:-: I'm 15 for a moment

Caught in between 10 and 20 :-:

Yusuke sat silently as he waited for his cup of ramen to be served to him. It was rather stuffy in the small raman restaurant that Keiko now proudly owned, but Yusuke didn't pay much mind to it. He was seated at the counter, along with his teammates Kurama, Kuwabara, Botan, and even Hiei. Yusuke sighed as he rested his head on the counter, his arms providing a rather poor replacement for a pillow. They had just gotten back from another difficult mission, and it was Botan's suggestion that they should stop by Keiko's raman shop and celebrate.

Kuwabara was seated right beside him, being load and obnoxious as he tried to remember a joke that his sister had told him. Botan had the misfortune of being on the other side of Kuwabara, smiling a bit trying to pretend that she was actually interested in what Kuwabara had to say. Kurama was placed in-between Botan and Hiei, who was seated at the other end of the counter. Hiei mainly stayed silent until Kurama would bring up a point in their latest mission, when he would ether give a curt nod or give Kurama his opinion that was to never be ignored. As Yusuke's eyes became half closed from boredom and tiredness, he couldn't help but stare at the fire demon.

:-: And I'm just dreaming

Counting the ways to where you are :-:

Yusuke sat quietly as he secretly eyed his short time crush. It had only been a year, one long year, and he already had feelings for the cold-hearted fire demon. The beautiful midnight hair with the adorable white starburst in the middle. The stunning crimson eyes and the unbelievable power behind the small body. Yusuke had to admit, Hiei had it all. Yusuke sighed slightly as he tried to get the fire demon out of his head. Yusuke could never speak of his feelings for fear of being rejected. No, for the fact that he KNEW he would be rejected. Come on, Hiei was the hottest guy out there, he could get any girl, or guy, he wanted; there was no way he would want Yusuke. Plus the fact that Yusuke was a queer would undoubtedly leek out; Yusuke could just see Kuwabara now.

"EW GROOSE!! YOU LIKE GUYS YUSUKE!? EW EW EW! AND THAT LITTLE MIDGET OF ALL PEOPLE!! WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?"

Yusuke snorted as he buried his face in his arms from the thought of Kuwabara's reaction. `I can't tell anyone, no matter how much I want too...' Yusuke thought as he regained his composure and slowly turned his head to stare at his favorite demon again. Yusuke's mind started filling with rather uncomfortable thoughts that had to deal with him and a certain little fire demon. His face turned a light shade of pink as he mentally scolded himself for thinking such thoughts. As Yusuke battled with his inner desires Keiko had finally finished their food and startled Yusuke when she suddenly placed the steaming bowl in front of his face.

"Hey Yusuke, is there something wrong? You look a little red..." Keiko asked worryingly as she watched Yusuke devour his noodles.

"Oh, it's nothing. Its way to hot in here!"

:-: I'm 22 for a moment

He feels better than ever :-:

Yusuke sat cross-legged on his bed in silent thought. Hiei was leaning against the door with his arms crossed, eyes lowered to the floor. Yusuke was shocked when Hiei suddenly popped in through his window, but when Hiei merely stated that Kurama wasn't home, Yusuke abandoned the small hopes that he had. Yusuke noted that Hiei had gotten taller since his last return from the demon world, and he was probably a good three inches taller then he had been eight years ago when they first met. Yusuke snorted as he irritably scratched his head, becoming tired of the silence in the room as though they were complete strangers. Yusuke decided to take a nap, not caring what his crush did in the meantime; he was just too tired.

"Hey Hiei I'm gonna go ahead and take a nap. Um... you can do whatever you want I guess, raid my fridge maybe or watch some TV, I don't care. Just make yourself comfortable." Yusuke awkwardly stated as he rest his back on the headboard, closing his eyes as he yawned loudly. Suddenly he felt a slight weight on his lap and felt something press against his chest. He quickly opened his eyes to find Hiei sitting on him, seeming ready to fall asleep.

`

WHAT THE HELL! WHAT THE FUCK IS HE... hey Hiei's pretty warm...' Yusuke thought wildly as the two just sat there. Finally Yusuke regained his compositor and confronted Hiei on his sudden behavior. "Um, Hiei... what are you doing...?"

Yusuke watched as Hiei lowered his head and almost freaked when he saw a tiny hint of pink in Hiei's face. "Hn... you told me to get comfortable Detective..." Hiei quickly got up and was about to fly out the window when Yusuke grabbed his wrist. "Hiei wait!"

