Trail By Ketsueki
By: May-VeggieGirl1

Alright, I am OFFICIALLY sick of waiting. T_T++ If you don't read my comment, you won't have any clue what the hell is going on in this chapter then you would review asking me what all this about and I would be angry. You don't want me angry. -.-+
First off, this is the continuation of Requi's Revenge. If you haven't read it yet, read this first, review, then go back to Requi's Revenge to R & R it, cuz it won't matter either way. On another note, I am VERY aware that I haven't posted (or started) the last chapter of that fic. ^^;;;
Secondly, there are a few errors in how I'm about this but I really don't give a damn. This chapter should be stuck somewhere are chapter 5 or 6 in Trial By Ketsueki. Meaning you should be wondering these questions by the end of the chapter:
1) What the hell is the prophecy?
2) What the hell is project 00723?
3) Where the hell are they?
4) Why the hell are they there?
5) What happened with Requi?
And lastly
6) Why is the hell is the Dark Axis with them?
Alright, so you might leave out a few hells, but that's about all you don't know. If you are smart, you might not need Q#5 because logic will tell you that if Baku is alive in the continuation of Requi's Revenge (Trail By Ketsueki), then obviously he does not die in Requi's Revenge. (A/N: Aww.... ^^;)
Most of you might want me to answer those questions now...
Sorry, not gonna happen. ;p
The last thing I need to rant and rave about (literally) is the very very very very very very very very VERY small small small miniscule tiny microscopic nano amount of fluff between Captain and Baku. Everyone, please proceed to gasp at this time. >:D
The shonen-ai in this is so small, yet I'm hoping to spark something in you people. Because, look, you see Zero/Baku, you even see some relations of Shute/Baku, but Captain doesn't have as much of a one-track mind on Shute as we portray him to have (especially my fics, but that's beside the point. :p Just cuz I write something doesn't mean I agree with it ^^;;;;). He cares about Zero and Baku... just not as much as Shute, but there are reasons for that! x.x And now I really need to shaddap, so just read and review, ks?

p.s. I love angst... isn't it wonderful to be able to express the painful world we're in by torturing others? <(^_^)>
~*~*~*~*~*

Baku laid on the cold, hard floor, his eyes wide and drawing in rough, sharp breaths as the dust settled.
It just keeps getting scarier...
He could feel his eyes glaze over, either from lack of sleep or tears that wouldn't come. Either way, he was too stressed to care at this point. His whole body was stiff from the rush of fear that pounded in his veins, causing his ears to ring and his head to spin. Yet Baku continued to simply lie there paralyzed while staring to the best of his abilities at the hole in the ceiling which had previously been their floor. That was all he could do- lie there and tremble. After a few more minutes of that, the ringing stopped, the world swayed back into stability, and feeling returned to his numb body. He recognized it with the stinging feeling spreading all over his backside from the fall. Or was it another dose of fear? Baku swallowed hard, trying to gain the moisture lost in his throat from almost hyperventilating.
He wondered how much more he could take of this abuse while rolling on his side and curling himself into a ball to cry.

Captain coughed while sitting upright, the dust swirling around him and the broken wood. He blinked a few times, attempting to fully retain an awake state of mind before concluding on anything. Feeling a bit more conscious, he glanced up at the broken ceiling then back down to the dull, rotten wood lying in pieces at his side. Tired, he rubbed his eyes before shaking his head slightly and standing up.
"Well, at least this floor can hold up..." He mumbled aloud while turning on a headlight and squinting at the basement world. The musty air remained still, boxes and broken nick-nacks scattered about in the area in a hazardous manner. Captain slightly brushed himself off and began to search for a staircase of some kind without falling and breaking his neck on the debris.

