Happy March Birthdays

I'd like to wish a happy birthday to everyone who has one this month. I don't know most of you on this site and I may never, but that doesn't make me hope you have a wonderful and special day, whether by yourself, with close friends and family, or with your dozens of friends and well-wishers -- however you choose to celebrate your existence.

If you typically do not have the time to do anything for yourself, do so this day. Everyone deserves a present and some time to yourself.

And because I have your names, a special, more personal happy birthday to these forumers, current and old, wherever you are. Even if you never read this.

Don't I Feel Stupid

I didn't even realize that I wasn't posting here. Honestly. I remember typing posts in Microsoft Word (product placement) a couple of times but now that I look here, I never posted them. How did I manage that? I have no idea. Worse yet, I can't find those posts, either. Too, I just realized that there were some comments on the previous entry that needed to be approved because I accidentally made them require moderation. Unfortunately, all but one were spammy. Thank you to that poster! It's good to know someone cares. <3

There is, incidentally, quite little news and no true topic to this post. I did, however, feel the need to say something.

I'd like to wish belated birthdays to every member of this site we've missed over the months we've neglected to post birthday wishes. I will start that again soon, at the end of this month. In the meantime, happy birthday to all members, old and new, whether they are still here or not.

The Return of Fair but Unbalanced News

Yes, it is that time. What time, you may ask? The time for this source to return from obscurity to ... lesser obscurity. Yes. For this source's glorious return to the newswire, perhaps you may expect some knd of grand update? Some great news that will grip you and show no mercy?

Not really, no. This source is, however, proud to announce that we should, theoretically speaking, have two bloggers to blog about site happens, real life relevancies, and other thoughts that strike us about Mediaminer instead of the one we had previously with both this source and my correspondent. We hope this goes well. We also hope to inject more vitality into the site.

So ends this nonupdate; this source bids you all adieu. Another entry shall come in the near future, so look for it!

Our friends over at AnimeIowa are holding some fun looking pre convention contests. You don't have to attend to enter the art contest, so why not give it a try.

And now for the really exciting news. MediaMiner members from all over are going to meet and spend the weekend at AnimeIowa. This will be our sites second great convention adventure. In 2003 over 10 members met up at Otakon. This time we will not only be meeting up but rooming together.

Going to AnimeIowa, stop by and meet fanilia, Lady Macbeth_BV_ Silver Armada, Rini, Flame0f_Ice, Snypassj, RocketMan, and ....Silver's brother! We will be hosting a panel on adult fanfiction Friday night at 6:00pm (before the opening ceremony). All authors, writers, and readers 18 and over are welcome to join in on this informative panel exploring the do-s and do not-s of writing good story lines for the mature reader. We will also be in the dealers room at the MediaMiner table; make sure to stop by our check out our selection of art prints and gifts.

Congratulations to the Class of 2007!

Watching as members achieve the milestones of life is part of what makes a community and not just a site. Several of our members are celebrating the end of school. They will either be going on to higher education or joining the workforce. All of them deserve a standing ovation.

We Make a Life By What We Give

Sometimes you have to step back and just take a moment.

This is one of those times. Yesterday Wildlife enthusiast Steve Irwin - The Crocodile Hunter - died in what is being termed as a freak accident.

What has that to do with an Anime site you ask...

Nothing directly, but to one of our members, Lady MacBeth, Steve was a role model and a hero for his efforts and accomplishments in preserving and saving wildlife.

Please visit the memorial she has set up to honor his life and accomplishments.