Hiei turned to find Yusuke clenching onto his wrist tightly, not letting him leave. As Hiei tried to stare into Yusuke's chocolate eyes Yusuke turned to stare at the now interesting chair in his room. Hiei mentally cursed himself for doing such a stupid act to make Yusuke uncomfortable; but he couldn't help it, it was almost instinct! Hiei was about to force his way out when he heard Yusuke quietly mumble something that made the demon blink in confusion.

"Well now that your little secrets out...there's no reason... well what I'm trying to say is that you should stay... I want you to stay." Yusuke mumbled as he forced Hiei back on the bed. He turned over and buried his face in his pillow trying to pretend like this wasn't happening, this couldn't be happening. Yusuke almost choked when he heard Hiei silently laugh to himself. Great... now his crush thought he was crazy...

"You remind me of a child Yusuke, it's quite adorable." Hiei chuckled as he laid next to Yusuke on his bed, putting his arms behind his head. "Fine, I'll stay if that's what you want."

`Gods, this can't be happening, Hiei just called me adorable! Where the fuck had that come from!?' Yusuke thought as he smiled into his pillow, noticing how heat seemed to just radiate off of Hiei's body.

:-: And we're on fire

Making our way back from Mars :-:

Yusuke sat next to Hiei on a park bench as they watched the beautiful sun begin to set. Yusuke had his arms draped behind the bench; one was right behind Hiei's head, which was now being used as a pillow. Hiei had his eyes closed and Yusuke had just assumed that he had fallen asleep. Hiei suddenly lifted his head off Yusuke's arm and instead placed it on Yusuke's shoulder, which earned him a muffled laugh from Yusuke. The wind blew slightly and Yusuke smiled when Hiei's hair swayed like the leaves on the trees. Yusuke reached out and ran his finger's through the midnight hair, which felt more like fur then anything else. Hiei's hair looked so spiky and even dangerous, like it could poke an eye out. But in reality, it was as soft as fur, and Yusuke just loved to run his finger's through it. It gave off a tough appearance, but on the inside it was soft to the touch, just like Hiei.

"Did I ever tell you how much I love your hair?" Yusuke joked as he continued to run his fingers through the silk like hair. "Yes, a million times already." Hiei mumbled as he sat up and grabbed Yusuke's hand, indicating that he wanted to go home.

:-: 15 there's still time for you

Time to buy and time to lose :-:

Yusuke growled as he itched the small scare on his neck, which was bugging the crap out of him. He carelessly bumped into many people as he focused his attention on the itching; muttering a few sorry's here and there.

"Yusuke stop scratching it, how many times must I tell you? Honestly it seems like you're just a child sometimes." Hiei sighed as he silently followed Yusuke down the busy sidewalks. He would much rather be jumping through the trees, but since Yusuke wasn't to good at it...

"You told me it would hurt for a bit but you failed to mention that it would itch like a bitch!" Yusuke snapped at his lover as he pushed a rather large man out of his way so he could cross the street over to the park. He plopped down on the bench rather roughly and growled as he went to itch his neck again, only to find Hiei grabbing his arm. "Stop."

"Humph, fine." Yusuke snorted as he sat in silence, Hiei standing next to him to make sure he didn't try to scratch at the bite mark Hiei had given him a couple days ago. "Why the hell did you have to bite me for anyway? Pretty weird way to signal that were lovers..." Yusuke mumbled as he crossed his arms.

Hiei sighed irritably at having to explain his actions to Yusuke yet again. But Yusuke was just having a bad reaction to the blood mixture, Hiei couldn't say he understood, but he was willing to put up with it. "It's a permanent sign to show other demon's that your taken, and to go look for another mate, cause your mine..." Hiei mumbled the last part to himself, and was glade when Yusuke failed to hear his last remark.

"So basically it's like a weird demon marriage thing?" Yusuke asked as he looked at his lover, who nodded curtly. Yusuke smiled to himself knowing that he was pretty damn lucky. He was gonna make so many demon's jealous. As Yusuke thought of ways to flaunt around showing of Hiei a sudden thought struck him.

"Hey, how come I don't get to bite you?" Yusuke asked as he turned to face the fire demon, who looked slightly shocked at the question. "It is not needed, only one needs to bear the mark...usually it's the females..." Hiei once again mumbled the last part to himself, but he wasn't that lucky this time.

"WHAT!? THE WOMEN! ARE YOU SAYING THAT I CAN'T BITE YOU BECAUSE I'M PLAYING THE CHICK IN THIS RELATIONSHIP!?!? HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT!!!"

"No idiot, I didn't make you become the woman in this relationship, you're teeth just aren't sharp enough."

