---- Recap ----

[Chibi characters of SSJ, Kensou, Amiko, TM, Van, and Davis appear in the foreground as
scenes from the last episode play in the background. Though, you can't see 'cause this is
text. Haha!]

SSJ: LAST TIME on GINGA GIRI GIRI!

Amiko: We are confronted with Cindy and Mauzel, and the battle begins!

Kensou: It seems impossible to hurt the friend we came to save, but our pleas prove useless.

TM: It doesn't take long for us to be seriously injured, and Mauzel starts her song.

Davis: All around Terra, Gates open. And Gates open all over Earth, too.

Van: Virus' plan seems to be a success! This can't be! I can't lose like this!

(The rest glare at Van.)

Others: Are you ignoring us or something?!

---- Chapter 94: Countdown to the End - 1 : The Woman and the Beast ----

The world shook under the song that rang through every crevice. Mauzel's voice was audible
from every angle and from every place. It was impossible to escape the call of Mauzel's
pristine voice. Yet, at that moment, the voice was terrifying.

With the Gates open throughout Terra, chaos reigned throughout the cities. Cars lined
highways, jammed for miles, as people tried to escape, as if somehow being in the country
would avoid the chaos. The cities became still as people evacuated into shelters or out of
the cities entirely.

In the silence of Solarice, Kino's secretary, Shannah, stood upon the penthouse of the
capitol building, observing the giant Gate in the black sky. The Gate was large enough then
to entirely block out the sun, and the world was bathed in night. "Kino," she uttered to
herself, seeing the Gates all around the city. "You couldn't have died..."

Everything was silent. From one corner of Terra to another, the world was silent, waiting
for the end. The only thing resounding was Mauzel's song, and everything else remained
silent, listening to the unnerving cry of Mauzel's voice. People prayed for anyone to save
them. People looted in the depths of the darkness, knowing their time was up. People
indulged in whatever desire they had, knowing the end had come.

But the end still hadn't come.

Deep inside Terra, the Core was astir with Mauzel's song. Beside Mauzel was Cindy, looking
upon the pile of rubber before her. "Every-" A pain suddenly shot in her head. She stopped
speaking, and her pupils dilated a tiny bit. Mauzel still didn't notice, but deep within
Cindy's mind, something was stirring...

***

It was dark and cold. There was nothing but darkness all around. Not a single sound could
be heard in any direction. Not a single thing, not even a tiny wind, could be felt. Cindy
looked left and right, wondering where she was or how she got there. Not a soul was in
sight.

Cindy felt like she was floating, and there was nothing around in any direction when she
reached to feel. She wondered which direction to go. Instinctually, she began to float
upwards, though she knew not why she should go. Everything was blank and empty, after all.

She wanted to know where she was and why she was there. The black slowly began to brighten,
but she could see nothing but a blur. The area slowly began to clarify, but Cindy still had
no idea where she was. The shape of a bed appeared from a giant smudge, and a desk appeared
beside it. The walls were laden with wallscrolls and posters of various anime characters.
On the desk, she saw a single folder full of school work, with the name "Cindy Hoa" neatly
written in the corner of the first page.

She realized that it was her room. It must have been; why else would her folder be there?
Even if she didn't recognize the layout or the various posters, it had to have been hers.

There suddenly was a draft through the open window. She saw the pages fly and land on one
page of notes, where a bunch of notes were written, one half in pencil, the other in ink.
She saw that the one in ink was written by Ames.

"Ames...?" she could only utter to herself. Slowly, she pieced together who Ames was. She
remembered a girl, just about her age. She had blonde- no, brown hair. Her eyes were green.
Cindy remembered how smart Ames was... Her real name is Amiko... Amiko?!

"Yes, I know an Amiko!" she said as she looked around the room. She remembered who Amiko
was- one of her best friends. She remembered all they have gone through together.

That's right; she had gone through the Gate and met Mokona, who promised they would meet
her friends. They had searched for weeks and finally found them in Meria. SSJ had been
captured then.

SSJ... Never liked going by his real name at all. Cindy remembered who he was, the loner,
but who became Amiko's, and thus Cindy's, friend. He never did like to do anything, and he
was about as apathetic as they came. She had helped him escape from execution.

She remembered a portion of her friends, but there was a large hole in her memory. She
wondered how she came to be and why she was there. She saw the door to her room open, and
slowly, she floated outside. She was led outside, even though it looked like there should
have been a hallway from the room.

The sky was a shade of red, burning with flames of torment. The occasional fireball
streaked down the sky, striking the ground with a boom. It reminded her of someone. Someone
who could use flames...

