Endless Crisis: Chapter 1

~~~
There were screams of pain coming from everywhere as two people ran down the halls. Both of them were bleeding badly, but with the battle raging outside there was no way to come away without some injuries. The man looked over to the woman running with him, her wounds far worse than his by a long shot. If he didn't get her down to the lab soon she'd die and the hope for the future with her. He cursed himself for thinking that she'd stay away from the battle before speeding up, all by pulling her down the hallways. Something crashed into the building, nearly sending them to the floor as whatever was fighting screamed in un-human voices. Picking the woman back up they stumbled over to the elevator, carefully holding onto the wall as they rode it down into the depths of the earth.
"Is she okay?" the woman asked weakly as she clung to his bloodied lab coat.
For a moment he didn't understand what she was asking, but as the elevator shook again he knew what she wanted to know. Pushing his black hair out of his face, he answered, "Don't worry Evvie, I made sure your sister and everyone else got out of the city while you were fighting..." The woman smiled weakly up at him, nearly breaking his heart as she simply leaned into him... all of her fighting spirit was gone.
The elevator finally stopped down at the bottom, slowly grinding open as the two of them shot through the moment it was wide enough. The lab was untouched from the fighting, since it was deep enough in the earth to keep it safe. Gently setting the woman down on the floor he began pounding keyboards, trying not to look over to the poor creature currently bleeding to death on the floor. There was a sounding beep as the program launched, causing the floor to part in the middle of the room. A shinning tube pushed up through the floor as the man walked about over to the woman to carefully pick her up, ignoring the red pool underneath her as he pulled her towards the tube. The alarms started going off as the man pushed the woman into the tube, sealing her in as she realized what was going on. The creature that had chased them was now in the building looking for them.
Instantly the woman began thrashing around, attempting to break out of the mini prison he had put her in. "Damnit Daniel Valentine! Let me out of here, I have to fight!!"
For a moment he looked at her, all his love for her showing in his eyes. "Someone has to tell them how to beat her, Evvie... Data won’t be enough to make them believe... They'll do something stupid if you don't stop them." He turned back to the elevator as the thing clawed its way into the lab, barely looking like the human it appeared as years ago. Taking a switch from his pocket he began pressing the code sequence that would end the battle for a long time. Behind him the woman smashed into the door repeatedly as she screamed for him, fluid pumping into the chamber as he and the creature faced off. "Just remember..." Another step and the monster screamed as the room lit up with a blinding white light filled the room, cutting off much of what he was trying to say before everything went black, "... just remember..."
Cloud looked up at the dark sky, on his way back from another delivery in Junon. There was something wrong. He could feel it in his skin... in his very bones. Ever since things with Deepground ended six months things hadn't felt the same. It was like something dark was hanging over everything, but no one understood why. According to Nanaki Sephiroth's will was no longer in the Lifestream, but Cloud had doubts about that being completely true. And Vincent had unearthed some files pointing to another monster like Sephiroth, someone known as 'G', but there wasn't much to go on aside from that. He wasn't sure what was going on, but it'd have to be one of the two causing it.
Whatever was going on was going to be bad. And it'd start soon... at least that was what the feel he was getting was telling him.
Suddenly his phone began ringing, breaking his thoughts for a moment. Looking down he saw it was Reeve, he thought about not answering, but at the last moment he answered. "What?"
"You're not going to believe this Cloud, but the WRO has discovered the ruins of an ancient city deep underground just outside of Old Midgar," Reeve said happily, completely forgetting his surprise over Cloud answering his phone. "I've already called everyone else, meet us back at 7th Heaven and I'll take everyone to the site from there."
Just like that Reeve ended the called, leaving Cloud to stare at his phone in wonder. Another ancient city? Closing his phone, Cloud pealed out and sped back towards Edge in a rush.
Yeah... I know, another story. But in my defense this has nothing to do with me, I came up with new characters for this story. I got the idea for this while reading a forum online about how the original game was a little confusing due to problems with translations [Like people saying 'Christ' when they shouldn't know who Christ is]. In someone's post they stated how it was odd that in Sephiroth's Super Nova attack all the planets are the same ones in our solar system.
And then this idea was born. I'm not going to say anything about the story because I'm really proud of this one. And hopefully people will like the idea too. So even though the story doesn't look like much now, it'll get better as time goes by. Because like every good story it has to have a beginning.