"Yeah whatever! When we get back home I'm going to bite you so hard you wished you would never had made me even THINK of being a women!"

:-: 15, there's never a wish better than this

When you only got 100 years to live :-:

"What do you think, Hiei? Now we got an apartment all to ourselves! No more of my mom coming home finding you raiding our fridge." Yusuke laughed as he opened the door to their new apartment. It was a comfortable size, a nice kitchen, large living room and a well-equipped bathroom. Plus they had two bedrooms to fill, one for them (wink wink) and another for just useless crap. Hiei silently walked around the semi-small apartment, his face showing no major emotions. When he finally made his way back to their soon to be bedroom where Yusuke was opening a window to get some air into the stuffy room, he merely stated that it was `rather decent'. Yusuke laughed at he ruffled his lovers hair and pulled him into a loving embrace. "Glade you like it. You just got to put up with me for the rest of your days." Yusuke smiled as he once again ran his fingers through Hiei's hair.

"Hn, I think I'll manage" Hiei stated calmly, smiling into Yusuke's shirt.

:-: I'm 33 for a moment

Still the man, but you see I'm a they :-:

Yusuke blinked as Kurama handed his a couple of violet colored seeds. His friend was smiling at him in a friendly way, but there was sadness in his green eyes. Kurama had called him over for a nice chat, having wanted to see how Yusuke was fairing. Hiei had been gone for over a month now, on yet another one of Mukuro's missions. Yusuke missed him dearly, but he made a good effort to keep happy and cheerful.

Yusuke stared down at the seeds then looked up at his friend in question "What are these for?"

Kurama frowned a bit as he tried to find the easiest way to break the news to Yusuke. "Well, as you know Yusuke... as humans get older... they begin to age... and your no exception."

Yusuke laughed lightly, Kurama could be so weird sometimes. "Yeah I know that Kurama, but jeez what are you worried about, I'm only 33! Don't think your not getting old too!"

"I know that Yusuke, but you're missing the point. When I die, I'll return to my fox form... you'll just cease to exist." Yusuke just smiled and waved his arms around "No need to remind me! You'll become Yoko right? Big deal."

`He still doesn't get it...' Kurama thought sadly as he watched Yusuke continue to laugh. "Yusuke... the most years you could hope to achieve in living is about 100, thanks to the help with your spirit energy. Being demons, Hiei and I will live for at least two more centuries."

Yusuke stopped laughing abruptly when Kurama's words finally started to sink in. Yusuke was going to die, leaving Hiei... "So... Hiei will have to..."

"Bear the burden of leaving you behind." Kurama finished as he watched Yusuke cover his face with his hands. Kurama could not understand what Yusuke felt, but he could agree with Hiei's feelings. Slowly watching as his loved ones grew old as he was forced to continue on with his life.

"So... these seeds... there gonna make me a demon right? There gonna let me live longer so I can stay with you and Hiei!" Yusuke smiled as he figured out Kurama's plan. Kurama was just to smart for words.

"No Yusuke. They will merely give you a younger appearance. For instance if you take them tomorrow, you will look exactly like you do now for the rest of your life." Kurama stated quietly as he watched his once smiling friend. Kurama never liked being the bearer of bad news, but Kurama didn't want Hiei to have to explain this to his own lover. That would be far worse.

"I'm sorry, Yusuke. I thought this would be the best time to tell you, your still rather young. Now would be a good time to take the seeds..."

:-: A kid on the way

A family on my mind :-:

"18...19...20!! READY OR NOT HERE I COME!!" Yusuke shouted as he backed away from a tree and started looking around for any sign of movement. As Yusuke walked past Genkai's wide porch he spotted a pair of crimson eyes staring out at him. He grinned evilly as he slowly creeped over to the porch. In the blink of an eye he snatched the little devil from under the porch and laughed when he found another clinging to his leg. "GOT YA!"

"Aw you found us Uncle Yusuke!" Shoji pouted as he tried to get out of Yusuke's grasp. Shoji was an adorable little boy with crimson eyes and short spiky orange hair. His twin sister Tala was a cute little girl with big violet eyes and sea green hair. Yusuke thought that Kuwabara and Yukina were truly blessed.

"Hey kids come here for a sec!" Kuwabara shouted from inside the temple.

"Ok dad!" Shoji and Tala quickly disappeared into the house, leaving Yusuke all alone.

Yusuke sighed as he sat on Genkai's porch, watching as the Sakura petals swirled around in the air as though they were dancing. Yusuke didn't turn around when he heard soft foots steps come greet him or when he felt strong arms wrap around his neck. Hiei rested his head on Yusuke's shoulder and accompanied him in watching the Sakura petals dance around. They both just sat quietly, enjoying each other's company.

