Kagome! Where are you?!

Chapter 54: Inu-yasha where are you part 3 Kikyo . . .

Authors' note: judging by the responses from last chapter, I do
wish to apologize for stretching out Gilligan's island, as much
as I did.

I wanted to give them a peaceful break and to settle them into a
regular pattern. Sigh. I probably went into too much detail, but
sigh. (And, as I feared, my skills at writing humor, need
improvement . . . )

Beginning in chapter 55: Star Wars: I will be trying my best to
speed up the storyline. Kagome and Sesshoumaru's relationship is
basically stable, so I can concentrate on the worlds they travel
to. (There are still a couple of twists in their relationship,
I'll be adding, but. Secrets are meant to be kept.)

___________________________________________

Events in this chapter begin during day 15 of Kagome and
Sesshomaru's epic journey.

A couple of days after the events in chapter 44: at Keade's
village, early morning. (Kouga had to return to his tribe. He had
to solve an internal domestic dispute.)

One of Kikyo's insect demons flies over the village.

Inu-yasha notices it. "She's here." He hisses as he jumps unto the roof of
Keade's hut.

Everybody stops what they were doing, leaves Keade's hut and spreads out,
waiting.

A few minutes later . . .

Kikyo steps out of the forest and walks up to the hut.

Myouga hops onto Inu-yasha's shoulder. "I found her." he whispers.

Inu-yasha nods.

"Inu-yasha." Kikyo states. "You wanted to talk to me?"

Inu-yasha swallows. "Yes, I did. Kagome is missing and I want you to help us
find her." He spits out.

Kikyo asks, "why?"

"Because she is part of you, Kikyo." Miroku interrupts. "If she stays missing,
who knows what will happen to you?"

Kikyo's eyes narrow. "I wish to speak to Inu-yasha, alone."

"No." Shippo states.

"Kitsune." Kikyo snarls.

"Brat." Inu-yasha and Kikyo glare at Shippo.

Shippo takes a deep breath, "I am Kagome's page. That makes me part of her
family and with her being gone. That means that I speak for her."

"And what are you saying?" Kikyo asks.

"That you and Inu-yasha are not going to be alone. This about getting Kagome
back." Shippo takes a deep breath. "I want her back and I'm not going to have
you twist things, Kikyo."

"Little kitsune." Kikyo begins to speak.

"He is not alone." Sango says as she moves next to him.

"The events of the last few days have proved to me that in order to succeed we
need Kagome." Miroku states as he moves next to Sango and Shippo. "As such, I
must make sure that she is found, even if that means getting between you and
Inu-yasha, Kikyo."

"Inu-yasha, let's leave." Kikyo smiles at Inu-yasha. "Come, my love."

Inu-yasha looks at Shippo, Sango and Miroku. He looks at Kikyo.

He bites his lips and thinks. ‘They trusted me and I lead them in a trap. Now
. . . do I go with Kikyo, who they don't trust, or do I stay with them?'

While he is thinking, Miroku asks, "All we are asking, Kikyo, is for you to
use your powers to locate Kagome. We believe that she is on a different
dimension."

Kikyo's eyes widen in surprise.

"You're going to need to find her, Kikyo." Sango adds. "Sooner or later,
you'll need her, just like we do."

"And sister," Keade adds, "If you can succeed, would not she owe
you something?"

"Have you tried?" Kikyo asks her sister.

Keade nods, yes. "I did. But, that type of spell is not my
strength."

Kikyo nods. She looks at Inu-yasha. ‘Hmmm . . . I would have
liked to get him alone.' She thinks. She scans the rest of the
group. ‘But, I don't think they'll allow that. Hmmm.'

"Inu-yasha are you going to let them decide what you will do?"
She asks as she points to Miroku, Sango and Shippo.

"No." Inu-yasha instantly replies.

"Then, come with me and I will find her." Kikyo instantly
replies.

He looks at Miroku, Sango (Kirara is in her arms) and Shippo.

They stare back at him. Their eyes are hard as stone . . .

