They Think I Don't Know

They think I don't know.
I am really quite on top of things,
But it doesn't always show.

My students try to hide things from me,
Like Terriermon, Calumon, and Guilmon.
They don't know I know all three.

Takato hides Guilmon in the park.
I've seen him going there
Even when it is very dark.

Guilmon seems a gentle soul.
I've seen him with Takato and friends.
Taking what fate has to dole.

Henry pretends Terriermon is a toy.
Terriermon rides Henry's head
They're seldom apart, Digimon and boy.

But a toy Terriermon definitely is not.
I've seen him fight other Digimon.
How many he's beaten I've forgot.

Calumon is the lonely one.
He doesn't have a trainer or fight.
All he wants is to have some fun.

I've often seen Henry, Takato and the Digimon together
With Kazu, Kenta, Jeri, and a girl I don't know
Flock around like birds of a feather.

On a camping trip the other day
My students don't know I know
They brought their Digimon with them to play.

Other teachers may turn a blind eye
To antics such as my students.
The kids are lucky to have one such as I.

Though I do not let it show,
I know everything that goes on.
But they think I don't know.

- Ms. Ayashi

Author's notes: My first Tamers piece _and_ my first poem all at one shot! I had the idea of doing something from Ms. Ayashi's POV (and I'm sorry, but I think whoever writes Ms. Ayashi had to have read my "A Teacher's POV" series - the similarities are way too many between Ms. Ayashi and my teacher). I feel that Ms. Ayashi knows more than she lets on. Now, why did I do this one as a poem? Something about the line "They think I don't know" just said "poem" to me. I wrote this while my 2nd graders were going berserk (they couldn't keep quiet at all today) and my 3rd/4th grade mixed age class was quietly writing.

I know I've been quiet on the writing front, but with a new principal at my school, things are a bit off kilter. This year the kids are wilder and I'm coming home more exhausted.

Be assured that I _am_ writing. Currently I have a story in the works called "Once Upon a Time" that is a long format original Digimon fairy tale, 32 pages long with the end nowhere in sight. I recently posted "Digiquest for Glory: Trial by Fire," and I'm slowly working on "The Doctor and the Debutante." Most of the other stories are sort of backburnered right now. I'll get to them.
