Chapter 25: Inu-yasha! Where are you?!

This chapter will have a couple of things in it.

First: A sequence as I update what Inu-yasha and the gang have been doing in the week since
Kagome and Sesshomaru vanished.

Second. I will assume that not everyone has read the Silmarillion and, as such, I need to give a
synopsis for the novel, so everyone knows the background history of Sauron in the first age.

Let's start with the Inu-yasha, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kirara, Rin, and Jakken . . . ___________________________

From chapter 1 . .

Sesshomaru, while looking at Inu-yasha says, "You cannot help. This Sesshomaru has other
duties that require his attention. Jakken take Rin. We are leaving."

Sesshomaru, using his speed, goes over to Kagome. He reaches over and grabs the cube in
Kagome's hand.

"Hey!" Inu-yasha yells and tries to react, but he is too slow . . .

The instant Sesshomaru's hand, the cube and Kagome's hand all touch . . . they vanish.

No smoke, no flash of light. Just, gone. (Her backpack vanished as well, her other hand was still
in it.)

Everybody blinks, and look at the spot where Kagome and Sesshomaru were, shock appearing on
all the faces. They look at each other.

"Kagome! Where are you!?" Inu-yasha howls!

"Ka! GO! ME!!" Shippo yells as he runs to where they vanished.

Inu-yasha growls, deep in his chest. "All right, you've had your joke, Sesshomaru. Bring back
Kagome and I won't kill you." he threatens the air. He draws Tetsusaiga.

"Inu-yasha, forgive me, but I don't think they are nearby." Miroku begins. "I can't sense either
mystical aura." he finishes in a very uncertain voice.

Inu-yasha, Miroku and Sango stare at each other.

BUMP! Jakken hits Inu-yasha on the top of his head with his staff. "What have you done with
my master?" he asks.

Inu-yasha twirls, "Nothing." He growls out. He grabs Jakken and lifts him up, bringing him up to
Inu-yasha's face. "You know. Don't you?"

"Know what?" Jakken sputters.

"You know where Sesshomaru took her." Inu-yasha's lips curl, his fangs show. He sheaves his
sword and he rips Jakken's staff from him and throws it away.

Inu-yasha's clawed hand begins to lightly caress Jakken's face. "Tell me where he is, and I might
let you keep your face." He threatens. One of his claws pokes into Jakken's check, and blood
drips from the cut.

"You leave Jakken alone!" Rin yells and charges Inu-yasha. "Only Lord Sesshomaru and Rin can
hurt him." She tries to tackle Inu-yasha's leg, but she fails.

Inu-yasha reaches down and picks her up by the scruff of her neck. "Little girl. Tell me where
Sesshomaru is at!" He begins to shake her.

"Rin not know!" She begins to cry.

Sango grabs the arm holding Rin and she, in a quiet but determined voice, points out, "When we
find Kagome and if this child is hurt, after she finishes breaking your back, I'll break every other
bone in your body."

Miroku moves so he stands next to Rin, his arms held lose and ready. "And I'll help her."

"Drop her." She orders in a very nonsense tone.

Inu-yasha drops Rin. Miroku grabs her before she can hit the ground, he gently places her on the
ground. Rin quickly hides behind Sango's legs. Sango lets go of his arm, angry red finger marks
show on his forearm, where she griped him.

"Jakken." Inu-yasha ignores Sango, Miroku and Rin as he begins to browbeat Jakken.

Jakken's eyes widen. Inu-yasha's eyes are quickly reddening, "Master Inu- yasha! I do not know!
Please, I beg you. I don't know!" A yellow stream of liquid begins to flow down Jakken's legs
and drip on the ground . . .

Jakken continues to blubber . .

Sango turns to Rin. "Rin? That is your name, right?" Shippo is standing next to Rin.

Rin nods.

"Do you know what happened?"

Rin shakes her head. "Lord Sesshomaru and pretty lady touched by cube and they vanished." she whispers.

Miroku clears his throat and he guesses, "Inu-yasha, Sango, I don't think they know any more
than we do."

Sango and Inu-yasha look at him. Both nod.

"Let's try finding her a different way." Miroku suggests.

"Jakken." Inu-yasha orders, "Don't move." He drops Jakken and begins to sniff and search the area.