He swallows, ‘I can see it in their eyes, If I chose to go with
Kikyo, they'll never trust me again.' He looks at Kikyo, ‘but.
Kikyo . . . if I don't go with her . . . '

"Kikyo." Inu-yasha begins to speak, "I . . . " he clears his
throat. "Feh."

"Inu-yasha?" Shippo whispers.

"Kikyo." Inu-yasha grimaces. "Finding Kagome and the shards in
her possession is more important than anything else."

"So, Inu-yasha, unless you agree to my terms . . . " Kikyo
begins.

He shakes his head. "I don't have to, Kikyo. I can visit her
mother and get her help." He takes a deep breath. "So. Will you
help me or do I try something else?"

Kikyo glares at Miroku, Sango and Shippo. ‘He's going to side
with them.' She thinks. ‘As much as I'd like to get him to agree
to be with me, he's not going to do that. And, they're right, I
will need her sooner or later and when I succeed in helping her,
she'll owe me.'

She audibly grits her teeth. Inu-yasha, grimaces, as he thinks.

Inu-yasha, while Kikyo is considering her options, thinks, ‘Kikyo
or them? Which do I choose? Kikyo or Kagome? Kikyo is my first
true love. We died, basically, together. By all the stories and
legends that I know of, it is our destiny to be together,
forever. Kagome is something new, different, perhaps even better
than Kikyo. But, to choose her would mean that my feelings for
Kikyo were not true . . . because how can you give up on your
first true love?'

Inu-yasha deeply sighs. He looks at Kikyo, his eyes hidden in the
shadows of his bangs. He looks at Sango, Miroku and Shippo.

‘And getting Kagome back is worth anything.' He thinks, as he
ruthlessly suppresses any other feelings for Kagome he has.

He nods at them, clears his throat and as his mouth opens to
speak to them.

"I will help. No tricks." Kikyo announces, before he makes a
sound. ‘I was about to loose him.' She thinks.

Everyone looks at her, surprised expressions on all of their
faces.

Kikyo, with a grim look on her face, nods. "I will expect all of
you to remember this. And I will expect a favor in return."

"How big a favor?" Sango asks before the others.

"If you don't bring Kagome back, I don't owe you anything."
Shippo barks out.

Miroku and Keade slowly nod, agreeing with them.

Inu-yasha crosses his arms over his chest and wordlessly growls.

Kikyo nods. "A good question, Exterminator. And one that I cannot
answer right now." She nods again. "That will be determined when
I succeed."

"Good enough." Miroku replies before anyone else can speak.

Kikyo glares at all of them, then spins on her heels. "I will
return with her." She says as she stalks out of the village.

****************************************

Kirara meows and twists in Sango's arm. She points Kirara down,
as she asks Keade. "Now what?" Kirara's tail flips up as Kirara
slinks around the corner of Keade's hut.

Keade says, "We wait, Sango. My sister will cast her spell and
return."

"What if she brings her back, then hurts her?" Shippo asks.

"Brat!" Inu-yasha growls at Shippo. "She'd never do that."

Shippo glares at Inu-yasha. "Idiot. Your senses are good enough
to know what goes on between Kagome and Kikyo."

Inu-yasha flushes. "Nothing happens between them." He growls. He
turns and jumps into the woods, headed to the god tree.

"He just will not admit it, will he?" Sango whispers.

Miroku sighs. "I don't think that will be a problem, Shippo."

Shippo barks, "why?"

"Because right now, Kikyo wants to rub her goodwill and
helpfulness in our faces." Sango replies. "She wants us to
acknowledge that we needed her help."

"And we'll pay a price for it." Miroku adds.

Sango and Shippo nod.

"If she brings back Kagome, it'll be worth it." Shippo adds in.

********************************************

In the forest . . .

Kikyo is moving around in a clearing. She is using a long stick
to draw magical symbols in the dirt, as she prepares her spell.

Kirara, a full sized Kirara, stalks into the clearing.

Kikyo looks at Kirara. She frowns. "Why are you here, demon?"

Kirara lays down on the ground, staring at Kikyo.

"The exterminator told you to spy on me, to make sure that'll not
hurt her." Kikyo accuses Kirara.

Kirara's head shakes in a no gesture and Kirara yawns. The fangs
in the wide-open mouth glisten in the sunlight.

