Davis: Their differences are thus settled, and SSJ moves on.

Van: Now, prepare for the greatest chapter, ever!

---- Chapter 90: Closing the Gate - Part Eight : On the Threshold of Hell ----

The invisible winds of Terra's hollow core cried as two lights descended towards the
center. The single ship holding the Hokuten and the others slowly maneuvered its way
towards the bottom, slowly making its way past bridges and pillars that became more
clustered as it descended.

Risika stood by the window, looking at the pillars outside, made of the dark metal,
celesium. Everyone who had seen it was surprised by the spectacle. The rarest metal in the
planet shone all over, carrying the weight of the world. And in this forest of metal, a
great war was taking place.

Risika solemnly stared outside the window, waiting for the bottom. Suddenly, she noticed a
single light. She pressed her face to the glass and intently peered through the night at
it. A single white light from a flare. "Hey, Lee!" she called. Lee looked up from his seat
and stepped towards her. "Do you see that flare?" asked Risika.

Risika stepped away from the window, letting Lee peer through the dark. He saw a figure
leaning on a pillar. His eyes opened to see Anya, blood all over the area. "It's Anya!" he
yelled. Orion and Paul were taken by surprise, looking up at their fellow Clan members.

Everything suddenly stopped. The pilot looked back at the two. Risika suddenly cried, "We
have to get over there!" Orion and Paul, too, dashed to the window and looked at the flare,
seeing Anya's bloody body.

Orion turned to the pilot, "Go over there, now!" The pillar nodded and obliged. The ship
suddenly shook.

Voldemort and company looked up from their seats. "Damn it," said Voldemort. "At this rate,
we won't get any glory." The others complained as well.

Roy Mustang, Edward Elric, and Hayden were feeling uneasy. Below them, the sounds of metal
swords clashing, blood flying, and explosions tearing through the space echoed toward them.
It was like an all-out war, save for there being only ten people fighting for Terra.
Everything seemed to be going out of control, with the screams of Mauzel becoming all the
louder. The world seemed to be falling to Hell.

But with few words, the ship moved and speeded towards Anya, hoping that she would be alive
to see the next day.

***

During the first shuriken flying at SSJ and Momo and the last words of Genbu, the newest
Outlaw skidded down the pillars, skidding from bridge to bridge under it. His boots slid
down the smoothly made pillars, making Van wonder if they were natural.

It was strange, something of that level of craftsmanship as was displayed in the pillars
could not have occurred naturally. Someone had to have had a hand in it, probably Rantmon
or Mauzel. When he got to thinking about it, he wondered what Mauzel looked like. All SSJ
and TM could do to describe her was say that she was beautiful.

He sighed, thinking he would have to fight someone like that.

Something caught his eye in the distance. He looked down into the darkness, seeing a figure
racing up towards him, cloaked in black. Van could barely distinguish the figure from the
dark metals surrounding him. The figure noticed Van as well, stopping to stand upon a
bridge.

Van directed his slide towards a bridge, landing upon it and standing up tall. He peered at
the figure at the bridge below him, across a wide gap. The figure lifted up his hands,
revealing spiked tekkou covering the hands. Van's eyes narrowed. He muttered to himself,
"Gouki, huh?"

Gouki looked up at Van, the red glow of his eyes clear in the dark. With all of his power,
he leapt up from his bridge and landed upon Van's, far on the opposite end. Gouki looked at
Van, apathy in his glance. He noticed that Van was a young kid. He sighed, "Damn it. Kino
Tsumuji or Kensou Mishima would have been a better fight. Instead, I got this new kid..."

Van's eyes narrowed to almost slits. "I should be saying the same to you shit," swore Van.
"Ever since I fought Davis, I've had nothing but weaklings." Gouki's eyes narrowed upon
hearing Van's words. Van continued none the kinder, "Really, of the six Nishiten members I
could have had, I was left with the weakest and most pathetic."

Gouki suddenly burst in anger, dashing at Van. Gouki raised up his arms, screaming,
"'Weak?!' I'll show you weak when I rip you to shreds with my bare hands!"

