Chapter 2. Mystery girl

-a girl. Mitsui gulped. She looked to be 16 or 17 years old. She was tall and had a nice body with long legs which were flaunted by her outfit- Chinese neckline sleeveless tabard with a purple sash tied around her waist, only she wasn't wearing any pants underneath it- just short black shorts. She had long, silky dark brown hair, soft-looking pink lips and pale skin. She was wearing black boots and metal armbands with inscriptions he couldn't read. But the most captivating of all in her features were her eyes. She had amethyst eyes that just seem to put a spell on you. To Mitsui she was just… beautiful. However what made them notice her right away were not her strange clothes or her body or her face but it was her expression. She was wearing an expression of pure loathing- directed only to Rukawa.

The girl turned around to smile sweetly in Akagi, Kogure, Miyagi and other team members' direction. Bowing politely she spoke in a lovely alto voice that sounded like music wind makes… it was certainly different, "Gomenasai for intruding however hajimemashita mina."

She looked back at Rukawa.

Rukawa however looked puzzled. "I'm sorry but… who are you?"

He crossed her arms over her chest. "Funny how hanging out with ningens should make you forget about your old family…. and your past," she said in a spiteful voice.

Rukawa felt his heart stop. It couldn't be- -

The girl took out a ruby amulet and threw it for Rukawa to catch. "Here," she said coldly. "You left this when you left us…" She turned to leave but Rukawa grabbed her hand.

The girl's eyes flashed with anger. "Hanase…" she said in a quiet yet threatening tone.

Rukawa forced himself to look into her eyes. He seemed to drown into those violet endless pools of mystery, emotions… and remorse? Sadness? …. "Maya…"

The girl was the first to break contact. "Hn…"

"Why are you here? How…how are they?:

At these words the girl's eyes suddenly had a frightened look in them. She gave a cry in protest. "HANASE!"

"Answer me!" Rukawa said in a powerful tone.

"Why should I answer you? You're no long our danchou! And you left us a long time ago! Why should I answer you?" she shouted bitterly.

"Maya please… I'm sorry…. I just…. I just want to know… please tell me" Rukawa pleaded.

The girl was quiet, her head bowed down she wouldn't look his way. Then he hear a small sniffle.. it was very discreet but his hearing was quite keen.

"After you left Tomomi was… she was killed then Touya committed suicide. Kaze and I were the only ones left but we parted ways… " Her body tensed. "The bandits are gone… broken up…" she spoke in a voice softer than a whisper.

Rukawa's eyes widened. "Tomomi's dead?" His grip loosened.

Maya's eyes narrowed at his words. Her voice was angry yet it trembled. "So Tomomi-chan's the only one you care about huh? You don't care about Touya-kun! You don't care about Kaze-kun! You don't care about the bandits! It's your fault the bandits broke up!" She felt tears threatening to spill over her eyes." You don't even care about me….. I thought that…." She whimpered and removed her hand form Rukawa's grasp running out the gym with tears streaming out her eyes.

The gym was filled with awkward silence. Rukawa stared at the amulet in his eyes. No…she got it all wrong…. I'm not the one she should be angry with….Maya…. "Miyagi I've got to go," Rukawa said in an urgent tone.

Miyagi's eyes widened as he gave a feeble nod. He and Ayako exchanged looks. What was happening with Rukawa? Who was this girl Maya? Who or what were the bandits?.... What did the girl have to do with Shohoku's best player Rukawa?

(A/N: hehehehehe… feeble attempt at my 2nd chappie. I just wanted to introduce you to Maya and what relationship she might have with Rukawa… Anywasys I still have to revise my 3rd chapter but I promise not to make you guys wait too long…. REVIEW ONEGAISHIMASU!