"Did you ever want to have kids?" Yusuke asked out of the blue as he watched two birds chasing each other.

"Sometimes." Hiei replied as he looked at Yusuke from the corner of his eye. "Why?"

"I was just imagining us having kids." Yusuke laughed as he leaned back against Hiei.

"Just think, with a little Hiei running around I could have all the silk like hair I wanted."

"...What if he had your hair?"

"Then I'd be pissed." Hiei sighed and shook his head slightly. Yusuke was truly a child sometimes.

"But hey, if we had a kid for every time we had sex, I'm sure we would have gotten a kid with your hair by now Hiei."

:-: I'm 45 for a moment

The sea is high :-:

"Is that a gray hair Kuwabara?! Oh man someone is getting old!" Yusuke laughed as him and Kuwabara made their way over to Shoji's and Tala's middle school to pick them up. Hiei had left a few days ago, and to help get his mind off things Yusuke agreed to walk with Kuwabara to pick up the kids.

"Shut it Urameshi! I'm not some freak like you who doesn't age! It's not healthy!" Kuwabara snapped back as they reached the front gates of the school. "Do you think any of our old class mates teach there?"

"Maybe, we should stop in and pay a visit, I beat their just dying to see us again." Yusuke said sarcastically as they waved the two-semi ice demons in their direction.

"Can you imagine how long it's been? About 30 years now I think" Kuwabara stated as they watched Shoji and Tala say goodbye to their friends.

"Yeah..." Yusuke sighed as they turned around to walk back towards Genkai's old temple. `It's been about 25 years since me and Hiei hooked up. It seems like it's only been months...' Yusuke sighed then he grinned when he heard Kuwabara shout one of his best idea's yet.

"LETS GO GET ICE CREAM!!"

"YEAH!!"

:-: And I'm heading into a crisis

Chasing the years of my life :-:

Yusuke was fast asleep, having had a long hard day watching Shoji and Tala when Kuwabara and Yukina went out for their 20th wedding anniversary. It was rather hot outside, so Yusuke had abandoned his shirt and just slept in his boxers. Little did Yusuke know that Hiei had returned from the demon world and was currently taking a shower...at three in the morning. Hiei soon stepped out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel and having nothing else on but a pair of clean pants he managed to find.

Hiei quietly walked into their room and threw his dirty clothes into the nearby hamper. Once he realized that his hair wouldn't get any dryer by just rubbing it, he threw the towel on the floor and went to open the window. Cursing the window for making the little squeaky noises as he slowly eased it open, he turned around to find his lover bathed in the rays of moonlight. He sat quietly on the windowsill and just stared at Yusuke for God knows how long. He hadn't seen him in weeks, and he never knew when he would be forced to leave him again...

"Am I going to have to force you on the bed or what?" Yusuke smirked as he sat up, having been awake for some time and getting irritated at his mate for just sitting there. He pat the bed softly then smiled when Hiei rolled his eyes at him, hearing him mutter the common words "Your such a child."

Hiei pushed himself off the windowsill and slowly made his way to the bed before he finally plopped down on his side, just sitting there and staring at the closet. Hiei heard Yusuke sigh in frustration and couldn't help but smile. `Oh how I love to torture him...'

`What a stubborn demon' Yusuke thought as he reached over and wrapped his arms around Hiei's waist, pulling him down beside him. As he laid back down Yusuke placed Hiei's head on his chest and grinned as he ran his fingers through Hiei's hair. He could never get tired of doing this, it was like heaven.

Hiei closed his eyes as he let out a relaxing sigh. How he had missed Yusuke's fingers running through his hair, it was so relaxing. Despite his dearest wishes, he was beginning to fall asleep; having to run from demon to human world was no easy task, even for him.

As he was about to fall asleep he felt something scuttle into his hair. (Lol scuttle.)

"I just love your hair, Hiei. One of these days I'm gonna steal it from you." Yusuke laughed as he burrowed his head into Hiei's soft fur like hair. Yusuke wasn't exactly sure if Hiei actually used shampoo, but his hair always smelled so good, like pinecones and the sweet smell of nature.

"Hn, sometimes I wonder if you love my hair more then you lo" Hiei was forced to abandon his sentence as Yusuke soft lips came down upon his own. They stayed like that for what seemed like eternity until Yusuke pulled back smiling. `Guess not...'

