Fruits Basket Fan Fiction ❯ Winter: Ice and Snow ❯ One-Shot

This is a poem I wrote for a fanfic, but I might not ever get the story written. So rather than deprive you of an “awesome poem”, as my friend called it (she gave it 2 thumbs up), I decided to post this now and write the story later. Hope you like it. Please R&R.

Winter: Ice and Snow
I sit in the dark
The cold
The winter of my soul
And I long for the Light
For the warmth of Fire
For Spring, and gentle Breeze
For Water's laugh

I can't want to love them
To want their warmth
I am too cold
I would sap their strength
Leave them frozen
It would kill them, kill their joy

I would smother Fire
Clip Breeze wings
Destroy the Light
Spring would turn from me
Water, flee my frozen touch
I cannot want

There is only one colder than I
Frozen in a block of ice
To save his memories of spring
My brethren, my kith, my King
He rules me
Like Ice rules Winter

But he does not comfort me
We are both too cold for comfort
We are winter dead
Waiting for a thaw that never is
And if Winter's dead
Autumn's dying

Autumn fears Winter
We remind he of too short a time
He longs for Spring
To be Spring
But it cannot be
He would destroy him with a single touch

So he destroys us
He hurts me, Snow
So infinitely pure
So easily defiled
He hurt Ice
And froze his heart for ever

How much cold can I endure
Before I break
Before I crack
Shatter with a single breath
How long can I live
In this frozen hell

I know I'll never see Light
Never know Warmth
I'll never hear Rain
Nor feel the Wind caress my face
and silent tears fall

I cry for my tortured mind
Weep for my tattered soul
My torn heart
I am Winter. I am Snow.
I am more like Autumn than he knows
For I want that which I would destroy

I know, I know. Yuki=Snow, Haru=Spring, Hatori=Ice? Real original, right? Come on, I know what you're thinking! Ok, Maybe I don't know what you're thinking. I mean, you could be thinking 'This girl’s from Mars' or something. Which you'd better not be because I'm from Venus de Milo in the Heracles system. (don't ask, do not ask, I don't know either)
