Chapter three: Here we are Again.
It had to be Thursday. She could never get the hand of Thursdays. It was like Monday for other people, a day that you weren't ready for and things you didn't want to deal with happened on those days. For Veta it was coming back from hunting or training and finding her mother crying in the kitchen. Normally she would comfort her and do what she could to help.
It was easier to do when Gohan was there, but it had been wearing her down since he died. Today she had lost her temper with her mother. They fought for awhile before Veta picked her up and flew to Capsule Corp with her. She practically threw her at Bulma and then stormed off outside. She could hear her mother crying again now. Bulma was making hushing noises while trying to talk to her.
She was lying on the grass, looking up at the partly cloudy sky and humming a tune. She knew that she over reacted, but her mother was just too much right now. She was sad that Gohan was dead too, but you didn't see her crying on a weekly basis for three years.
She heard another loud sob, and she growled with frustration. Getting up, she walking back inside, and walking around the maze like home till she found what she was looking for. No one ever really went in this room, but Bulma had said that she could use it when came by. It was a mostly empty room, with some chairs and a karaoke set. Bulma used to talk about how she and the others used to use this room when they drank too much and would pretend that they could sing.
Turning the machine on, she picked a song and turned the volume up loud enough to drown out the sounds of her mothers sobbing. She picked up the mic and sang along with the music and lost herself in the song.
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
He stood and watched her from the doorway; she had been in there for almost a half hour. Chichi had calmed down enough down stairs and was talking quietly with his mother.
He sighed softly as he watched Veta slightly dance with the music with her back to him. If it wasn't for the androids, he was positive that she would have made one hell of a diva. She moved gracefully, sang wonderfully and had no problem being in front of total strangers like him.
The song she was signing ended and another began; a slower paced song. She sang the first few verses and then her voice suddenly hitched. Her shoulder started shaking and after a moment she dropped the mic and buried her face in her hands.
Trunks pushed himself away from the doorframe and walked over to her. Grabbing on shoulder, he gentle turned her and gave her his shoulder to cry on, which she did. They stayed like for a while, him holding her while she cried silently. He gentle rub the back of her head and said nothing.
She pushed away from him and rubbed the tears from her eyes, “I hate Thursdays.”
Trunks couldn't help but laugh.
oOoOoOoOoOoOo
Chichi and Veta ended up staying with them for the night, after making sure that Veta's grandfather would be ok for the night without them. Chichi and Bulma went off to do some girl bounding, and Veta was happy hear them laughing now and then.
Trunks and Veta ended up in the living room munching on the food that was laid out for him. They sat on their own respected sofas with a number of textbook on either side of them; Veta had the Math, Literature and History books while Trunks had Science and Art textbooks. The would toss questions back and forth at each other for a while before Veta got tired of it and closed her book with a `thump'.
“This stuff makes my brain hurt.” She muttered while rubbing her temples. “I'll never know how Gohan was able to do this for hours on end.”
Trunks nodded and stretched out on the sofa and looked up at the ceiling.
Veta got up from her sofa and kneeled in front of his sofa, resting her arms on his chest and laying her head down on them. “What are you thinking about?”
“I am wonder if giving Goku the medicine made a difference. I mean… nothing really has changed.”
“Maybe it has, and we just don't know it.”
Trunks shrugged and looked at her, “What did you think of your father?”
“I don't know. We weren't really there long enough for me to make an opinion. He's powerful though. What about you? What did you think of him? You got to talk to him more then I did…”
“He's kind hearted. He's like one of those big intimidating guys that like bunnies and kittens. He's also really relaxed.”
Veta grunted and got up to go to the kitchen where she rummaged around the fridge till she pulled something out with a “ah-ha!” Talking back to the sofa with the artifact in one hand and a spoon in another.
“You're going to share that, right?” Trunks asked, pointing to the ice cream in her hand.
“Nope, this is the good stuff.”
“I'm pretty sure that was in my fridge.” Trunks growled. Veta stuck her tongue out at him and opened that carton of ice cream with a happy look on her face.
“You're supposed to be a manly man anyhow. Manly men don't eat ice cream.” She said putting a spoonful of ice cream in her mouth.
“Yeah, says who?” Trunks sat up and glared at her.
“I read it in the manly man hand book.”
“Why would you have the manly man hand book?”
“Oh, it's not mine,” she popped another spoonful of ice cream in her mouth. “It was Gohan's. I wasn't suppose to see it, but I found it among all his books.”
