Avatar The Last Airbender Fan Fiction ❯ In the Beginning ❯ One-Shot

[ A - All Readers ]

In the beginning of time, there were the Elements.
Air, of breath.
Water, of substance.
Earth, of shelter.
Fire, of knowledge.
All of life.
In the beginning of time, there were the Spirits.
These were the children of the Elements.
The Moon, of Water.
The Sun, of Fire.
The World, of Earth.
The Wind, of Air.
And so many more.
The Moon and the Sun married, and so the Universe was created.
The Earth and the Wind married, and so the planets were created.
The Elements stared at the world they had chosen.
It is dead
They said.
Earth stretched itself over the planets and soil was created.
Air covered the planets in a shelter of clouds.
Water created oceans to live in and streams to connect.
Fire hid from the world, beneath the earth and in the sky.
And from the place where the Elements met, Man was born.
Man inherited the Elements and the Spirits and called them gods.
The Elements, seeing this, climbed down from their homes and taught Man.
Wind found those without homes and taught them to fly.
Water found those among the ice and taught them to swim.
Earth found those among the mountains and taught them to move them.
Fire did not show itself, but those of the crescent watched it and learned where it was hiding.
The Elements realized Man needed their teachings, their knowledge.
So the Avatar was born.
And the world lived in harmony.
But Fire became jealous. His people were being pushed aside. He would show himself, he decided. And the world would know his power.
The first war had begun, and Man had not even noticed.
It was the first war, and it would not be the last.