The two Zakos that hand been unlucky to have fallen threw the broken flooring landed roughly on their back, waking both bots abruptly. They yelped into consciousness, glancing at each other for moral support while sitting up and shaking like a leaf.
"W-What happened, Zako?" One asked, cuddling next to the other for protection. Thankfully, the other was more reasonable than the one, and examined the ceiling.
"It seems we fell threw the floor while everyone was asleep, Zako..." The first sighed in relief, still never ceasing his grip on the other's arm.
"At least we haven't been eaten by projects 00723 or attacked by a ghost yet..." The other raised an invisible eyebrow while blinking at the first Zako.
"Yet?"
"Yet..." The first confirmed while shivers ran up the small droids back. The other rolled his eye to the side while shaking his head.
"There is no yet, Zako! If projects 00723 were still here, they would have attacked us by now-"
"Be quiet!" The first whispered whiled covering his companion's mouth. "They can hear you..." He let go and glanced about to each side nervously.
"Fine, be paranoid. I don't care, let's just get back with everyone else on the upper floor..." A light swung by, freezing on them. The two Zakos froze like deer in headlights as they frightfully watched the light approach them.
"Hey, you two. Come on, let's get back up there since the floor caved in..." Captain muttered to the two Zakos as they sighed in relief before trudging behind his lead, the nervous one shuffling his feet cautiously the whole time. After moving around a giant box, Captain abruptly paused, causing the two Zakos to run into him. The one Zako screamed while jumping into the other's arms. The other glared at the Zako before dropping him.
"Will you chill, Zako?!" Captain glanced to both sides while focusing on whatever sound he heard.
"Was that... whimpering?" He asked himself aloud while scanning the area to the best of his abilities before a thought struck him cold. What if Shute fell down here also and hurt himself during the fall or landing on the rubble? He trembled slightly just at the thought of it, turning his eyes back the dark world, determined. "Hello? Who is out there??"
"I knew it!!" The frightened Zako proclaimed while cowering behind Captain. "Projects 00723 ARE alive!!! They're whimpering to catch us off our guard then suck the life out of us!!!!" The other Zako smacked the first, Captain continued to ignore them while secretly praying Shute was alright.
"THERE IS NO PROJECT 00723!!!" He cried exasperated while shaking the Zako back and forth.
"THERE IS TOO!!!! I'VE SEEN PICTURES, ZAAKOOOO!!!"
"Could you two please be quiet, I'm trying to locate the source of the noise..." The other Zako, also known as the voice of reason, dropped his comrade and folded his arms stubbornly. The paranoid Zako continued to tremble in fear on the ground. Captain continued to walk off in a chosen direction, shining his light to each side before halting again, recognizing a familiar yellow horn sticking out from behind an old computer table. He stepped around and peered down. "Bakunetsumaru?" Baku sniffed while lifting his head slightly off the ground to Captain and forcing on a smile.
"Hey Captain..." He said before his weary head flopped back on the ground. Concerned, Captain knelt down next to him on the side he was facing.
"Were you crying just now?" Baku blinked some tears out of his eyes, rubbing his face with his hands.
"No," Baku lied, his pride as a warrior still putting up a good fight against his honesty. Captain could easily tell, but decided not to venture much further there.
"Are you alright?" He debated to himself in his head, his nerves were so shot he didn't think he could pull off a fake 'alright' status.
"Not really..." he confessed in a soft murmur as his body trembled out of pure habit.
At least Bakunetsumaru can admit that...
Captain shook the thought from his head and continued to question.
"Are you injured?"
"No..."
"Here, let me help you up." Captain extended his hand to him friend cheerfully. "We should be getting upstairs with everyone else. Maybe you'll feel better with a good night's rest, then we can go look into this 'prophecy' some more." Baku's body tightened defensively, going back into a panic state. He lowered his head closer to his body while his hands moved up to clutch the sides of his head. He laid there, writhing in pain, while feeling the anger and remorse rising up in him.
"No, Captain..." Captain raised his head slightly in surprise, drawing his hand back. "I can't get a good night's rest, I can't go look into the prophecy with you guys anymore, I can't handle this STUPID PRESSURE night after night, day after day..." Captain sat there next to him, blinking in utter confusion. Baku sat up and grabbed Captain roughly by the shoulders, his eyes overflowing with tears for mercy.
"I can't handle this!! Every night since I read the prophecy, I must be burdened to see it unfold in my every dream! The same thing, every night! Just being forced to watch everything you've worked for in life, we've worked for in life, go to hell as those two destroy everyone savagely and mercilessly... I've never been so afraid..." Baku sobbed into Captain's chest, the salty tears dripping down his face. "I never get a break, I'm always the prey. I don't want to live in fear, I want to be able to breath easy again..." His grip on Captain's shoulders increased, causing Captain to wince from the pain but failed to bring his attention away from his mentally traumatized friend. Baku's lurid face looked up and locked his blurry, tear-filled eyes with Captain's.
"And to know it's really gonna happen, that it's not just a nightmare... it makes me feel like ripping my own gun soul out just to get away from all of this bullshit..." He paused to swallow hard. "I just can't handle this constant stress anymore... I can't take it..." Baku continued to cry while curling into a ball again and leaning up against Captain. Captain sat there uncomfortably, an awkward silence filling the tense air as he simply watched Baku's shaking body against his chest. His eyes soften as he stroked Baku's head gently and pulled him closer in a hug.
"Shhh, it's okay, Bakunetsumaru..." He said while trying to calm his flustered friend down. "We won't lose. Just try to get some rest." Captain leaned Baku against the table carefully as he hiccuped and opened his eyes again.
"I can't..." He mumbled while sliding back to the floor to lie on his back, letting his eyes flutter shut.