Jakken scrambles to his staff and then he stands there, watching Inu-yasha, trembling . .

"Sango, I'm going to try my mystical senses." Miroku explains as he finds a comfortable place to
sit, so he can concentrate.

Sango nods.

She also begins to search the area. Rin and Shippo follow her.

Hours pass . . . nightfall . . .

"Nothing." Miroku sighs . .

Sango shakes her head in disgust.

"Nope, not a scent." Shippo adds in.

Inu-yasha picks up a head-sized rock and crumbles it. Anger and frustration color the features on
his face . . .

"Rin found these nice flowers!" Rin happily begins to pass them out to the group.

Miroku, Sango and Shippo accept the flowers and even manage to give her a thin smile.

"Please?" Rin approaches Inu-yasha with a pansy flower in her hand. Inu-yasha raises his hand,
like he's about to rip the flower apart, but Miroku and Sango hiss at him and Miroku mouths,
"Accept it."

Inu-yasha curls his lips, but accepts the flower from Rin.

As soon as she turns around, he throws it away.

"Tomorrow, we will continue searching." Are the only words that leave Inu-yasha's mouth during
the night.

The next day . . .

They search . . . and find nothing . .

The second day . . .

The only thing that is found is that Rin and Shippo are becoming fast friends . . .

The third day . .

"Inu-yasha, we've been over this ground at least a hundred times. We need to find a different way
to locate her." Sango states at the end of the day.

"Finding missing people is something Lady Kaede has experience in, Inu-yasha. I believe she has
a spell or two that might help us locate her." Miroku adds in.

"Magic." he grumbles. "Yes. She must have vanished due to it. Magic might find her." He turns
to Miroku. "The old hag?"

Miroku shrugs. "Once, when you were on the other side of the well, one of the villagers came to
her exclaiming that her child was missing. Lady Kaede performed a spell and located the child."
he explains.

Miroku's face twists, "Unfortunately, I've never had great success with search spells." he
mentions in a rueful voice.
He shakes his head, 'I don't know if it's me or if it's just that fact that I was always looking for
Naraku and he, for sure, has spells surrounding him that prevent search spells from working.' he thinks.

Inu-yasha nods. "Tomorrow we return to the village." He begins to pace the camp area . . . trying
to work off the rage that three days of frustration have caused . .

"Rin and Jakken." Sango whispers to them. "Come with us. We'll locate Kagome, and
Sesshomaru is probably still with her."

They nod and they move off to the area they've been sleeping in.

"Probably still with her?" Miroku whispers to Sango.

Sango grimaces, "I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing."

"It'll be a good thing." Inu-yasha's voice drifts in from the edge of the camp. "Especially for my
brother, I will know exactly where he is. I will kill him. Slowly and painfully." Hate and anger
color his voice.

Miroku, Sango and Shippo shudder at his tone. Kirara's head shakes in sadness.

It takes three days to return to the village . .

Somehow, she'll never explain how, Kaede is waiting on her porch, a concerned _expression on
her face. "Kagome?" she asks as she surreys the dispirited group as they trudge up to her.

"She vanished." Miroku begins.

"With Sesshomaru." Sango continues.

'That explains the little girl and Jakken, if the rumors about Sesshomaru are correct.' Kaede thinks.

"Leaving no trace . . . " Shippo adds.

"Find her." Inu-yasha licks his lips and he finishes with, "Lady Kaede."

Everybody looks at him. He curls his lips, places his arms across his chest and ignores everyone.

Kaede looks off into space, thinking.

"I'll need something from her. Clothes, something used often and recently, is best. Although, the
spell would work better, I had someone from her family, her mother or brother, to help." she says
as she lowers her eyes looking at the group.

Everyone looks at each other.

"Her bag vanished with her." Sango finally volunteers.

Kaede grimaces.

"I'll go." Inu-yasha, glances at the sitting sun, and he continues, "At night, and grab some clothes
from her room."

"Her mother and her family?" Keade is the first to say, although similar questions are on the lips
of Miroku and Sango.

"We'll find her." Inu-yasha licks his lips, "So there is no reason to tell them."

'I'm not going to explain to her mother that I've lost Kagome.' he thinks. 'Never.'