Van sighed. Gouki quickly closed the distance between the two. He pulled back his fists and
slammed them into the pillar, sending cracks throughout the metal. Gouki was taken aback,
for Van had disappeared. Van landed on the celesium bridge behind Gouki, not even looking
up at the man. "Geez," said Van. "I figured as much." Gouki turned and glared back at Van.
"You're so weak, I can't even have fun."

Gouki roared in anger, "YOU INSULT ME!" With the speed unseen by the other members of the
Nishiten, Gouki raised his leg to kick Van. Gouki was suddenly taken aback to see his
kicked stopped. Van had caught the kick easily between his two sheathed kodachi.

"Of course I insult you," Van muttered. "Why would I take someone like YOU seriously?"
Gouki saw Van draw his kodachi, and he was taken by complete surprise to see that it was
Suzaku's old set, right down to the Phoenix engraving on the hand-guards.

Gouki suddenly recognized Van. "YOU!" screamed Gouki, leaping away from Van. Van blinked at
Gouki. Gouki raised up his fists in anger. "IT WAS YOU THAT DEFEATED US!"

"Huh?" was all Van said in reply.

Gouki just stared blankly at Van, wondering how he could forget single-handedly killing the
world's most fearsome clan. Suddenly, a memory stirred in Van's mind. He suddenly
remembered the people he killed in Meria were the Nishiten. Van just sighed and glared at
Gouki, "You people just won't die, huh?"

"SILENCE!" screamed Gouki. Van did so, letting Gouki speak with a wave. Gouki roared
through clenched teeth, "It's you! You killed us and defied Suzaku's order! We absolutely
can not allow that!"

Van started picking his ear with his pinky. "No, you could," said Van. "Apparently, I
allowed myself to defy Suzaku," he added, raising the twin kodachi. Gouki's face twisted in
anger. "I took this from your crippled master. Do you want to feel your master's blade?"

Gouki gave Van the most hateful glare he had ever given anyone. "SHUT UP!" he demanded. "I
CAN NOT ALLOW ANOTHER INSULT!" Gouki pulled his fist back and dashed at Van. Van was quick,
though, and Gouki just barely saw his cloak being torn to tatters. Slashes riddled his
skin, all from Van's kodachi.

Van landed before Gouki, kodachi gripped tightly in his hand. "You can and will," Van
coldly stated. "You are nothing but a shit stain on my shoe." Van then turned back to look
at Gouki. He suddenly opened his eyes widely. He saw the ooze covering Gouki's stomach.

"That was the place that you struck me," said Gouki with a smile. "It is now where Virus
resides in me."

"'Resides in you?'" Van repeated quizzically.

"I don't need to tell you," Gouki said with a cold glance. "But since you are scared, for
once, I'll talk.

"After we were defeated, we were found by Terran Officials. Our bodies were taken to
Solarice and came under the care of Daedalus. He upgraded our bodies, putting in machines
where our body failed, and with a little bit of Virus, we lived again!"

Gouki smiled at Van. "Do you finally see now, kid? You can't win-" Van's fist suddenly got
Gouki right to the nose. Gouki stood in place. Van was taken aback as he felt his arm in
terrible pain. Gouki smiled, not even flinching from the blow. "See? You can't win."

In an instant, the spiked tekkou on Gouki's hand slammed into Van's stomach. The blades cut
into his gut, while the force of the blow rippled through Van's body. Blood suddenly rushed
out of his mouth.

Van flew back in pain, coughing out blood all over the bridge. Van dropped his kodachi onto
the bridge as he covered his mouth. Blood spilled all over his hands, dripping onto the
metal. Van was surprised at the force of the blow.

There was a footstep as Gouki approached him. Van looked up, a trail of blood flowing from
his mouth. Gouki looked down upon Van and said simply, "You underestimated me, kid. As I
am, you can not harm me. Especially since I have these indestructible tekkou."

Van glared at Gouki. He shook his hands to dry them, and he reached for the kodachi. He
grabbed them and stood up, blood rushing from his stomach. Van saw the ooze on Gouki's
stomach reach all over the man's body, turning his skin black and raising the veins. Van
saw with surprise as Gouki's body blended with the darkness, the two red eyes shining
menacingly.

