Uploaded On: Oct 21 1:43:52 2005
Charcters: Heero
Description: This is a picture of Heero to go with my fic, 'Caged Doves'. He is supposed to be 21 here. His hair is 'calico'd' on purpose-two years in the wilderness and sun will do that to you. ^_~ Originally drawn in Pencil then scanned and colored in Adobe. Enjoy! R read more

Another nice cell shaded piece. Light source is everything in this type of approach and you're nailing it!! I like how you did his hair too, really cool effect with the blond highlights. Your proportions are still a bit off, with the shoulders being a bit too broad, and the hands a wee bit small. Also, the outline lines are a little thin for my tastes. I suggest thickening them up a bit. Thanks for submitting again!! ~Dx

your work shows personality. I like the style of the face, it seems to be more in the cartoon style then an anime. It works nice. I believe others have mentioned working on your proportions. One of the basics that I learned from reviews is that the hands should be as long as the head, you do fine with the arms. Also the tilt of the head would change the angle of the shoulders. On your coloring your cell shading is nice, you have a definate light source (something I still struggle with) the belt is great. Nice work.~Fanilia

Howdy, nice crisp image. I am going to comment on the shoulders, I used to do the same thing in drawing the armpit line almost straight then sort of attaching the arms, i.e. the shoulder curve being not in line with the clothes crease up to the armpit, this makes the figure look unnecessarily bulky and flat, the arms should meld seamlessly with the body, best thing to do is get some photos of people and concentrate on how their clothes fold around their shoulders, or in bathers etc, bare arms are even better. Or some examples from your favourite anime would do the trick, and barring all that a mirror, it's a tough one to get your head around but once you actually sketch it a few times form examples and figure out how it goes together all your future anatomy poses will thank you for it… nice work. Biz... :)

The general picture looks great, the colors for the picture are really good for the most part. Also the job that you did with the hair was really neat too. the one thing I don't like is you don't use shading to show shadows

First off you did a good job with all the even coloring and cell shading. What you need to work on the most is proportions. You did some slight foreshortening on the arm even though your not looking at it in perspective. You have the basics of the figure down really well but proportions can become a problem for alot of artist that stop the artwork from having that completed look that the artist craves. Also if you just scanned it from a pencil sketch next time your a thin black marker and give your lines more 'weight'. Unless this is your style of doing art, when you give lines more weight it give it a more finished professional look and gives the artwork more personality. Overall it's a different look and Heero and interesting nonetheless. I like it and I do hope to see more of your artwork submitted to F.A.R.G. ^_~ Songie