Captain stood, turning back to where he had originally came from.
"Zakos- report." The other Zako unenthusiastically rose his hand in attention. "I need you two to get Baku back upstair-... where's the other Zako?" The single Zako blinked, turning around in the dark in an attempt to look for his friend.
"I dunno, Zako. He probably got scared and ran off already." The Zako suggested while sweatdropping. Captain, feeling fatigue wash over him again, shrugged his shoulders before turning back to Baku, still peacefully lying on the musty ground.
"Alright, help me get him upstairs, he is probably too capricious to get up there by himself."
"ZAkooo!" He turned back to the only Zako remaining to find nothing there. Feeling a bit uneasy, Captain took a step back while readying his beam saber without turning it on. He turned around the computer desk to Baku and crouched down beside him.
"Bakunetsumaru," He whispered quietly. "Please be as silent and still for me as you possibly can..." Baku only responded with a few soft hiccups and cold shudders. He glanced back to the dark void, his radar eyepiece flipped down over his right eyes as he tried to check the area for any form of life or movement. He sat as still as a statue, the only movement were the hush breaths he took and his eyes moving back and forth to examine the basement.
The room was filled with an macabre tone- the death-like silence, the darkness, the paranoia that there was something out there hunting you. Captain shifted to the side nervously while keeping a sharp eye for any kind of movement.
Captain suddenly jerked his head to the side to find nothing there again. He sighed, wondering how he could have thought something was there, before returning to his post.
And it stayed like this for seconds. Very long seconds that rivaled hours, even so that one could swear up and down that they could count the milliseconds during those seconds. Seconds where you could not only memorize the number of heart beats but feel each pulsation spreading from your chest. Seconds when you can feel the sides and back of your head whither under the length of the seconds.
Yes, those seconds.
"I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!!" Baku screamed at the top of his lungs, deafening poor, unsuspecting Captain who almost had a heart attack at the same time. Halfway in shock, Captain turned to Baku in a dazed stupor. Baku ignored his friend and rolled over on his stomach to bury his head in his arms to cry. Captain blinked for a few more seconds before coming back to life.
"Bakunetsumaru, I asked you to be quiet!" An incisive hiss sent a shiver up Captain's spine as he turned back to the dark room to find something coming at him. Not having enough time to see what it was in the light, he slashed whatever it was with his sword. It screeched before tumbling backwards and landing roughly somewhere in the darkness.
"You think you're something else huh? Killing off everyone and such..." Captain turned back to Baku in shock to find the small and sleek 00723 face to face with the samurai. Baku glared at it's metallic coating as it hunched it's tiny body down near it's unusually large and flat foot. "You're nothing compared to those two..."
"Baku!," Captain yelled as he kicked the creature before it struck Baku's arm with it's single, rounded fang. Baku continued to angrily stare at the same spot, unflinching. "They're still alive it seems," he stated while holding his sword defensively. "Come on, Bakunetsumaru, take out your swords and get up!"
"I don't care. It's a good thing if these things kill us off now..." More hissing followed behind, Captain scanned the area while trying not to get frustrated at Baku.
"Now is not the time for this Baku! We need to get everyone and leave immediately- as a team! Even the Dark Axis is somewhat cooperating." He paused to glance at Baku, who had closed his eyes in affliction and head still resting on his arms, before returning to the targets. "There are five of them in here- who knows how many more might be attacking Shute, Zero, and the others upstairs, especially when they are off guard!"
"I can't do it Captain. I'm sorry..." The monsters leaped out of the shadows, Captain kept them at bay, slashing them away from Baku at the same time. "My body can't handle any more stress... I can't handle it anymore..." Captain glanced down at Baku's closed distressed eyes while pondering, and nodded sincerely.
"Baku, I unders-" One of the many projects attacked Captain from behind, completely catching him by surprise, and dug it's fang into Captain's shoulder. The fang suddenly grew, shooting out on the other side on him. Baku shuddered at the sound of the tearing metal as Captain yelped in distress. One eye closed agonizingly as he tore the thing off his backside and held the pierced hole, blood/oil trickling down both sides of his arm. He took in a sharp breath while trying to move it, pain shooting up his arm.
This is bad... our whole team is separated...
Captain continued to hold his beam saber unwavering while watching the projects shifty movements. They drew closer, slowly surrounding the two.
And Baku is immobile because the adrenaline from his dreams are forcing his body to shut down, since only humans go threw shock...
He put the saber in his bad hand and swiftly grabbed Baku, throwing the slightly alarmed gundam over his good shoulder. "Bakunetsumaru, hang on!"
"Yeah," Baku said while struggling to wrap his arms around his neck. Captain broke threw the line of the monstrous beings while running, painfully slashing at any that confronted them. Baku watched as Captain jumped over and around cluttered junk while attacking the nimble beings.
He's so good under pressure... still, I already know he can't go up against them...
Baku's breath caught in his throat at the mental image of that dark gundam's dead eyes, forcing him into another fit of unruly sobs and catching Captain's worried glance. Baku's eyes clenched as he tried desperately to control the small spasms in his chest.

I wish I were blind...