Gouki suddenly disappeared. Van's eyes shot open, searching for where Gouki had moved. A
footstep sounded behind him Van turned to slash the air behind him, surprised that Gouki
wasn't there. Suddenly, Gouki's knee struck his wounded gut. More blood came from his mouth.

Gouki knocked Van back on his feet, and with a powerful headbutt, sent him flying back into
the pillar, coughing in pain. Gouki smiled as he laid blow after blow of Van's body,
cutting the skin all over, making his bones break, and causing him to cough more blood.

Van lay prone upon the bridge, blood covering the area. He glared up at Gouki, feeling pain
in every part of his body. His grip upon the kodachi weakened, but he still clenched the
kodachi with all the strength he had. Gouki put a foot upon Van's hand, putting pressure on
it. Van felt intense pain in the already broken hand.

"And you called me weak?!" spat Gouki, mocking Van's vain attempts to move. Gouki laughed,
"You are weaker than any other opponent I have ever faced! Figures, I'd get the trash of
the Outlaws." Van's eyes narrowed even further. "You can't even hold a candle to me!" Van
gritted his teeth together. "Yes, you are worthless. You were trash, are trash, and will
always be trash!"

Van's screams suddenly tore through the silence. Gouki was taken completely by surprise
when Van impaled his ankle with his kodachi. Gouki was taken aback, and the pressure on
Van's hand released. With all the strength he had, Van shoved Gouki off his hand and got to
his feet, bleeding from wounds that covered his body.

Gouki was surprised when he began to slip upon the blood. Van said coldly, "Idiot. One must
consider his surroundings when he fights!" Van crouched and turned to trip Gouki. Gouki was
fast, though, and jumped into the air to avoid his leg.

Gouki smiled when he saw Van's back. "YOU'RE OPEN!" shouted Gouki as he aimed a punch at
Van's back.

But Van was faster, lifting his other leg and hitting Gouki hard with the back of his foot.
Gouki was launched into the air in surprise. Van twisted and turned to face Gouki. Gouki
saw Van's lightning fast movements as Van swung his kodachi at the android. Gouki was
quick, however, to block the blades with his tekkou. With a kick, Van skidded back, glaring
at the android. Gouki laughed as he landed upon the bridge, "Hah! Didn't you listen?! These
tekkou are invincible! Even your kodachi can't scratch it!"

Van panted, feeling pain in every part of his body. His left arm was broken, and his hand
was bleeding all over from Gouki's foot. His knees shook as he struggled to keep standing.
Fatigue ran throughout his body as he glared at Gouki.

'What is he thinking?' Gouki's mind asked. 'He's just been glaring at me... I wonder if
he's planning a strategy?' Gouki's lips curled into a smile. 'Whatever. He can't hurt me,
anyway!' Gouki put his foot down, dashing at full speed towards Van. Gouki laughed as he
neared, fists pulled back.

Van, though, swung his hand at Gouki. Gouki was surprised to see blood fly through the air
and hit him in the eyes. He roared as he suddenly stopped, "DAMN IT! UNDERHANDED BASTARD!"
Two giant cuts suddenly formed from shoulders to hips, and Van's kodachi gleamed in the
light.

Gouki flew back as Van stood proudly before him. "Of course I'm underhanded," said Van.
"I'm not good like my friends. If you're an enemy, I will kill you without a second
thought. I learned this as I served Rantmon!"

Gouki struck the celesium pillar on the opposite side of the bridge. Gouki wiped the blood
from his eyes and glared at Van. Van saw the two tears in Gouki's skin. Underneath was
nothing but wires and metal. He was a complete android. The ooze came from the wounds and
covered them, as it did during Rantmon's battles. "You... Even if you served Rantmon, you
can never destroy my tekkou!" yelled Gouki.

Van smiled. "It seems," said he, "that I have begun the first step."

Gouki suddenly was taken aback when he noticed a scratch upon the metal of the tekkou.
"WHAT?!" he screamed in surprise.