:-: 15 there's still time for you

Time to buy, Time to lose yourself :-:

"SPIRIT SWORD!!" Shoji shouted as orange energy burst into his hands, taking on the form of a sword. He smirked as he charged at Yusuke, raising the sword above his head ready to bring it down and win the match. As he came closer he watched as his Uncle just smirked, the smirk that didn't come forth unless he was in a battle. Even though it had been years since his Uncle quit being the Spirit Detective and gave the job to someone else, he was still highly respected; and Shoji wanted to earn some respect by beating him.

Yusuke just smiled as he turned around and sprinted away from the little ice demon. He had a plan, it wasn't a very good one, but he liked it.

"ARE YOU JUST GONNA RUN AWAY!?" Shoji yelled as he ran after Yusuke slowly catching up and grinning as he got ready to strike. "THIS MATCH IS MINE!!"

"Not today!" Yusuke laughed as he reached his objective: a tree. Instead of stopping or going around it Yusuke ran strait up it, going up a ways until he flipped back to meet the exposed back of Shoji, who in all his excitement had slammed face first into the tree. Yusuke calmly raised his finger to the back of Shoji's head and whispered "I win."

"DARN IT!!"

:-: Within a morning star

15 I'm all right with you :-:

Yusuke placed a cold wash cloth over Hiei's head, laughing when Hiei sneezed again, clinging rather tightly to the blankets that Yusuke had given him. Hiei looked adorable, his face was slightly pink with a fever, and his eyes were half closed, giving him a slightly `slow' appearance. His nose would twitch from time to time, and his sneeze was like a little kids. Yusuke had been given the difficult task of getting him better, and it wasn't easy since he would snap at the smallest things. Hiei wouldn't even let him touch his hair, something that Yusuke was greatly disappointed in.

"Feeling any better, Hiei?" Yusuke asked politely as he sat in a chair next to Hiei's side of the bed. Yusuke smiled when Hiei gave him a what-the-hell-does-it-look-like glare, his once fierce crimson eyes looking so adorable now. Yusuke knew that part of the reason that Hiei was pissed was because he hated being taken care of, even if his caretaker was Yusuke. He just hated being in debt, and feeling inferior.

"I'm still cold." Hiei growled as he pulled the blankets closer, trying not to snap at his lover, but he was failing miserably. As another set of sneezes overtook him he cursed loudly, mumbling about how he never should have agreed to sit in the rain. Yusuke looked hurt by the words. "You didn't like setting with me in the rain? I feel hurt, but at least I didn't get sick!" Yusuke laughed.

"Shut up." Hiei barked at Yusuke.

"Whatever, you still cold?" Yusuke watched as Hiei nodded slightly and decided he should get the fire demon more blankets. Or maybe...

Yusuke grinned as he got up silently and headed over to his side of the bed. He laid down and pulled the covers over him and Hiei, wrapping his arms around his mate and snuggling close to him.

"What are you doing?" Hiei growled as he was suddenly pushed against Yusuke's rather warm body.

"Keeping you warm; plus I'm kinda tired. Taking care of you is a pain in the ass." Yusuke yawned as he buried his face in Hiei's hair, smelling the familiar sent on his lover. As Yusuke began to fall asleep he felt Hiei snuggle up against him, smiling as he too wrapped his arms around Yusuke's torso. Yusuke felt himself drift off to sleep, hearing Hiei whisper a set of loving words.

"I love you Yusuke." (W00t! The words of LOVE!!!!)

:-: 15, there's never a wish better than this

When you only got 100 years to live :-:

Yusuke smiled as he hugged Keiko for the hundredth time today, this time being a goodbye hug. Keiko had moved to Europe to take up a cooking career about 20 years ago, and this had been the first time that they had seen each other since. She came as an early birthday present; Yusuke would be turning 55 in a week.

"It was great seeing you again, Yusuke. I feel a bit embarrassed though, you still look so young and here I am, with a full set of gray hair and glasses!" Keiko laughed lightly as she wiped away the tears that were forming in the corner of her eyes. She had expected to be Yusuke just like her, growing old and gaining the white glint of wisdom in his eyes. How shocking it was to knock on his door and be greeted by a 55-year-old who looked 33, her first thought was that Yusuke just had a son that had a very strong resemblance.

Yusuke smiled awkwardly as he bid Keiko farewell. Yusuke was once again forcedly brought back to reality on how old he really was. It pained Yusuke to see Kuwabara anymore, feeling bad that Kurama had stopped his body from aging while the ones that he loved (that were human) were forced to come to reality on how old they looked. Yusuke didn't think he would be able to take it much longer...

