[Jul-19-2007] Lady Macbeth writes: Looking for Great Fan Art?

I have some exciting news to share today, everyone! Today a new website was launched that promises to be exactly what every member of the fan fiction and fan art communities has been looking for.

How many times have you scrolled through an archive for the millionth time, wishing a futile wish that there was some easy way to sort the good from the bad, or that the reviews left on fics actually told you about the quality of the fic instead of "CLAPCLAP RITE MORE!!!111!"?

Have you ever wished that you had an easy way to hit all of the major archives at the same time because you're surfing during a break at work or are otherwise squeezed for time online?

When you find a fanwork recommended by someone, do you wish you had an easy way of knowing what else that person might recommend?

Do you hate when you find a work miscategorized and wish that there was just an easy way to fix it yourself, instead of having to e-mail the author, artist or webmaster?

All of this functionality and more is now available in a one-stop site. FanworksFinder.com has been in alpha testing and was released today to the general public. Click this link to go to the LiveJournal information page about Fanworks Finder or click here to go directly to the site and start exploring right away. I was allowed to explore the site and offer feedback before it went live, and I was really happy with what I saw. You can find my profile under LadyMacbeth and see what I've already reviewed and recced while I was exploring the site's features. I've also submitted some of my own pieces while I was testing out the site and it worked beautifully!

Best of all, you don't have to move any of your fanworks OR ask your favorite artists/authors to move their works in order to submit them. Because it's not an archive, all of the works stay in their archives or websites and can still receive feedback and reviews there. Do you like how the formatting of your fiction looks on your LiveJournal or on your own website? No problem! Those links work as well.

Because Fanworks Finder is brand-new, there is a disproportionate amount of material from RockFic, which was instrumental in testing out the site. This can change quickly as members submit their own favorite fanworks from other archives and fandoms! Please take some time to explore FanworksFinder.com and help it become the answer to every fan's needs.

Because I'm just an enthusiastic fan, I'm not able to answer technical questions or troubleshoot for the site. However, there is a LiveJournal community set up at fanworksfinder to help you out. I hope all of you enjoy the site as much as I have!