Van held his kodachi tightly. "Nothing in this world is invincible," he said. "Not the
Gods, not Virus, not Rantmon, and especially not your shitty tekkou!" Van suddenly burst
into a dash towards Gouki. Gouki raised his tekkou to block, and he felt the force of the
blow being repelled by his tekkou. Van skidded back, glaring at Gouki and panting with
fatigue.

"Didn't I tell you?!" screamed Gouki. "No one can destroy my tekkou!"

Van stopped panting. He smiled. Gouki was taken aback to see Van loosen his right hands
grip on the kodachi and let something fall on the bridge. There was a distinct clinging
sound. Gouki suddenly noticed what dropped onto the bridge. It was a screw. "THAT'S
IMPOSSIBLE!" roared Gouki, glancing at his right tekkou. Sure enough, there was a large
hole where a screw should have been. The tekkou began to shake, its sturdiness lost.

"Yes," muttered Van. He stood, holding his kodachi tightly. "Even if your tekkou were made
out of celesium, it has to be put together somehow. At the points where the pieces are
joined, if I attack there, the tekkou would fall apart." Gouki looked up at Van, who held
his kodachi aimed at him. "Like so!" yelled Van as he dashed at Gouki.

Gouki gave a shrill warcry as he dashed at Van. He sent a punch at the face of his
opponent, but he saw Van duck and dodge the blow, and with lightning speed, he thrusted the
tip of the kodachi into the gap of the screw and the tekkou's plates. Surprised, Gouki saw
Van twist his kodachi and tear the screw out of its place. Then, with the other kodachi,
Van stabbed through Gouki's right hand, knocking the spiked plate clear off and falling
from the bridge.

Gouki screamed in anger, wires and screws flying from his open hand. The ooze came forth
and covered the wound as Gouki went to kick Van. Van saw the kick too late as it hit his
side. Blood came from his mouth again, his wounds aggravated.

Van rolled back, panting and gripping his side. He felt his broken left arm really
stinging, biting his lip to avoid uttering a sound. He needed to defeat the guy quickly
before his injuries took over the fight.

Van dashed at Gouki again. Gouki shouted, "You're a one-trick horse! All you do is attack!"
Van's blades became blurs as he thrusted the sharp teeth at his opponent. With the single
tekkou on his left hand, he blocked blow after blow from the kodachi. Van struggled to
overtake Gouki, but he realized Gouki's speed suddenly increased. He had been holding back?!

Van couldn't even see the headbutt before he flew back and scraped along the bridge. Van
rolled and landed back on his feet, glaring at Gouki. Gouki smiled, raising his tekkou at
Van. He suddenly noticed the spikes on his tekkou being gone, dulled by Van's kodachi.
Gouki burst, "Damn kid! You and your stupid tricks! This time, you die!" Gouki dashed
forward at Van. "FEEL THIS, MY ONLY NAMED ATTACK! SU WAN SHOU!" ("ONE THOUSANDS HANDS OF
DEATH!")

Van laughed, "Hah! Then feel this attack I just named!" Van dashed at Gouki, raising his
kodachi up. Gouki smiled. A slashing attack could never take out a screw, nor could any
attack harm the tekkou. His victory was assured!

Gouki gave a great cry, aiming his tekkou at Van's chest. Then, with demonic speed, Van's
kodachi slammed into tekkou. "GENERIC DOUBLE SLASH ATTACK!" screamed Van as Gouki's tekkou
broke into pieces. Gouki was taken absolutely by surprise when the blade cut through the
tekkou and through his hand. Gouki screamed in pain and stepped back, holding his left arm
in pain.

Van suddenly realized, even as cut up as Gouki was, he never screamed in pain. He realized
Gouki's weakpoint, the veins on his arm thicker than anywhere else. Van skidded back as he
dodged Gouki's fists. Gouki fumed in anger, screaming, "THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! MY SU WAN SHOU
IS UNAVOIDABLE!"

"Tch!" Van spat back. "Fancy names are worthless in a fight like this. Your only technique
was broken, your tekkou is shattered, and I've found your weakspot." Gouki's eyes widened
in fear. Van just coldly uttered, "The only thing left for me to do is insult you some
more, weakling."