"You are making a mistake." Miroku states.

Sango adds in, "They deserve to know."

Shippo nods vigorously.

Inu-yasha shakes his head. "When we find her, if she wants to tell them, that's fine. But not until then."

Miroku, Sango, Shippo and Kaede share a glance and shake their heads.

Later, at night . . . in Kagome's room . .

Inu-yasha sniffs, 'What has she worn recently?'

His nose, following the strongest scent, leads him to a drawer in the chest next to her bed.

He opens it. The drawer contains her underwear. He swallows. 'Kaede wanted the clothes that
she's worn the most.' He glances at her closet. 'Yes, she normally wears her uniform and that is
with her, so all that would be here, are her bras and panties.'

"Lovely, Miroku will never let me hear the end of this." he whispers.

He picks out a couple of pairs of panties and begins to sniff them, trying to find the ones Kagome
has worn most recently.

'Her scent . . . ' he thinks. 'I missed it . . . so much . . . it's so . . . ' tears form in his eyes.

"Kagome . . . " he whispers. "Where are you . . . " he begins to cry.

He stumbles back and collapses on her bed, her panties under his nose.

"Please . . . come back . . I miss you . . . "

Tears flow . . .

His body curls into a fetal position, one arm gathering up the covers of her bed as he tries to
enwrap himself in her scent.

"Please . . . "

And for the first time since the death of his mother . . .

Inu-yasha cries himself to sleep .

Later . . .

Inu-yasha's eyes snap open.

Sunlight streams into the room from the open window . . .

His ears are catching the sounds of Kagome's family getting ready to leave the house for the day.

He can hear Sota and his grandfather leave the house. His grandfather walks Sota to the street at
the start each day and then he'll open up the tourist shop on the street.

He slept all night and into the morning . . .

He sits up and scrambles off her bed. He looks at it.

It's a mess . . . during the night he wrapped himself into the covers and his claws ripped the
sheets to shreds . . .

He can hear Mrs. H walk outside the room and she stops before Kagome's door.

'No time . . . ' Inu-yasha thinks as he jumps out of the window, carrying a couple pairs of
Kagome's panties.

'Every day that she's gone, I always check her room . . . ' Mrs. H thinks as she opens the door to
her daughter's room.

The rumpled bed, torn sheets and the open drawer on her chest instantly stop her from entering
the room.

Her eyes widen and she enters the room looking around.

'What happened? A panty raid? I didn't think the boys in this neighborhood still did that.' she thinks.

She goes through the drawer, 'Yes, a panty raid. A couple are missing.' she thinks. 'Hmm . . . I'll
need to call her friends and see if they know which boys are doing the panty raids. Hojo? If he
did this, he's has more of a backbone than I've ever seen.'

She begins to straighten the room and bed. 'At least they didn't use the room to jack off in. That's
a plus. I remember one night, when I was Kagome's age and waking up to a group of boys, during
a panty raid . . . ' she smiles as she shakes her head. 'Too bad, they made soo much noise and
mother interrupted them.'

She picks up a long white hair from the bed. "Inu-yasha." She whispers. 'That explains the torn
sheets as well.' she thinks.

She goes to the window and looks at the well house. The door is slightly open.

She twirls around. "Why?" she asks the room.

She runs to the well house.

She slams open the door and yells, "Inu-yasha!"

Silence, and a fading blue glow from the well, are the only things in the well house.

She walks to the edge of the well and looks down. It is empty.

She takes a deep breath and looks at the hair in her hand. She looks back at the well. 'I've never
tried it.' She bites her lip. 'I lied to her when she asked if I had. I've always hated this place, too
many bad memories.'

She releases her breath. "No. I will give him and Kagome a chance to explain."

She leaves the well house . . .

Let's go back a few minutes and follow Inu-yasha POV as he leaps out of the window . .

Inu-yasha slams the well house door so hard it twists in place, leaving a small opening, and he
leans back against the wall. "Damn. Shit. Idiot." he mumbles to himself. "How are you going to
explain that?"

He smiles. 'Still . . . that was the best night's sleep I've had . . . since the night of the spring
festival and Kagome and I sleep together . . . '

He shifts his clothes, trying to get comfortable, since there is a large amount of semi-dried sticky
fluid in his shorts, 'Before I show up at Kaede's hut, I've got to visit the river and clean up. I don't
remember much about that wet dream, but it must have been great.'

