Ch5

When Kai woke up a few hours later, he felt an arm around his waist.

What? Kai wondered as he shifted around, Rei?

Rei was asleep and Kai could have sworn that he wasn't breathing.

Good thing I keep my room dark, Kai mused, or he would be ash.

Kai tried to get up, but he couldn't. Rei's arm around him prevented Kai from doing so.

Damn.

Kai tried once more to get up, but soon gave up the efforts.

“So,” Max said to Tyson, “How long have you known Kai?”

“Four years.”

Max and Tyson were sitting in the basement talking. They found out that they had a lot in common.

So they talked about parties that they had gone too and people that they had met.

They were becoming good friends.

“Kai wake up.”

Kai, who had not realized that he went back to sleep, opened his eyes and saw Rei looming over him.

“Glad to see that you're awake,” Rei said dryly, “It's not even night yet.”

“It's not?”

“No.”

“Then what time is it?” Kai asked in confusion.

“About 2pm.”

Kai tried to get up, but Rei held him down.

“Kai.”

“What?”

“When I was telling you about the coven's plan, I didn't tell you everything that I knew.'

“What didn't you tell me?”

“Well,” Rei said, “I don't know what it is, but it is going to take place in three weeks, at the next full moon.”

Kai groaned.

“This is just great!”

“I'm sorry,” Rei whispered, “it just slipped my mind.”

Kai realized that Rei wasn't going to let him get up. But the thing that scared Kai was that he didn't mind.

“And there's something else,” Rei began.

“Yes?”

“It is not about the coven,” Rei continued, ashamed, “It is about vampires in general.”

`Go on.”

“Well, you know how it harms a human to go without food?”

Kai nodded, not liking where this was going.

“Well, with a vampire it is the same way. We can go a night or two without food, but then, we have to feed.”

“And you're trying to ask if I would donate some blood,” Kai commented dryly.

Rei nodded.

`You don't have too, but if you do, I'll only take a pint. I won't kill you.”

“Do you need to feed now?”

Once again, Rei nodded.

“I'll let you feed off of me,” Kai said quietly.

“Thank you,” Rei said moving towards Kai's neck.

“Just don't kill me.”

Rei nodded gently grabbed Kai's face and tilted it to the side, exposing Kai's neck.

Rei gently grazed his teeth over the flesh and then sunk his fangs into a vein.

Kai tried to struggle, but soon gave in to the feeling of blood being pulled from his veins.

`Kai?”

Kai's vision was fading.

“Are you okay Kai?”

Kai heard Rei's voice but couldn't see him.

Kai then slumped forward, giving into the darkness.

`Hey Kenny,” Tyson said quietly, “What's up?”

“Oh.”

“Where's Max?”

“Sleeping.”

When Kai awoke, he found himself lying on a broad chest.

“Kai?”

Weakly, Kai pushed himself up and saw that he had been on Rei.

`Yeah?”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah.”

“I though I killed you,” Rei said quietly.

Kai shook his head and laughed, a sound that surprised him.

“I don't dies easy.”

Rei nodded and pulled Kai into a fierce hug. Needless to say, Kai was confused once more.

What was going on?
