Ranma 1/2 - Description/Synopsis
Ranma 1/2 is the story of a young martial artist named Ranma Saotome, only son of martial artist Genma, who spirits the boy away from home and his mother\'s arms to train him to become \"a man among men.\" This so-called training involves any number of harebrained schemes, the worst of which results in the pivotal dunking at the cursed training grounds of Jusenkyo, China. Even though he doesn\'t speak a word of Chinese, Genma insists on taking Ranma to Jusenkyo to train, where falling into one of the area\'s many springs transforms the unlucky swimmer into whoever--or whatever--drowned there last. And then there\'s this little accident.... From now on, a splash of cold water will change Genma into his alter ego, a roly-poly giant panda, while Ranma becomes an incredibly welll proportioned female version of himself. Hot water will reverse the effect, but only until the next time. Even with the outrageous martial arts motif, the dramatic engine of Ranma 1/2 is undoubtedly the reluctant romance between Ranma and tomboyish Akane, one of the daughters of fellow martial artist Soun Tendo.

Any Can Laugh At This (Slight Spoilers inside)
Ranma 1/2 is the best comedy in the anime world. No one can watch and not laugh at it. Between Ranma and the fighting amongst his fiances, all the trouble his and his friends curses get them in, and the romance is amazing. This is a comedy, some romance, action, martial arts, and fantasy all in one anime.

Ranma is a true classic
The manga though quite different in some aspects to the anime is just as worth collecting as the series. The martial arts action combined with comedy and romance is a winning combination. The gender bender transformation problem due to a curse of the main character makes it a portal for all kinds of sillyness.
Even though it is a comedy series there are plenty of serious moments of true love and sincere emotions. One of the best anime shows ever.

My Ranma
At first, I just thought that since the store didn't have EVA volume 5, I'd just buy Ranma since I didn't have anything else to get. (I read the manga, don't have the anime...) I didn't expect it to be so well written and drawn. Now, I'm as hooked on this series as anyone else. I've presented it to three of my friends and they all love it too. I recommend it from the depth of my heart.