"Bye Keiko, I hope to see you soon!" Yusuke shouted at Keiko's retreating back, waving even thought she couldn't see. `I hope you won't take another 20 years to return...'

:-: Half time goes by

Suddenly you're wise :-:

Yusuke clapped Kuwabara on the back proudly; he had finally become a grandfather. Shoji and his beautiful wife had just give birth to an adorable girl, and were planning on naming her Rin. Tala was currently two months pregnant, having just told them before the birth of Shoji's daughter. Yusuke looked around the room at all the smiling faces, talking about ether their own kids or grandchildren.

Yusuke frowned a bit, not having that little spot of pride in his heart. At least he wasn't the only on, Kurama had failed to find a wife or have any children, but Kurama had a far better reason then Yusuke. Kurama just did not want to watch them grow old and have to suffer without them, while Yusuke and Hiei...well... they just couldn't have any; and Yusuke sadly was not the `adopting' type. Hiei and him were the proud godfathers of Shoji and Tala, and he supposed that was better then nothing.

Hiei, sensing turmoil boiling in his lover's chest, slowly made his way across the room and stood next to him. All he had to do was see what Yusuke was staring at (Rin) and guess what was on his mind. He sighed as he took hold of Yusuke's hand, grasping it firmly. Yusuke always seemed like the type of guy who would make a great father, and Yusuke would always talk about what their child would look like; often it being just like Hiei. Yusuke would never be a father, and Hiei knew it was partially his fault.

"Sometimes life just isn't fair." Yusuke stated quietly, his head bowed as he hid his eyes with his hair.

"That is why we must take what we are given and use then to the best of our abilities, to make up for the things that we weren't meant to have." Hiei whispered back, leaning against Yusuke's frame as he stared at Shoji holding his new child. `Life was never meant to be fair...'

:-: Another blink of an eye

67 is gone :-:

Yusuke sat at the kitchen table, his head buried in his arms. He had been like this for hours, quietly crying to himself. Kuwabara's death was so unsuspected that it broke Yusuke's heart into a million pieces. He had been hit by a speeding semi as he was walking to the store to get some more eggs for Yukina to bake a cake; it was believed that the driver was drunk. He was supposed to stay with him... they were supposed to go together; ether in a fierce battle or of old age, but never by a drunk driver.

Hiei was leaning against the fridge, his head bowed in deep thought. He couldn't stand to see Yusuke like this, it tore at his heart. Yet he couldn't bring himself to comfort Yusuke, he knew that Yusuke needed some time for himself.

`Is this how it's going to be when I die? Will everyone be forced to suffer just like we are now...' Yusuke thought as he lifted his head to stare at Hiei, who had been silent for sometime now. He felt more tears stream down his face at the thought of leaving Hiei, leaving him to live the rest of his life in grief. `Hiei...'

Hiei looked up to see Yusuke staring at him, tears streaming from his eyes non-stop. Hiei realized that this was the time that Yusuke needed to be comforted. He pushed himself off the fridge and went around Yusuke wrapping his arms around him and resting his head on Yusuke's. He muttered soft caring words to sooth Yusuke's heart, knowing that Yusuke needed to be strong to attend the funeral tomorrow.

"I love you, Hiei. I'm sorry..." Yusuke choked as he wiped away some of his tears. `I'm sorry you will have to go through this pain, and it's all my fault...'

:-:The sun is getting high

We're moving on... :-:

"Who is this?" Kurama asked politely as he held up a small picture from the pile that he had managed to find. The woman in the picture was young, and wore the blue school uniform that her school required her to wear. Her brown hair was shoulder length, having kept it short after she was forced to cut it after a fire. She smiles politely to the camera and waves a bit.

"Keiko." Yusuke answered matter-o-factly. So far he had answered them all right, and he was beginning to think that the previous mistake had just been a fluke. He watched as Kurama nodded and placed the picture in the pile that he had already guessed. He then grabbed another one and held it up for Yusuke to see. Yusuke's head was resting in his hands, and he couldn't help but smile when he saw the next picture.

"This one?"

"That's you, Kurama. Honestly, I don't see why you needed to put THAT one in there." Yusuke chuckled as he scratched the back of his neck with his free hand.

"I added it just in case." Kurama stated as he placed it in the growing pile and took out the next one for Yusuke to examine. He glanced at it for a moment before he turned it over for Yusuke to see. "And how about this one, Yusuke?"