She failed to recall his name, but she tried to deduce who she remembered. Fire... Fire...
He liked fire? He used fire? He had a personality like fire? It failed to bring an image to
mind.

She hovered forward, through the barren world outside her room. It was bleak and
uninhabited, no end in sight to the nightmare. There was no sign of life besides her in the
world as she struggled to find her way.

Cindy hovered forward until she saw something fall before her. It was a burnt and charred
body. Behind her, two bodies fell to the ground as well, charred and burnt. Two more fell
upon each side. Though their bodies were charred, their eyes looked straight at her.

Two piercing green eyes stared up at her. "Ames!" she instinctually screamed as she reached
for the body. It suddenly disappeared out of her grasp. She turned and saw the narrow brown
eyes of another body. "SSJ!" she cried as she reached for it. It, too, disappeared.

And another had piercing red eyes, dotted with black dots. She finally remembered who it
was. It was the one who loved money and women. The one who smiled the most. The one whose
feelings raged like flames. The one who controlled flames and ice, TM. She yelled his name,
then he, too, faded away.

That left two more bodies about her. She saw the set of light brown eyes staring straight
at her. She remembered a classmate who was friends with TM. She remembered someone not as
smart as SSJ or Amiko. She remembered that he killed another person she knew. She couldn't
put a name to the burnt face.

She turned to the last body, with the piercing blue eyes staring straight at her, seeming
to be as deep as an ocean. The gloves on his hands showed clearly. His name began to return
to her. He was her friends' guide, for some reason or other. He had known something more
than them, and he had died somehow...

She put two and two together. The one with brown eyes had killed the one with blue eyes.
She recalled a name, "Van!" she cried, remembering he had murdered her friend. "Davis!" she
screamed at the other one.

Both of them disappeared, leaving her alone. She remembered her friends. They had been
trapped, like her, beyond the Gate. They had arrived in another world where they have
constantly battled with others. She remembered the many opponents and friends they had come
across.

The barren wasteland began to smoothen and the skies began to brighten. The smoky clouds
became lighter, bringing a rain of ash. She turned left and right, seeing the ash falling
like snow. Upon closer sight, she realized it wasn't ash. It was newspaper clippings of her
life. Meeting Amiko and then SSJ. Making friends with TM and Davis. Passing Van on her way
to classes. Their arrival in the Other World and the appearance of Rantmon. The battles
with Rantmon's council and the Enders, then with Rantmon himself. Those events all rang
clear in her mind, freshened by the slightly burnt newspaper clippings.

One large page floated before her eyes, and she was suddenly taken aback by the sight of
it. There was a single picture of a hospital bed, covered with a still white sheet. "No!"
she screamed, feeling her head sting in pain. She didn't want to remember. She didn't want
to feel the pain again.

Cindy blocked out her ears and closed her eyes tightly, yet she knew she couldn't escape.
She couldn't run away. She waited there, the world black and silent all around. Finally,
she opened her eyes and released her hands from her ears.

She suddenly was in a hospital room, where there was a steady beep from beside a bed.
Before her, she recognized the body of her dear loved one, laying before her in stillness.
The beep became a continuous shrill call.

'I always ran away. I never wanted to see this again,' Cindy suddenly thought in calmness.
'I had never wanted to remember. I had never wanted to feel such pain again. But...' She
felt the pain inside her heart fade and disappear. She continued thinking, 'This pain is
part of my precious memories! I can't run away from it! This pain is a part of who I am! I
can't throw it away! The past is something I can not erase! I can't ignore it!'

"I am Cindy!" she cried. "I am here because of what happened in the past. It may have been
painful, but I have friends who care about me! They... They all can save me from this
pain!" Cracks suddenly appeared all over the room. White light spilled out from the cracks,
not red from the flaming sky. The body before her faded away, and the roof began to come
down.

A piece of the roof crumbled away, revealing the clear blue sky above. No longer was the
sky cloudy and full of flames. It was regained its peace and calm, and Cindy looked up with
a smile. She felt that the weight in her heart had finally abated. She no longer felt
tormented by the pain in her heart.

She heard something in the back of her head, then. Someone was calling out her name. She
opened her eyes and finally faced the world again.

***

Cindy opened her eyes to see the world around her. She saw the rubble laying all around,
her standing upon a stage. Beside her, there was Mauzel, raising her hands up to the
heavens in song. Cindy then remembered what was going on.

She cried, "Everyone!"

Mauzel suddenly stopped in her song. She turned to Cindy, who yelled again at the rubble,
"Everyone, please!" The blood drained from Mauzel's face. The girl had regained her spirit?!