"That does not impress me."

Kirara nods. Kirara sniffs and grins.

‘I felt something.' Kikyo thinks. ‘During that sniff . . . ' she
blinks. ‘That old legend . . . About demonic cats sucking out
the souls of children . . . '

"Why?" Kikyo asks, as she shifts away from Kirara, recognizing
that Kirara is a threat to her.

Kirara stares at her.

Kikyo flushes, "I was not going to hurt her." She growls out.
‘Well . . . maybe, if she was unconscious when she appeared. Who
knows what would have happened?' she thinks.

Kirara continues to stare at her.

Kikyo glares at Kirara, "why?" She frowns, "You have been
connected to the jewel since it's beginning . . . " She starts to
say.

Kirara nods.

Kikyo slowly nods, "And, as such, you probably want the Jewel of
the Four Souls put together and purified as much than any of
them."

Kirara nods.

Kikyo glares, "And so, you are here, making sure that everything
goes smoothly."

Kirara nods.

Kikyo grimaces, nods and continues her spell.

********************************

Later . . .

Back at Keade's hut.

"Where's Kirara?" Miroku asks.

"Kirara left soon after Kikyo left. I thought it was to use the
bushes." Sango replies. She looks at Miroku.

Miroku purses his lips. "Interesting . . . "

"KIkyo is walking into the village." Shippo calls down from the
roof, where he has been watching for her.

Everyone exits the hut. Inu-yasha jumps down from the tree that
he has been sulking in.

Kikyo, and only Kikyo, is walking up to the hut.

Kirara slinks around the corner of Keade's hut and twirls around
Sango's ankles.

Kikyo stops in front of the hut. There are dark circles under her
eyes, and her hair is frazzled.

"It didn't work." Shippo declares.

"She's alive." Kikyo slowly says in a tried voice.

"But that's it?" Shippo asks.

Kikyo nods. Then, looking at Inu-yasha, she says, "I did connect
to her soul."

Everyone's attentions focus's on Kikyo.

"And, I could feel her emotions."

"How is she feeling?" Miroku asks, before the others.

Kikyo, still staring at Inu-yasha, replies, "She's in love with
Sesshomaru." A ghost of a smile appears on her lips.

"What!?" Inu-yasha yells! "Never! She loves!" He clamps his hands
around his mouth, so he can't speak.

"That, Kikyo, is a lie." Sango growls out. "There is no way that
she'd fall in love with Sesshomaru. She cares about and loves . .
. " She glances at Inu-yasha. Inu-yasha's eyes beg her to be
circumspect. Sango finishes with, "someone else, not Sesshomaru."

Kikyo shrugs. "That is what I felt."

Miroku shakes his head. "No. That is what you said. And you said
that to upset Inu-yasha." He declares.

"Monk." Kikyo glares at Miroku.

Miroku glares back at her.

"I did do my best." Kikyo grits out. "I will expect a favor in
return."

Kikyo glares at everyone in the group, spins on her heel and
leaves the village.

**********************************

later, that night . . .

Inu-yasha is sitting on his limb on the god tree. In between his
hands is a fist-sized rock. On the ground below him are splinters
of rock, from the head-size rock that he carried up with him.

Shippo jumps next to Inu-yasha.

Inu-yasha ignores him.

"You know that she was lying."

A pause . . .

"Inu-yasha?"

"MY goddamned bastard of a brother . . . " Inu-yasha growls out.
"He wants my sword. I can see him wanting her, just to piss me
off."

"She'd never." Shippo begins to say.

Inu-yasha curls his lips as he grounds out, "All it'll take is a
couple of tears, a fake story of a bad childhood." In an
undertone, he says, "Like the Lord of the Western Lands ever had
bad childhood, like I did."

Inu-yasha snarls. "She'll believe him. She always believes those
sob stories." The rock in his grasp splits from the pressure he's
applying to it.

Shippo looks at the pieces of rock, looks at Inu-yasha's face.
"She sees through lies like that."

"Maybe, but it takes awhile." He replies after a pause. "And who
knows what he'll do when she refuses him?"