Yusuke once again focused on the picture in Kurama's hand. It showed a beautiful young girl with long midnight hair. She was wearing a sundress complete with a sun hat and a little basket. Her silver eyes shined brilliantly in the sun as she smiled warmly at the camera, showing off a peace sign. Yusuke continued to stare at it dully, waiting for her name to pop up in his head and have Kurama move on to the next person. Yusuke frowned when her name didn't come to mind; perhaps Kurama had placed it in as a trick picture.

"I don't know her." Yusuke replied bordly as he waited for Kurama to congratulate him for knowing that he indeed never saw this person, she was just a distant relative of Kurama or something.

Kurama's eyes hazed over as he held the picture closer to Yusuke; perhaps there was a glare from the light. "Yusuke... you do know this girl."

Yusuke glanced at the picture again, still getting nothing. She looked somewhat familiar. `Why can't I remember her name...' Yusuke thought desperately.

Yusuke snatched the picture out of Kurama's hands and stood up to look more closely. Still nothing. He began to pace around the room, raking his brain for any sign of acknowledgment for this young girl. He began to panic as he came to the final conclusion that he in fact, could not remember her. No, that was impossible...

"Kurama, are you sure I know this girl?" Yusuke asked quietly as he walked back over to him and pushed the picture in front of his face. "Are you positive that I know this girl!?"

Kurama nodded silently as he bowed his head, watching from the corner of this eye as Yusuke plopped back down in his seat, staring at the picture longingly. Finally Kurama heard Yusuke's words of defeat. "Who is she...?"

Kurama sighed as he rubbed his hands together, how he hated to be the bearer of bad news... "Her name is Rin; do you remember her a little now?" Kurama questioned hopefully.

Yusuke sat quietly as he turned the name over and over again in his head. No, it still didn't sound familiar. This... this couldn't be happening to him. Was she really that important?

Kurama inwardly cringed as Yusuke shook his head, wiping his eyes as he choked out his final answer. "No..."

Kurama reached across and placed his hand firmly on Yusuke's shoulder, telling him that everything would be all right. They stayed like that for a moment before Kurama finished his explanation. "She's Kuwabara's granddaughter, remember? She's Shoji's little girl..."

Yusuke's eyes widened and he quickly got up, stumbling backwards as he tripped over the chair. He covered his face with his hands and leaned against the wall, taking in sharp breaths. Kuwabara's granddaughter...Shoji's daughter... how could he have forgotten?

Suddenly the memories of her birth flooded into Yusuke's mind, causing him to become dizzy and slide down to the floor. `How could I have forgotten...' Yusuke thought.

Yusuke raised his fist and brang it sharply against the wall, causing a small dent to form. He choked on the tears streaming down his face as he rest his forehead against the wall. "Kuwabara I'm sorry...I'm so...so STUPID!!" He shouted.

Kurama glanced over to the door, where Hiei stood, leaning against the frame. Yusuke had failed to notice him, and Kurama felt that it was best. Kurama stared at Hiei, who had his arms crossed tightly across his chest, his white bangs almost covering his crimson eyes. His eyes were clouded in deep sadness, able to feel Yusuke's deep despair and confusion.

Kurama silently got up and walked across the room to where Hiei stood, Yusuke being to deep in his own thoughts to notice. He stood by Hiei's side, Hiei looking in the room and Kurama looking out. Kurama stood in his spot, unable to bring himself to tell Hiei of Yusuke's conditions.

"As you saw, Yusuke got most of them right without any trouble. He did really well and you should"

"Cut the crap, fox. Tell me what he has, not what I want to hear." Hiei growled as he sent a deadly glare over to the fox demon.

"... Yusuke has developed Alzheimer's disease Hiei..."

:-: I'm 99 for a moment

Dying for just another moment :-:

Yusuke kneeled down to wipe off some dust from Kuwabara's grave. He silently placed the flowers that he had brought down neatly in front of the marble stone and bowed his head in a small prayer. Yusuke's face still looked young and full of life, he had all of his hair and there wasn't a single gray hair to be found. He still dressed in just a white T-shirt and jeans, his lean body still fully in tact. He was 99 years old; at least that's what Hiei had told him as they walked to the cemetery. Yusuke didn't believe it, but Hiei was the only one he believed anymore.

"Hey Kuwabara, I've come to visit you. Hiei told me that you died 32 years ago today, that's a long time, huh..." Yusuke smiled as he sat beside the grave, looking around at all the other graves that occupied the small cemetery. He felt a little acquired talking to a grave, and he really didn't know what to say. He decided to go on what Hiei had told him about this Kuwabara.