"NO!" screamed Mauzel. Cindy turned and saw Mauzel, seething with anger. Mauzel's teeth
were clenched and her eyes were wide in anger. "THIS CAN NOT BE!" Cindy saw Mauzel pull
back her hand in anger. Cindy quickly blocked the slap, and knocked Mauzel away.

"No more of this, Virus!" she screamed. "I won't allow anymore!"

"You have no say in this, Girl!" shouted Mauzel as the ooze suddenly shot out of her pores
again. To Mauzel's surprise, however, she saw the ooze come forth from Cindy's skin and
block the many spikes aimed at her. 'That's not possible!' Mauzel cried in her thoughts.
'She can control my body?! She can control me?!'

"You're mistake, Virus," Cindy began, "Was thinking that I was weak!"

Cindy landed a punch on Mauzel's cheek, and the woman flew back in pain. 'That's totally
impossible!' Mauzel screamed in her mind as she struck a building far away. Smoke and dust
were kicked into the air as Mauzel got to her feet again. She glared at Cindy, standing
before her with the gray ooze obeying her whim.

Cindy then raised a hand to the sky. "Thunder!" she yelled. Mauzel suddenly saw the clouds
form above her head. Just as a crack echoed through the area and a bolt raced down at her,
she leapt back to dodge the blow.

"This is impossible for you to recover, Girl!" screamed Mauzel. "Especially with me working
your mind, it is impossible to escape!"

"Apparently, it is," Cindy replied. "I have faced my pain. I understand myself. I am able
to be here because I am not alone. I have my friends behind me, supporting me, aiding me.
Just as they would never abandon me, neither will I do to them!"

Mauzel suddenly heard the rubble behind Cindy turning and moving. Cindy turned behind,
seeing the dust stir. With a cough, the two saw TM triumphantly rise from the rubble,
despite the giant hole in his shoulder with blood constantly flowing from it. "Hah," TM
said with a grin. "You think that was enough to beat us?!"

Mauzel's eyes widened in horror as she saw the rubble beside TM also stir and roll away as
SSJ got to his feet. "Damn it, that hurt," muttered SSJ. SSJ then noticed Cindy, standing
before them. He saw the shine in her eyes and smiled. "Welcome back, Cindy!" Cindy's heart
was moved to smile.

Amiko emerged from the stone, healing her own wound. "You've got to be joking, like we'll
give up here?!" she uttered as she threw a healing spell to TM and SSJ. "We're not giving
up on Cindy, just like she won't give up on us!"

"I agree," came a voice from the pile of stone and brick. Van coughed and rose to his feet,
letting the stones fall, blood flowing from his wounds throughout his body. "You must be a
moron to think those little wounds could kill us."

And then, to Cindy's surprise, she saw Davis shove his way out of the mess. Tears welled in
her eyes and she covered her mouth as Davis grinned at her. "Geez, that was painful," Davis
muttered as he began to stretch. "Almost thought I was gonna die again."

"Idiot!" Cindy yelled back. "Don't joke about that!" Everyone smiled.

With more coughs, everyone saw Kino and Kensou emerge from their spots. Mauzel saw this
with disbelief, and she cried, "But... They are just normal humans! How can *they* of all
people survive?!"

"Idiot Virus," Kino harshly replied. "You really don't know anything about life."

"It's fight or flight," Kensou uttered. Virus was surprised, for he had uttered those words
before. "We won't fly like cowards. That means we will fight with every fiber of our
bodies!" Amiko's green aura spread all around, and soon, everyone stood before Mauzel,
fully healed.

"No, no, no, no, no!" Mauzel screamed. "This is impossible! The girl could not have escaped
my grasp! Nor could you all have survived!"

"Obviously," SSJ interrupted, "It was possible."

"And it is possible, too," Amiko began, "To free Mauzel as well."

"Hear that, Mauzel?!" TM yelled. "We're gonna save you!"

"So please, help us!" Davis pleaded.

"Because we'll definitely rip Virus apart!" Van added.

"Because the strongest will of all is the will to live!" Kensou firmly stated.

"And scum like Virus is unable to understand that!" Kino finally finished.

Cindy smiled at everyone. Then, she also turned towards Mauzel. "Yes!" Cindy yelled. "This
is it, Virus! This time, you will feel the sting of death!"

Mauzel edged away. She began shaking, and to the eight's surprise, she formed a laugh. They
looked at her as she fell into a fit of laughter. ("Virus's gone insane!" TM whispered to
Amiko. Amiko just sweatdropped at that.) Mauzel looked upon them, with wide eyes and formed
a smirk. "That's right, this is the end!" yelled Mauzel. "Because all I need is ten
minutes, and the world is over! The gates will bring Terra into your world and destroy
everything!" Everyone's eyes widened at that. "You can not stop it! I already had
everything I need to reach your world! Mauzel's powers and your girl's knowledge!"

