Chapter 2/ Yikes!
"Hey...Abby, right?" asked a cute guy from across my table. I blushed, "Yes. And you are?" "Drew, I'm new here."
"Oh, me too!" The bell rang and everybody shifted seats, including Drew. "Oh, no. You do not choose your own
seats! Wait until I assign them to you," Mrs. Kwan ordered. I smiled at a girl wearing glasses, she looked away.
Umm, hello, did somebody forget their manners? I ignored it, there had to be other possible friends. Like, Drew.
As I was watching Mrs. Kwan search for her seating chart, a boy whispered in my right ear, "I hope I get to sit next
to you." I turned as he walked back to his temporary seat, Drew. I love it here! I have never had this much luck
with hot guys! "Okay class, let's start with you two," Mrs. Kwan announced, directing her eyes to Drew and I. I
blushed at the sudden attention from the class. All across the room whispers and whistles were heard. I was
relieved that this was one of three classes that I didn't have with Eli. Ooohhh, his name gives me chills just
thinking of it. Ahh, he was so sweet and cute. Not at all a challenge. Hmm... I stared as Eli walked through the
door, dressed in a suit, not a formal one though. And wearing a hat. What I really love is the whole outfit together, it
is amazing. And the purple and black striped shirt, ahh purple, my favorite color. He walks over to me, and nobody
says a word. Amazing. He offers his hand, and I accept. Soft slow music plays and we dance. The two of us,
alone. I don't know where everyone went, but oh well. He smiles and whispers, "You have the most amazing
eyes." I smile, and he leans in and.... "Abby! Abby Blair!" "Uh, um, what?" I snapped out of my daydream and
looked up at Mrs. Kwan who was becoming angrier by the second. "Please take your seat next to Drew Torres."
He waved, and winked. Ugh, daydreaming about Eli and then being taunted with thoughts of Drew? What kinda
sick game is this? "Okay everyone, now that we are in place, let's take out those text books! Now, as you know,
Latin is one of the most...." and on and on she went! Literature is so not my thing! After the endless minutes of her
class, the bell rang. Yay! Lunch time! I ran to my locker and found Eli, happy as usual. "What's with you?" I asked,
hoping his joy would rub off. I needed any excuse to have Drew erased from my memory. For some reason, I felt
strongly about him, in a hate way. Not love. Odd... "Oh, nothing. Just aced a back-to-school Science quiz!" "Oh,
Eli, that's wonderful! Celebrate with a thin slice of cheesecake courtesy of our very own lunchroom?" "Haha, I'd
love to share one." "Me, too." After waiting through a very short line of people, we took our seats across from the exit.
Drew was right behind us, and headed my direction after he paid. "Hey goreous, Kwan is amazing for making us
partners, don't you think? Oh, and what's with the daydreaming in class? Thinking of me already?" Drew rudely
interrupted. Well, how else do you interrupt someone? "Actually," I reached across the table and grabbed Eli's
hand, "I was thinking of my boyfriend." "Ohh, I see. Well, you two enjoy your lunch," Drew apologized, then winked
as he walked to join Ali from my homeroom, across the room. "So, boyfriend?" Eli asked, quite pleased with the
term. "Well, he wasn't gonna go away if I didn't say so. Why?" "No reason, I like it. And, um, daydreams?" I blushed.
"I love that," he admired. "What?" "Your blush. You're embarrassed? Why?" "Well, I was sorta daydreaming about...
you," I finished sheepishly. "Ahh, I see. Not to feel shame, my love. I find it flattering." "Nice." "What exactly did you
dream of?" "Oh, you know, the usual..." "No, I don't think I know. Please, elaborate," he encouraged. When I
didn't answer, he nodded. "I know, me and you have something in common. We are direct people, until things
become personal," at the word personal, he looked down, and I couldn't meet his gaze. Strange...
The bell rang, okay, that was getting annoying. We both stood up, and Eli carried on as if no awkward pause in
conversation had occured. "Well, are we still on for after school?" "Absoulutely," I answered, unaware of his sudden
tense mood.

When I arrived to yet another non-Eli class, I began to panic. Drew was there, again. The odds of him being in any-
more of my classes are six. That's a lot of classes. Can I resist temptation? Drew spotted me, and winked. He made
his way over to me, and brushed my shoulder. "I told you, I have a boyfriend," I nervously stated. "Oh, you mean
emo boy? I'm not afraid to take a risk. He won't have to know," He grabbed my waist and grinned. Yikes!
