Hope For an End

Part one - A brief history

Look Draco-chan! *waves hand in his face* I'm not dead!!! THE QUEEN
HAS RETURNED MUAHAHAHAHAHA *hack, gag, cough* Ahem. Anyways, I *Lys's pen dies*
… oh fu- *the new pen dies. Lys throws a quiet fit so her mom won't hear her
(as it is 2 am and she's writing in bed), creeps out of her room, and returns
five minutes later chewing gum and holding one of those cool pens with the
rubber finger grips* SUCCESS! Anyways,
I have been accused of being dead, and school's almost over, so I decided it
was time for a comeback! <insert dramatic pose here> Innocence was my
only kinda long-ish fic, but I hope this will be MUCH better!

I SWEAR I will constantly work on this fic, if I don't I give you
permission to bombard me with threatening emails, throw oranges, beat me with a
stick, etc, etc.

I have read medieval fics, gladiator era fics, and we all know
there are a million in current times, but what about the future?

I have created my own future for earth, from our time to when the
story begins. I hope it will turn out well, and any comments or criticism will
be worshiped.

This is going out to CyberDracomon, Lace123, and Kale. You guys are
amazing authors, and great friends, I wouldn't be able to do it without you!

So enter earth as it
stands in 2352, where nations are at war, the citizens suffer, and hope for an
end can be hard to find…

~{*}~

The year is 2352; the planet is earth, population
roughly seven billion. Three hundred years ago there was fear of over population,
but in the end it was proved that nature knows all. A savage disease ripped
across the countries and through continents, millions upon millions died.
Flu-like symptoms appeared from nowhere, and the tissue became weak, small
amounts of pressure could make painful bruises and swellings appear. High
fevers dried out the body faster than any amount of water could cool it, and
the hacking cough it was accompanied by left lungs no mercy.

Now
again it seems a reoccurrence is brewing, throwing even the calmest into
hostile alarm. War ravages cities and entire nations; the citizens are hard
done by to make a living. The government can be merciless, but it's better than
being in the hands of the enemy. Most people thought that, anyway. Disputes
usually start over land, more land that can grow crops and give life, but they
end up much deeper. No one seems to care more is being destroyed than gained.
It's come to the point that only children and see these human frailties,
through eyes filled with innocence that fades all too fast…

There
are the few that oppose this, but their solutions are even worse. They believe
nature should be left to run its course, they go against everyone, and dare to
hope for another plague, and have been heard to say "If nature can't do it,
then maybe we will…" No one there seems to think there is anything worse than
war.

So
enter Earth, the year is 2352, and the beginning of an end is approaching as
our story starts in a quiet Tokyo suburb…