"Tch!" Van muttered. "Do we have to spell it out?!"

"Don't bother!" Cindy yelled. "Because we'll beat Virus, no matter what!" Everyone was
suddenly inspired by her confidence.

"We'll beat this guy in five minutes, anyway!" SSJ yelled.

Mauzel glared at the eight fighters before her. She felt nothing but hatred in her heart.
Ten minutes. All she needed was ten minutes, and the worlds would end. No warning, no last
words, no nothing. It didn't matter how cleanly she did it, she had to destroy Earth and
Terra! She needed to do it in order to destroy life. Destroy the life she loathed. There
could be no escape. None!

The ooze came forth from Mauzel. She needed to quickly do it! The ooze suddenly shot
forward at an amazing speed. Before anyone could react, it had already reached TM and cut
into his hand. To TM's surprise, the ooze crawled up his veins and sped for his heart. It
was trying to kill him so directly?!

But TM wouldn't allow it. To Mauzel's surprise, TM's blood suddenly froze in his arm,
preventing passage along the veins. With Mauzel keeping silent, the ooze retreated and
entered Mauzel again. TM glared at Mauzel, and Mauzel simply smiled. "Good," she began,
"all I needed was that much blood." The eight looked up at her in wonder. "I'm finally
immune to water."

The ooze suddenly came forth from Mauzel's pores and covered her skin. Everyone saw the
gray wings form as the skin became completely black. They saw Mauzel's beautiful blue eyes
become red, and the sweet voice at once became hoarse. "Now!" she cried. "It ends!"

Mauzel suddenly shot forward at the Outlaws, knocking Cindy off her feet as she sped
forward. Cindy saw Mauzel speed at Amiko, a large pike of ooze aimed at Amiko's heart.
Amiko barely dodged the dangerous weapon, receiving a graze on her cheek.

Amiko was knocked away by Mauzel's wings as she banked and turned towards Davis. Davis was
barely able block with his gloves, letting the pike scratch past and barely cut the side of
his head.

TM glared at Mauzel and raised a hand at her. "Come, waterfall!" he shouted as he formed
water just above Mauzel. She turned and saw the bucket loads of water fall upon her wings.

To TM's dismay, he saw the ooze still holding together. "Hah!" Mauzel gloated. "Didn't you
hear me?!" Mauzel flew up into the air and quickly turned and shot towards the ground,
aiming her flight at Kensou.

Kensou was taken aback by her choice, but he gritted his teeth, waiting for the precise
moment to block. He was bound to die, Mauzel had thought.

But to her surprise, Kensou caught the pike with his bare hands, flying with Mauzel as she
raced into the black sky. Kensou quickly saw that he was too far above ground to fall. He
would surely die. Mauzel used this to her advantage, wheeling in and out of the pillars in
an attempt for Kensou to lose his grip.

She flew at a pillar and barely turned to dodge it, but Kensou swung into it, feeling a
great pain but not letting go.

Davis looked up at her and gritted his teeth. Taking an idea from his own Sigma and SSJ's
powers, his gloves began to glow white. He wrote the kanji for "light" in the sky, and to
everyone's surprise, they saw him yell, "Mega Flare!"

A giant boom echoed through the area. Smoke flew into the air as the ground around Davis
shattered, sending a small beam curving at Mauzel. Mauzel saw it, but couldn't dodge it as
it tore apart one of her wings. She swore in pain as she began tumbling towards the ground,
Kensou falling with her.

Kensou quickly grabbed Mauzel and swung her around so she would hit the ground first. To
Mauzel's surprise, Kensou leapt off just as she crashed straight into the rubble of the
cathedral, and Kensou landed beside Amiko.

The area was filled with smoke, clouding everyone's vision. No one saw Mauzel rise up and
reform her wings. Kino emerged through the darkness, gun raised at Mauzel. He squeezed the
trigger at Mauzel's wings, but the woman shot out of the way just as the bullet flew past
where her wings had been. Kino was knocked away as Mauzel broke through the smoke, heading
towards a surprised Amiko.

Amiko turned and took the pike head on, and she flew back from the impact. Mauzel saw with
surprise that the tip of the pike had stopped at the armor protecting her breast. 'That
armor!' Mauzel yelled in her mind.