Inu-yasha's fingers curl into a fist. Red blood begins to drip
from his palm. "And the bastard . . . He'll take her. I can see
it. Even if she tries fight him off, he'll take her. Just to
prove that anything that is mine is his . . . "

"Inu-yasha?" Shippo places his hand on inu-yasha's fist. "Do you
want me to get Sango or Miroku?"

Inu-yasha shakes his head, no. ‘I can't let her alone with
Sesshomaru any longer.' He thinks. ‘So? What else is there?'

"Where's that fucking scroll that Keade made for her mother?"
Inu-yasha growls as he jumps off the tree, causing Shippo to
blown up into his balloon shape and float away.

‘Well . . . that wasn't exactly how I wanted him to tell her,
but . . . as long as she knows, hopefully everything will be ok,
right?' Shippo thinks as he lands on the ground.

He quickly runs to the well, trying to catch up with Inu-yasha.

‘I'm too late.' Shippo thinks, as he watches the blue glow from
the well fade . . .

********************************************

On Kagome's side of the well . . .

It is deep in the night . . .

Kagome's mother's eyes snap open. Someone is shaking her shoulder
and growling in her ear. "Wake up."

She blinks, trying to see. There is enough light from the open
window for her to see who's in her bedroom. "Inu-yasha?"

Inu-yasha stops shaking her and stands up. He turns around, "get
dressed, there is something I need you to do." He grumbles.

She frowns at the tone and wording, "What?"

Nothing.

"Inu-yasha." She grinds out. "If you are here and she is not, and
you need my help . . . " She pauses.

Inu-yasha cringes.

"That tells me all I need to know. What happened to my daughter?"

A pause.

"Get dressed and I'll tell you." Inu-yasha whispers as he jumps
out the window.

Less than a minute later, in Kagome's room.

Inu-yasha is sitting, Indian style, on her bed as Mrs. H opens
the door. She is wearing a housecoat over her nightgown. She
flicks on the light as she closes the door behind her.

She looks at him, and doesn't say a thing . . .

Inu-yasha breaks eye contact and looks down in his hand. In Inu-
yasha's hands is a scroll. He looks at it and flips it to her.

She catches it, still not without opening her mouth.

A pause . . .

"She's lost." Inu-yasha in a ghost of voice, whispers into the
still room. His voice catches, "I can't find her. Nothing that
I've tried has worked." Pain leaks through his voice.

Mrs. h bites her lips. ‘He's in pain.' She clutches the scroll.
"And this?" She waves the scroll at him.

"You are her mother. There is a connection between you. On the
scroll is a spell, Keade says it'll allow you to reach her and
bring her back."

Mrs. H looks at the scroll and looks at Inu-yasha. "And you tried
everything else." She whispers.

He nods.

"Inu-yasha? Why wasn't I the first to know, instead of the last?"
She asks in a quiet voice.

Inu-yasha freezes. His face whitens to shade close to the shade
of his hair. "We . . . "

"Don't blame them. You are the only one that can come through the
well."

He pauses, as his mouth opens and closes a couple of times.
"I..." he growls.

"I was sure that the other plans would work and I didn't want to
worry you, since I was sure that I was going to save her." He
whispers.

Mrs. H slowly nods. "You told me the truth."

She sits down on the bed, next to him. Her hand moves next to his
thigh. "Very well, Inu-yasha. I forgive you." She whispers.

His hand finds hers. His rough clawed fingers grip her fingers.

"How?" He whispers. "How can you forgive me? She's . . . I've .
. . "

Higurashi Kimiko squeezes Inu-yasha's hand. "Because, Inu-yasha,
I know that you tried you best. Sometimes anyone can fail, but,
as long as you tried your best, I'm not going to blame you."

Inu-yasha swallows as her fingers squeeze his.

"Now," Mrs. H says as her free hand opens the scroll. "Tell me
what I need to do."

**********************************

Sunrise . . .

Kagome's bedroom. Mrs. h is laying on the bed. Inu-yasha is
pacing beside it. Around the bed is a couple of candles. Incense
is floating up from a bowl at the base of the bed.

Kagome's mother shudders and opens her eyes. She moans,
"nnnooooo!"