"Hiei told me you and I were the best of buds, do you remember that? We fought with Kurama and Hiei to save the humans from demons, he said you were the weakest. That didn't seem very nice... I'm sure you were a good fighter Kuwabara. Hey, what's it like in heaven? Hiei told me it was a place where your dreams could always come true. Is that really what it's like? I hope I can go to heaven..."

"Yusuke, are you ready to go?" Hiei asked as he made his way up the hill to where Yusuke sat. He watched as Yusuke turned around quickly, obviously surprised at Hiei sneaking up behind him. Yusuke blinked a few times before he grinned and bounced up, wiping the dust off his pants. "Yeah, I'm ready to go."

Hiei nodded and held his hand out for Yusuke to take, which Yusuke took eagerly as they began to slowly make their way down the hill. Hiei was the only person that Yusuke could remember, but his mind was a little foggy when it came to what they did past 10 years ago. To Yusuke it didn't matter, he was just happy to be by Hiei's side.

:-: And I'm just dreaming

Counting the ways to where you are :-:

Hiei stood beside an old grave among the many headstones in the cemetery. It was the early fall and the wind was whipping around wildly, spreading the red, orange and yellow leaves all around. He read the name on the headstone over and over again until he felt that he couldn't torture himself any longer.

Yusuke Urameshi

1989 - 2089

A true child at heart

Kurama would be visiting Yusuke's grave soon as well, as soon as he got done stealing a necklace that he had been eyeing for some time.

Hiei reached up and touched the small scare on his neck, rubbing it slightly as he thought of Yusuke. Yusuke had died over 50 years ago, but Hiei was far from forgetting him. The only way Yusuke would slip out of his mind was if he too developed Alzheimer's.

:-: 15 there's still time for you

22 I feel him too :-:

Yusuke and Hiei ate silently at the kitchen table, eating the Chinese food that Yusuke had ordered. Hiei wasn't very found of the food, but Yusuke had refused to make dinner that night, and Hiei wasn't up to cooking. As he shoved another piece of fish in his mouth he felt something lightly hit his forehead. When he looked up he saw Yusuke looking around innocently, tapping his fork on the table and whistling a small tone. When Yusuke finally noticed Hiei staring at him he blinked a few times and asked innocently "What?"

Hiei, having had enough fish for one day, throw his little take out box at Yusuke's face, snickering as it hit right on target. When the box finally slid down Yusuke's face he was covered in small bits of fish and rice. Yusuke's right eye began to twitch until he finally burst out laughing. Hiei couldn't help but smile.

:-: 33 you're on your way

Every day's a new day... :-:

Hiei lightly sank his fangs into Yusuke's neck, slowly drawing blood from the small wound. He heard Yusuke moan (XD!!!!!!!) in pain and clench the bed sheets tightly. (No, they haven't done anything...yet... . ) Hiei transferred some of his own blood into Yusuke's veins, still trying to saver the taste of Yusuke's sweet blood. When he was done he drew back his fangs and licked away the blood that was running down Yusuke's neck.

"Damn, that hurt!" Yusuke whispered as he went to feel his neck only to draw his hand back quickly; his neck was still really sore. Yusuke was about to snap at Hiei until his lips were met by those of his new mates. Yusuke hugged Hiei tightly and decided to just let it go.

:-: 15 there's still time for you

Time to buy and time to choose :-:

"THREE WEEKS!?!? That's a damn long time Hiei!" Yusuke shouted as he watched his lover pack the little things that he took to Mukuro's palace. He had nothing against the women, but she always forced Hiei to leave for weeks, and Yusuke just couldn't stand it.

Hiei sighed as he finished packing, ready to head off to the demon world for a little while. Yusuke as always complained as much as Hiei would allow, never liking when Hiei would leave. Hiei never liked it ether, but he was in Mukuro's debt...

"I'll be back as soon as I can, Yusuke" Hiei repeated as he made his way to the door. He was stopped short by Yusuke grabbing him and giving him a tight hug, ruffling the hair he adored so much. "Yeah, you better keep your word." Yusuke kissed Hiei's forehead before he released the fire demon, letting him go on his way.

:-: Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this

When you only got 100 years to live :-:

"Sometimes life just isn't fair." Yusuke stated quietly, his head bowed as he hid his eyes with his hair.

"That is why we must take what we are given and use then to the best of our abilities, to make up for the things that we weren't meant to have." Hiei whispered back, leaning against Yusuke's frame as he stared at Shoji holding his new child.

"Life was never meant to be fair..." Hiei whispered as he turned his back on the small grave, knowing that this was not the last time he would visit him. He still had many centuries to go before he could join Yusuke up in heaven, but knowing what heaven had to offer, Hiei knew that he could wait.

The End