Amiko and Mauzel suddenly saw SSJ between them two, stance wide as he held his arms in
opposite directions. "Juukenpo," SSJ began. "Hakke Rokujuuyonshou!" ("Gentle Fist! The
Sixty-Four Hands of the Divination!" Mauzel realized that she was caught. Before she could
react, SSJ slammed two fingers into two points on her skin. "Hakke Nishou!" ("Divination
Two Hands!"

Mauzel flew back from the impact. SSJ leapt after her, repeating the attacks and yelling as
he continued, "Yonshou! Hasshou! Juurokushou! Sanjuunishou! Rokujuu...yonshou!" ("Four
Hands! Eight Hands! Sixteen Hands! Thirty-two Hands! Sixty...four hands!") Mauzel flew back
into a thin pillar from the attack, feeling sore in every part of her body. SSJ stood above
her, glaring at her.

Mauzel got to her feet in an instant and three a fist at SSJ. It was then that she realized
what SSJ had done. "Shit!" she swore as she leapt away.

She landed a distance away, feeling her skin burn. That kid had closed off her pores,
blocking off the simple passage of the ooze. She glared at SSJ with immense hatred. "Damn
kid!" she roared. "How dare you?!"

The eight quickly turned to each other. "How will we defeat her?!" yelled SSJ. No one had
an answer that would guarantee that Mauzel would live.

"How do we get Mauzel out of her, first of all?" Amiko shouted. Everyone turned to Cindy,
for she had freed herself from Virus.

Cindy sighed, "I was able to do it myself because I was able to remember my friends..."
Everyone then got an idea. They gave each other grins.

Mauzel spread her wings of ooze and glared at our heroes. "This is it," Mauzel spoke with a
low voice as she turned to Cindy. The pike came from her back, made of the ooze. "It will
end here. I will not allow your continued existence! This has gone on for far too long!"

Everyone saw with horror as Mauzel's body twisted before them. Ooze crawled from Mauzel's
mouth and flowed all over her body. Her chest and legs became covered with a thick shell of
hardened ooze. Her arms became the bases of giant sickles that extended from her forearm.
Her face became covered with a demonic mask of ooze. Everyone saw the red eyes glowing
brightly through the holes of the mask, a giant pike visible on the forehead.

"Now is the winter of our discontent," Mauzel began, "Made glorious summer!" With that, she
flew into the sky, moving at an insane speed. Before long, she was but a dot in the
darkness. Everyone became nervous at such speed, knowing that Mauzel could bore through
them at any moment.

Suddenly, Mauzel's pike tore through Van's stomach. Everyone watched in horror as Van flew
back, hole clear in his cut. Amiko dashed towards him, but Mauzel suddenly rammed through
her left hand, throwing her into the rubble of the cathedral before she flew off.

Mauzel's speed was simply too great. Not even SSJ had an easy time following her. He only
barely saw her in time to prevent her from ripping his head off. Instead, Mauzel grazed his
cheek, throwing blood in the air as he was thrown into a building from the impact.

Even TM's efforts to create a wall of water was destroyed as Mauzel easily rammed through
and made a hole in his shoulder. TM flew back as Mauzel wheeled around and impaled Davis'
side. She quickly let Davis fly back and into the rubble as she aimed for the air.

Mauzel turned in the sky and quickly crashed through Kino and Kensou at once. To her
surprise, Kino and Kensou grabbed onto her, despite the hole driven through their bodies.
She tried shaking them off as she attempted with Kensou earlier, but their tenacity was
amazing.

Suddenly thunder struck the air behind her. She turned and saw Cindy, her yellow aura
prominent in the darkness. Mauzel suddenly realized that the weight of the two men had
slowed her down.

"This is my chance!" Cindy muttered to herself as she reached for her guns. She felt her
side, feeling nothing there. Her eyes widened in panic. She suddenly remembered her guns
had been taken away from her. Cindy looked up at Mauzel, who had turned and raced to ram
through Cindy.

Kino held up his own pistol and shouted, "HERE!" as he threw it at Cindy.

Cindy caught it in her hand and quickly aimed at Mauzel. Much of her great aura suddenly
burst out and flowed into the pistol, sparking and glowing yellow. Mauzel turned white in
surprise. "THUNDER BULLETS!" Cindy screamed as she squeezed the trigger.

An immense boom filled the sky, and Mauzel was shot straight out of the it. Her pike was
shattered, her wings tattered, the mask and armor broken to pieces. Blood flowed from her
shoulder, where Cindy had aimed. Kino and Kensou had been launched away from the giant
impact and slammed into the ground with pain. But Mauzel, too, weak from Cindy's attack,
couldn't hold herself in the sky. Like a dying butterfly, she struggled to stay in the air,
but she could not avoid the pull of gravity. And the butterfly was unable to flap its wings.