He hears Mrs. H running toward him.

He jumps into the well.

On the other side . . .

"There you are, Inu-yasha!" Shippo yells as soon as he appears in the well.

Shippo, Rin, Miroku and Sango's heads appears at the top of the well.

"Shit . . . " Inu-yasha grunts out. 'No time to clean up. I just hope it's not showing.'

He jumps out of the well and begins to run toward Kaede's hut. "What the fuck are you waiting
for?" he asks as he leaves them in his dust.

Everyone at the well looks at each other and shrugs. They begin to run toward the village as well.

When they arrive at Kaede's hut, Inu-yasha is leaving the hut. "She said that she needs to be alone
to do the spell." A pause. "And so do I." He leaves the hut and walks around it.

Sango quickly chases after him.

Shippo and Kirara exchange glances, and Shippo points to his nose. Kirara nods.

"Shippo?" Miroku asks. "Inu-yasha was gone all night, and we expected him back within an
hour, so was there anything odd about him?"

Shippo looks at Miroku's crotch. Miroku twists his mouth. "I see." he sighs. "Hmmm . . . All
night in her room, then." He nods and follows Sango and Inu-yasha.

Shippo and Kirara stay at the hut and explain what happened when Rin and Jakken show up.

Back to Inu-yasha to Sango .

"Wait!" she cries to his back. Inu-yasha grimaces. 'Since I've never been one to clean up, I can't
tell her the truth.' He stops, turns around and opens his mouth to make up some excuse.

Sango puts a small piece of cloth in her hand. She licks it and reaches out to Inu-yasha's face.

Inu-yasha, sputters, "What?"

"Let me clean up those tear tracks." Sango asks in a very quiet voice.

Inu-yasha swallows . . .

She begins to rub his face. "I miss her too, you know. We all do. She's my best friend. She's
Shippo's mother. The sister Miroku never had." She pauses, "And your..."

Inu-yasha licks his lips, "Nothing, she's only my shard detector." he quickly spits out.

A pause. "Say that enough times, Inu-yasha, and that is all she will be." Sango prophecies.

Another pause as they look at each others eyes.

Sango's mouth twitches, "I was going to offer you a hug, Kagome's kind and caring nature has
rubbed off on me that much. But, if that's how you feel."

She lowers the cloth, places it in his hand and she spits out harshly, "You can clean up your own
mess, and start with the odor of your musk that surrounds you."

She twists around and takes a step, but . .

"Stop. Sango." Inu-yasha whispers.

She turns around.

A pause as they look at each other again.

Sango's mouth twitches again, "And I was going to ask for a hug for myself. There's no way I can
ask the Monk. Too many hands."

"I miss her." Inu-yasha whispers. "I'd do anything to have her back."

They close together and a hug.

Miroku, who has been listening, holds up his hand, and thinks, 'I've got to control this.'

He retreats a couple of steps, clears his throat loudly and walks toward Sango and Inu-yasha, who
have separated with slight blushes on their cheeks. "Sango. Could I have a private moment with
Inu-yasha?" Miroku politely requests.

Sango nods. "I'll check on Shippo and Rin." She leaves.

"What do you want, Monk?" Inu-yasha demands.

"Oh, nothing much." Miroku says in a light voice. His eyes narrow at something behind Inu-
yasha. Inu-yasha, suspicious as always, turns his head to look behind him.

The point of Miroku's staff slams into the pit of Inu-yasha's stomach.

Inu-yasha folds over, gasping for breath.

"You didn't like it when I hugged Sango." Inu-yasha gasps out.

"That, Inu-yasha, was for lying to Sango and to yourself." Miroku places his staff on the ground.
"The longer you lie about your feelings toward Kagome, the more you hurt her."

"You're lying." Inu-yasha accuses. "You were jealous that she hugged me."

"No. If Sango wishes to extend to you, some kindness, a hug or even more. That is her business
and hers alone." Miroku replies. "If I had a sister, and her boyfriend treated her like you treat
Kagome, he'd be dead."

Inu-yasha stares at Miroku. Miroku meets his gaze evenly.