Gouki screamed in anger, ooze covering his left hand. "I WON'T ALLOW IT!" he screamed.
"SUZAKU'S WORD IS DIVINE LAW! HE HAS KILLED YOUR FRIEND BY NOW AND WILL SEE ME KILL YOU! I
AM NOT WEAK!" Van was surprised to see Gouki grab his head as if in terrible pain. It
seemed he stirred a very painful memory.

Van smiled from ear to ear. "Weak! Worthless!" Gouki roared in anger, grabbing his head.
"Utterly pathetic! Being beaten by a kid!" Gouki screamed, recalling the very painful
memories of his past.

***

He recalled it all. He recalled ten years ago, being trained by his master. He recalled how
cruel the master was, always screaming in Chinese, "Weak! Useless! What have I been
training you for?"

It was a usual day of grueling practice and terrible insults. Gouki, then Yingshuo An,
struck his fist against a stone block, his knuckles bleeding from each impact. To his
master, who was able to destroy stone blocks with his feet, it was pathetic. His master
went away declaring, "No food until you strike the block a thousand times."

Yingshuo always balked when such a demand was made. He could only strike the block so many
times before his hand gave out. He often went many days without food, until his master
grudgingly pulled him in to feed him. "You are nothing but stone!" his master always
yelled. "Stone, not gold!"

Yingshuo heard all the insults. "Stone! Trash! Worthless!" Everything came firing at him,
and suddenly, all the anger in his heart welled up.

He screamed as he dashed at his master, utter hatred reflected in his eyes. His master
sighed as Yingshuo pulled back his fist. With a flick, Yingshuo flew back, forehead covered
with blood. "Weak!" yelled his master. "I thought I was training a boy, not some effeminate
trash!" He quickly became unconscious.

Yingshuo woke up at night, where the biting winds combined with the fall of hail. The blood
on his head dried. It was then that four figures walked up to him. He saw that it was the
four Nishiten members, gaining a reputation throughout the land.

They all smiled upon him, and his life changed forever. By the end of the day, his master
was dead, and he threw away his name for Gouki. And in killing his master, he saw the only
technique his master ever showed him: Su Wan Shou.

***

Van saw Gouki screaming, the memories of the horrible torment. Van continued shouting,
"Trash! Worthless! You couldn't touch a baby if it was sleeping!"

Gouki screamed, "SHUT UP! I AM NOT STONE! I AM NOT TRASH!" Gouki's face twisted in anger,
glaring at Van. He was suddenly a blur, sprinting at Van, fists pulled back. "I'LL KILL YOU
TO PROVE MY WORTH! I AM GOLD!"

Van gripped his kodachi. He dashed at Gouki as well. "I don't care what you are, trash!"
Van shouted. "You are my enemy, and I will defeat you!" As Van screamed the last words, his
kodachi tore through Gouki's left arm. Gouki was taken aback as the giant cut tore his arm
apart from hand to shoulder. Whatever was left of the tekkou fell apart as shards. Blood
flew from the wound, and he realized that Van had discovered his weak spot.

Gouki felt weak. Van had cut through his heart, which had been placed in his arm. It was
supposed to have been protected by the invincible tekkou. That guy was too strong...

Gouki stood weakly, struggling to stay alive. He could hardly breathe. He could only utter,
"...Not... Stone..." before he fell to his knees. "I am... Not stone..." He fell prone. Van
stood over him, glaring at him. He sighed, falling back and sitting down. He panted for
air, tired and exhausted. His body stung from all the wounds, but he refused to lie down
and rest.

He looked at the darkness below. He looked upon Gouki's body, seeing the ooze melt from the
cuts on Gouki. Van suddenly had an idea to help him on his way down. He sheathed his
kodachi and picked up Gouki's dead body. He put his feet on it and leapt off the bridge,
skidding down the side of the pillar.

Not caring one bit about the body under his feet, he only wished to get down faster without
ruining his boots or legs any further. He sped through the darkness, hoping to reach the
bottom as fast as possible.