She sits up and wraps her arms around her. Inu-yasha says, "Are
you all right?"

Mrs. H looks at him, her eyes slowly return to normal. She
blinks, and shakes her head.

"I'm . . . " She swallows. "I'm fine."

She rubs her head, trying to relive the headache. "If I was
trained and experienced, I think it would have worked, but."

Inu-yasha grimaces. "It didn't"

"I felt her, Inu-yasha." She whispers.

"Is she safe?" he asks quickly.

She nods. "Yes."

"She not hurt?"

"She's fine." Mrs. H says, ‘A little sunburned, but, that's
minor.' She thinks.

"My brother hasn't done anything . . . " inu-yasha begins to say,
then he pauses. "Wrong to her." He finishes.

Kagome's mother looks at Inu-yasha. "Nothing like that."

Inu-yasha sighs in relief.

‘Do I tell him everything that I felt?' she thinks. ‘No.
Everything I felt was still new. And her feelings toward Inu-
yasha are still there.'

Mrs. H clears her throat, "inu-yasha, if anything, what she feels
about you, remains the same."

Inu-yasha turns to hide his smile. In a harsh voice, "But you
couldn't get her back."

Mrs. H sighs, "No." She looks around. "I'm tried. I'll rest up
and try again in a few days. I'll get better at this and sooner
or later, I'll grab her. And I'll get her back, Inu-yasha."

He turns around, a surprised expression on his face. "Are you
sure?"

She nods. "Yes, I'm sure." She sighs, "I don't know how much time
it will take, but, I'm sure that Kagome will return."

Inu-yasha nods. In a gruff voice he says, "Well, I'm going to
return to the others and tell them that. Shippo, I'm sure, will
be glad to hear that."

He jumps through the window and runs into the well house.

‘I think that made him happy.' Kagome's mother thinks as she
looks out the window.

She looks over Kagome's room. ‘Kagome . . . please come home
soon.' She bites her lips. ‘I lied to him, trying to keep his
hopes up. Because, even if I can get her back, it'll take a long
time. That much I'm sure of.'

She sits down on her daughter's bed and cries. "Please, Kagome,
please return home."

The end chapter 54.

Story list.... In case somebody wants to read some of the other stories that I've done...

I've had people ask for a list of my stories in reading order, since I try to make all my stories read
as one super-large (meta) story . . .

The different name for some stories is because I post on fanfiction.net, mediaminner.org and
adultfanfiction.net. And sometimes I changed the titles, trying to get more readers. (And I am
listed under the penname "jeffs" on all three sites)

First up is "what's in the backpack" This is my first story, so . . . start with it.

"Kagome's first kill" is set early in the manga/anime series. It deals with Kagome's casual
attitude to the death/destruction she sees in the past . . .

Short one-shots that can be read in any order. The only limit is: they come before the story "A
Shard in Kyoto"

They are:

"99 sits for Inu-yasha or 99 Bottles of Beer": Kagome gets really upset at Inu-yasha . . .

"I hate that Nightmare": A nightmare of Kagome's . . .

"Kirara": a different, and spooky, look at Kirara . . . This story came in 3rd place as best one-shot
by Inuyasha fanfiction guild.

"Rabbit Season": Inu-yasha vs. Bugs Bunny . . . This story came in 2nd place as best humor by
Inuyasha fanfiction guild.

"What is Miroku's full name" or "Moroboshi Miroku": Inside joke for readers of Rumiko
Takahashi's older manga/anime.

A larger story, but also one that can be read anywhere in the sequence before "a shard in Kyoto"

"A ghost story for Halloween" or "Naraku's Halloween":... there are more people that want to see
him dead then just Inu-yasha . . .

"When Friends find out . . . ": is my first large story. Kagome's friends find out of about the well
& inu-yasha. There are some scenes in it I really like (Kagome/Miroku, Mrs. H vs. Inu-yasha &
the Kagome/Sota scene) but, this is my first large story, so . . . the chapters are not in the proper
order, ok. Sigh . . .

"When the boys are away": Kagome & Akane from Ranma, at an archery tournament . . . one of
them . . . gets kidnaped (like normal, right?). But . . . the boys aren't there to help . . . This
story came in 2nd place best crossover from the Inuyasha fanfiction guild.