"Kagome cares for you, Inu-yasha. She does not want to see you hurt. She is one of the few
persons I respect, and as such, I will follow her wishes. For now." Miroku turns around and
begins to walk away.

Inu-yasha grabs his shoulder and twists him around. "Monk." he growls. His other hand is curled
into a fist.

"What, Inu-yasha?" Miroku raises his eyebrows. "You going hit me? For telling you the truth?
The truth hurts, you know."

"Damn you, Miroku." Inu-yasha growls.

"I've long ago accepted the fact that in order to defeat Naraku, my soul is one of the things that I
might lose." Miroku's mouth twitches, "I haven't yet, but that's only because every time I've tried
to make a deal with a being from hell, they've been too greedy and tried too soon."

Inu-yasha swallows.

"Now, if you would please, release me, so I can join Sango in watching the kids." Inu-yasha
releases him. "If I might make a suggestion, Inu-yasha? Before Lady Kaede finishes, I believe,
that you do have time to clean up."

Miroku walks off. Inu-yasha runs to the river.

Miroku steps up onto Kaede's porch. Sango, Rin, Kirara and Jakken are on it, waiting. "Where's Shippo?"

"He wasn't here when I arrived." Sango replies.

"Hmm. He's probably bugging Inu-yasha."

Sango nods. "We'll hear them soon. I'm sure." Miroku nods.

At the well . .

Shippo drops a folded letter down the well.

"Please, well. Please. Let it pass through. I wrote that last night, for Kagome's mother. Please, I
beg of you, let it through." he whispers, his head pressing against the wood of the well.

'Now, to get back before they notice I'm gone.' He thinks as he leaves.

The well glows blue for a second . .

The letter:

"Kagome's mom,

Kagome is missing. But, we'll find her. No matter what the cost. Promise.

Shippo."

Later . .

"Mom!" Sota yells as he runs into the house. "It was at the bottom of the well!" He is waving a letter.

"I've told you not to go into the well house, Sota." Mrs. H reminds her son as she takes the letter.
"Mom. You know that I always check the well when I come home." Sota explains.

Mrs. H opens the letter. Her face twists. 'You have a lot to explain, Inu- yasha.' she thinks. 'And I
will not accept anything but the truth.'

"What is it, mom?"

Mrs. H starts, "Oh, nothing, just a note telling me that Kagome will be on the other side of the
well for longer than expected."

'I'm not going to cause Sota to worry about his sister.' she thinks . . .

Back at Kaede's hut .

"Shippo! Where were you?" Sango asks, as Shippo runs up.

"Oh. Using the bushes." Shippo quickly replies.

Sango and Miroku look at him suspiciously, but don't ask questions.

"Shippo, could you stay here and wait for us?" Miroku asks.

"Why?"

"I would like to have a private moment with Lady Sango, if she agrees?" Miroku nods to Sango.

"A private moment. Can I trust you?"

"Yes." His eyes hold hers. She nods.

"Very well."

Both Sango and Miroku walk off.

Out of the line of sight of Kaede's hut.

"Well?" Sango asks. 'He's going to ask about that hug. I'll tell him the truth, Kagome's kind
nature is rubbing off on me, and I felt the need to comfort him.'

Miroku hesitates, trying to find the correct words, he whispers, "I would have given you that hug."

Sango hesitates, she whispers, "Can I trust your hands?"

Miroku takes a deep breath, stands up straight and nods.

Sango purses her lips, trying to decide. She nods.

Miroku slowly approaches her, his arms wide.

He hugs her. His hands staying away from her backside or her breasts.

After a second, Sango hugs him back.

"I miss her." one of them whispers.
1. "So do I." the other replies.

After a good long hug, they separate, and exchange quick smiles.

They turn and walk back to Kaede's hut.

Sango threatens, in a loud tone, as they view the hut, "Miroku, if you don't remove your hand.
You will be thrown over Lady Kaede's hut."

"Of course, Lady Sango." He pointedly moves a couple of steps away from her.

Later inside Kaede's hut . . .

"Well?" Inu-yasha asks.

Everybody is in the hut, sitting in a circle around the fire.

"She is alive." Kaede pronounces.

Everybody sighs. "And?" Inu-yasha prompts.