“Why wouldn't I have a copy of it?”
“Oh, I guess that means you're a pussy.”
“Just give me some damn ice cream!” He snapped at her.
She laughed, “If you really want some come and get it,” She put another spoonful in her mouth and then stuck her tough at him showing the ice cream off “see food” style. Her mirth stopped when he stood and walked over to her and grabbed her shoulders. He leaned his face closer to hers, his eyes determined.
`Shit,' was the one word she thought before finding a sofa pillow and stuffing it in his face, pushing him away in same movement.
“Take it,” she muttered, her face beat red, “It'll only make my hips huge later.”
She shoved the ice cream and spoon in his hands and picked up a book and turned away from him. He went back and sat on his sofa and ate the ice cream silently. Later on when Bulma and Chichi came down stairs, they couldn't help but wonder about why their children's faces were flushed.
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
“I think we've missed something.” Veta said as she and Trunks floated in front of an island that used to have a large city on it, now it was mostly smoking ruble. “You gave Goku the right time, right?”
“Of course I did… I don't understand…”
Both of their heads snapped as they felt a Ki power up rapidly. Silently they took off in the direction that it was coming from. Veta check as they flew seeing if any of the other cities that they flew over were ok. Everything seemed ok. What on earth was going on?
“Look!” Trunks said, pointing down at the ground, where there several large craters. They landed and looked around.
“Why fight here? 17 and 18 would have wanted to stay in the city to make sure that they killed everyone…” Veta stopped as she heard Trunks let out a gasp.
“What is this?”
She walked over to him and her eyes went wide. It was an android, no faking that… but that wasn't 17 or 18 head's. She and Trunks looked at each other.
“Maybe our interference with time affected it more then we thought it did.” She said softly.
Trunks opened his mouth to say something but look off in another direction. “Do you feel that?”
She looked off in the same direction and narrowed her eyes. There was one large ki along with several others. The large Ki didn't feel like Goku's though.
“Lets go.” Trunks said taking to the air, Veta hot on his heels.
`Something is wrong… where's Goku? He was suppose to be here, but I don't feel his Ki anywhere.' A knot formed in her stomach and she found herself flying faster. What she saw when she got there made her speechless. Most of the crew was there, save for Yamcha and her father. They were surrounding a figure who showed the tale-tale sign of and android. But… she didn't know who he was…
“You're late!” Piccolo shouted at them from where his hovered in the air. “We managed to get one, and we have this one corned.”
Veta blinked, and then rubbed her eyes and looked at the android again. No, that wasn't 18 or 17… He looked familiar though. Where had she seen him before?
“Something's wrong, that's not the one of the androids!” Trunks informed the rest of the group
“What do you mean that's know one of the androids!” Vegeta shouted at him.
Now everyone was looking worried. And as if to make matter worse, Veta picked up on the sound of a space car flying in their direction. She wasn't the only one to pick up on the sound, the android that was cornered also heard it. He didn't waste the opportunity either.
Another 15 minutes later, Veta was furious. No, beyond furious, and it wasn't just because of the whole Vegeta almost let his son and woman die part. It was when she the part where she found out her father hadn't taken the medication. What part of “you'll die if you don't take this' did he not understand?
`It was such a simple plan. Give Goku medication, Goku saved, Goku saves world… Goku doesn't medication, therefore fucking up the whole plan.' She growled and felt her tail bristle.
“Get out of my way before I move you.” Vegeta snapped at Trunks. Trunks was doing his best to keep his father from going after Dr. Gero, but Vegeta was having none of it. Bulma was trying to hush the crying baby.
“Trunks,” Veta growled, catching the attention of Trunk, Vegeta and Bulma, “I'm going home to see what happened to my dad.” She powered up and took off, leaving a sonic boom in her wake.
Krillian blinked, and then rubbed his head. “Hey… Trunks, right?”
Trunks looked at Krillian and nodded.
“Isn't her dad here?” He asked pointing at Vegeta.
“Err… no, he's my father. Goku is hers.”
The look on most of the group's faces was priceless. If the situation at that time had not been so serious, it would have been funny…

A/N: Sorry that the chapter is short, I couldn't think of anything else that would fit in right now. This story has literally taken over my life. I can't sleep unless I write more, it's crazy. Anyhow, I am not sure if I really want to rewrite the entire android and cell saga. The reason? Well, the bulk of this story is actually going to take place in Trunks and Veta's time line and not much is going to change the result in the current timeline. But I will let you, the readers, decide if I should or not.