"What to do about Evil" or "what is evil": the group faces a different type of evil than the standard
"evil demon" very hard story, read with caution . . .

The Sex ed arc . . . Kagome learns the differences in sexual mores between the past and the
present . . .

Read in this order . . .

"Why is Miroku a Pervert?" : details about the religious order that Miroku belongs to . . . one that
encourages perversion . . . (at least in a modern sense.)

"Spring fertility festival" or "spring fertility festival in the feudal ages": Keade organizes a public
orgy . . . Kagome does a striptease . . . Sango/Miroku public sex . . .

"I-shin-po" or "ishinpo A spring fertility spinoff": The joy of Sex. In the feudal ages . . . "Sex is
good for you. Do it often."

"Yobai: Night Visits of spring fertility festival": The girls of Keade's village . . . invite Kagome
to join in their co-ed sleep overs . . .

"When friends find out Spring Fertility Festival" or "Girl Talk: when friends find out Spring
Fertility festival": Kagome & 3 modern friends talk about what happened in Spring fertility
festival . . . and how it affects Kagome's thinking about sex . . .

"Motherhood" Kagome learns about natural childbirth and child care in feudal japan. Natural
childbirth & incest is talked about. You are warned. Kagome decides wither or not to breast feed
Shippo and do more....

"The hammock": A series of humor scenes centering around a hammock. Also a serious Kikyo vs.
Kagome scene . . .

"A shard in Kyoto": the group travels to the capital of Japan . . . very complex storyline . . .
includes geisha house scenes . . . with a Kagome/Miroku & Inu-yasha/Sango lemon sequence . . .

"Kagome! Where are you?!" : Kagome & Sesshomaru romance/lemon . . . they are lost in
alternate universes . . . a blanket scenario . . . dinosaurs . . . aliens vs. Predators . . . ancient
Japan . . . Middle earth (Lord of the rings) . . . vampires (Dracula rules the world . . . ) . . . the
world with NO magic. (Germany won WWII world...) Gilligan's Island...

The Story "Kagome destroys the World" is not part of my meta-story per say... but, I do plan on
visiting this world as part of "kagome where are you"

The last story is:

"The Day after Inu-yasha proposes to Kagome": What comes (in more ways then one) next . . .
This is just a scene, not a real story . . . but . . . I am working toward it . . .

Stories that are part of the above, but they don't really fit in the above sequence easily . . .

"Letters to Kagome's Mother": is an odd story/idea. The basic idea is that Mrs. H & the group
exchange letters on a regular basis, is something that is happening in my stories. But.. I have not
written the letters. Basically Mrs. H knows a lot more about the group than in the manga, and the
group has a better idea of Kagome's world than they do in the manga as well.

"Kagome's new Baby Brother" story: Is a difficult story to place. Like "letters to Kagome's
mother" it is a background story. The story takes place over a 10-month time period, during which
many of my stories occur. So, off screen, Kagome, Miroku and Mrs. H are exchanging
letters/pictures as Mrs. H pregnancy advance and after the birth of Miroku's son. (Chances are
this story starts . . . Before "A shards in Kyoto" but probably only by a few weeks/a couple of
months. So . . . Mrs. H would be pregnant during "a shard in Kyoto" and "Kagome where are")

The following stories are not part of my meta story:

"Kirara & Hachi Miroku's raccoon companion" or "love potion gone wrong": A very odd love
pairing . . .

Pure Ranma stories: all take place before "when the boys are away"

read in this order . . .

"Game is Cat and mouse": Akane vs. Shampoo.

"Peanuts": Ranma: Charlie Brown. Nabiki: Lucy . . . and a football . . .

"Seppuku": Ranma . . . explores this option in his life . . .

"The Seat": Bathroom humor . . .

"Momijigari": Ryouga proposes to Akari . . . also Ranma/Akane waff.

Authors' note: I've had reviewers ask about the future plans for
this story. "When will they return home?" "How many worlds are
left?" etc.

So, I've set up a separate web-page with a short outline for my
future plans on it.

Remove the spaces for the link.