"That's all I could find out. It feels like she's not on earth. Some other dimension?" Kaede shrugs.
"Inu-yasha, I know everything you need to know about how to run a village. But, dealing with
different dimensions is not my strength."

"Damn. Fuck. Shit." Inu-yasha begins to curse.

"Any hope?" Sango asks.

Kaede nods. "Yes, there are three choices, and you must decide between them."

"Choices?" Miroku asks.

"What fucking choices?" Inu-yasha demands.

Kaede pulls out a scroll and places it in front of her. "This explains the spell I used. It should be
given to Kagome's mother."

"What?" everyone in the room explodes.

"To get better results, the person casting the spell needs to be part of her family. Given Kagome's
spiritual power, I believe that her mother has enough power to cast it. She should get better
results than I did."

"No." Inu-yasha declares.

"You said three?" Miroku prompts.

Kaede nods. "As I said, the closer someone is to her, the better the spell. My sister has part of
Kagome's soul in her possession."

The hut goes quiet as everyone looks at Kaede.

"And my sister is very well familiar with other dimensions. If there is any person that can find
Kagome, it is my sister."

"Then, I'll find her and I'll tell her to locate Kagome." Inu-yasha plans out loud.

Kaede looks at him with pity in her eyes, "And why would she help you find her, Inu-yasha?"

Smoke pours out of Inu-yasha's ears as he tries to think of a reason the Kikyo would help Kagome.

"And even if you could get her to help you, Inu-yasha, what would be the cost?" Kaede adds.

Inu-yasha licks his lips. 'There is only one thing Kikyo would want from me.' he thinks.

"What's the third?" Sango asks.

Kaede sighs, "Kagome possesses shards of the jewel of four souls. There are other shards. It is a
very powerful magic item. Using the pieces still here, you can use the spell to locate the other
pieces. Perhaps the power of the jewels will cause this spell to do something else, but I'm not
sure. The power of the jewel, might help the spell, and perhaps even make it work better." she
pauses. "It might, perhaps, even summon the pieces of the shard and the person holding them
across dimensions."

Inu-yasha asks, "The bigger that our piece of the shard is the better the chance?"

Kaede nods.

"So, if we have a shard and you cast this spell, Kagome might appear in front of us?" Shippo asks
the question that is on every ones mind.

Kaede nods. "Maybe. But, at least, it wouldn't hurt and I think it will work."

Everyone looks at each other.

Sango smiles, "Good, all we have to do find Kouga. He'll be glad to help locate Kagome."

Everyone, except Inu-yasha, nods and congratulates Sango about her plan.

"No." Inu-yasha stands up and walks to the doorway.

"Inu-yasha?" At least a couple of people in the hut asks.

"The bigger the piece the better. Right?" Inu-yasha asks as he turns to look at the party.

"Yes, Inu-yasha." Kaede replies.

"Then I'm going after the biggest piece." Inu-yasha's eye's redden. "Naraku's."

He scans the faces of everyone in the hut. "Alone, if necessary." He turns and walks out of the hut.

'No plan.' Sango thinks.

'No Kagome.' Shippo thinks.

'No chance.' Miroku thinks.

"Can we let him do it alone?" Miroku asks in a quiet voice.

"No." Sango stands up. "I'm going."

"So I'm I." Shippo joins her.

"No. Shippo. Remain here and help Kaede and Rin." Miroku orders, "I'll go."

"Yes. Shippo." Sango bends down and she picks him up. "Please Shippo. This will be very
dangerous and I don't want you to get hurt."

"That's not going to stop me." Shippo replies, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Shippo, please." Miroku adds. His eyes narrow. "Do Sango's plan. That way, even if we fail,
Kagome will be rescued."

Shippo takes a deep breath. He nods. "I'll find him."

Sango releases him.

"Well?" she asks Miroku.

"Well? What?" Miroku replies.

"Let's go." Sango picks up her huge boomerang and with Kirara following her, she leaves the hut.

Miroku picks up his staff, "Pray for us." he says to Kaede as he leaves the hut. "We'll need it."

Kaede, Shippo, Rin and Jakken watch Inu-yasha, Miroku and Sango walk out of the village . .

Authors' note:

That should occupy the group for a while.

