A Look At Things

Count
D’s P.O.V.

Humans.
Such pathetic and lowdown creatures never existed before. They
destroy the planet they live on, and have no care for any other life
but their own. What they don’t know, or fear, they label as
monsters. They are the only race that kills its own, ruthless and
corrupt, wanting only their own way and not heeding the consequences.

Pampered
and spoilt, humans have no knowledge of what it is to suffer the
agonies of true hunger and thirst. They can’t see beyond their
noses. Willing to discard the future for the present, they upset the
ecosystem, sending the earth spiraling down a path of wanton
destruction and pollution. Even a newborn babe is not without guilt.
Each and every one who exist are guilty, to some extent or another,
of destroying that which was before them – the animals, the plants,
earth itself. All they do is defile it further for what they call
civilization, technology and culture. How foolish. And as for
culture, hmph. Don’t make me laugh. What kind of culture is it that
they have? A thin veneer of what they call gentility over a rough and
uncouth heart. So absorbed are they with their own foolish worries,
they care naught for others at times, and have no respect whatsoever
for the earth and those who came before them.

And yet, of all living creatures, they are also
the only ones who will embrace and love those who are not of their
family, adopting and nurturing them with love and care. Heh, they
even manage to charm and bond with others without even trying very
hard. Take, for example, our Dear Detective Leon Orcot. Such a
typical human: brash, idiotic and a total jerk, uncouth and vulgar,
thinking of only one thing – sex plus caring only for his survival
and those of his race. He doesn’t care about the Natural World one
whit, nor does he seem to have any education, etiquette or culture.
But somehow, just somehow, with him, and Chris… well, the human
world doesn’t seem as bad as it was…arguing with him, outfoxing
him…we had a bond, a camaraderie that was never there before and
which will be something that we never will have again…