Nasty, evil grin . .

___________________________

Now the synopses of Silmarillion.

If you have not read the novel, you need to read this, to understand the next story arc. If you have
read the novel, you still need to read this, as it will tell you when and where I'm placing the story
and what changes I've made.

The purpose of this synopsis is to tell, you the reader, what they need to know to understand my
story. It is not a complete synopsis of the novel.

The novel is the story of the first and second age of middle earth. The Lord of the Rings (LOTR)
takes place more than 6000 years in the future. (Elrond is about 50 years old, at the time of my
story, FYI.)

The Silmarils, Feanor and his family actions are barely touched upon and their actions are central
to the novel. The Silmarils, for those that want to know, are three great magic jewels created by
Feanor. (The vial of light Frodo & Sam use in the movie is a very limited imitation of the power
of a Silmaril.) Morgoth, the great enemy, steals them and Feanor swears a great oath to recover
the jewels. Silmarillion is the story of the attempts to recapture those jewels . . .

Morgoth also known as Melkor, helps god to create the world, but he wanted to create things that
weren't in gods plan . . . so, He revolted against god. (He is called Morgoth through most of the
novel and that is what I will call him.)

Sauron, the Balrogs (7 of them perhaps? , maybe more?) and others joined him. Sauron,
throughout the novel is described as Morgoth's right-hand man.

Sauron, during this time in his existence, is NOT a flaming cat's eye. (I only used that image in
ch 24, because of the movie and that is how many, if not most, of the readers would recognize him.)

In the novel, during the one fight he is involved in, he is a shape changer. He changes forms into
a werewolf, a giant snake, human, and finally a dark vampiric cloud.

So, in my story, he will have an Elfish or human form. Unfortunately, the only description of his
elfish/human form is "his form is pleasing to the eye." Shrug. He loses this form during the 2nd
age. (Tricked the king of Numenor into sailing into the West and to attack the Valar, directly.) I'll
come up with something. (Surprise for ch 26)

Now, then, to specifics.

About 125 years before the setting of my story, Sauron captures the tower of Minas Tirith (not
the same one in the movie, that city was named after this tower, maybe?). He holds it as a
watchtower for his boss, Morgoth. He changes the name of the tower to Tol-in-Gaurhoth (which
translates into The Isle of Werewolves) It watches over the direct route to Morgoth's citadel, so
it's an important and useful location.

About 120 years before, Beren, ( a major hero, the hero in the novel, in my opinion,) is captured
by Sauron. His finance Luthein, and Huan, the hound of Valinor rescues him. The fight vs. Huan
is where Sauron does his shape changing bit. He loses the fight, BTW. Huan combined with
some spells from Luthein beat him. They rescue Beren and Luthein destroys the tower.

(Beren, in order to marry Luthein, has to steal a Silmaril. That is the task Luthein's father set for
him, in order to get his permission to marry Luthein. The Silmarils, (all 3) are the jewels set in
the crown on Morgoth's head. A crown he never removes. I'll let you read the novel to find out if
he succeeds . . . )

I am assuming that during the 120 years between that fight and the time of my story, Sauron has
recovered from the injuries done to him and has repaired the tower. (The quality of the repairs
will be a bit lacking. The tower was built by the elf king Finrod.)

At the time of my story. The elves of middle earth have sent Earendil, Elrond's father, to the
Valar in the west to beg for help against the might of Morgoth. (Basically, he went to the
gods/angels (Valar) that live across the ocean in the west.)

The Valar has decided to help and to capture Morgoth in his citadel Angband. (This, BTW,
would make the second time, they've had to do this. He almost conquered the world before . . . )

In the novel, Sauron is nowhere to be found, as the Valar approach and prepare to attack Morgoth
. . . So what happened to him?

The next time Sauron makes an appearance, after the fight with Huan, it is 500 years into the 2nd
age. (Where he shows up, under an alias, and begins to teach the elves, dwarves and humans how
to make magic items, especially rings . . . )

My story is designed to answer the questions: Where was he? Why did he not help his master Morgoth?

(For the Tolkien fanatics, I may not be absolutely correct in my details, please forgive me.
Hopefully my story will still be enjoyable to read.)

Thank you for reading, Jeff Shelton.
