Chronicles Of The
Beast Gods

It was early morning and the city
of Tokyo was quiet. Yuuki Miaka ran
about her house, half trying to finish breakfast, and half trying to get her
backpack on and get to school. Miaka
heard a knock at the door and ran to the living room to grab the last things
she thought she'd need. "I'm
leaving!" She yelled to her brother and
ran out the door.

Only to be met with…nothing.

She blinked. "Huh?"
She was now confused.

Then, suddenly, from the side,
strong arms came and wrapped around Miaka in a tight hug.

Miaka squealed and turned
around. She smiled as green met
handsome violet. "Good morning
Miaka." Tamahome greeted.

His dark hair was damp from his
morning showed, and even if it was chilly outside, his smile could melt her
heart.

"Good morning, Tamahome." Miaka said.

Keisuke was watching from inside
the house. He smiled amusingly. Newlyweds.

Tamahome offered to carry Miaka's books and together
they walked hand in hand to meet Yui on the corner.

Yui was there, as always, but today
she wasn't wearing her normal smile.

Miaka frowned as Tamahome handed
her the books. "I'll see you after
school." He gave her a kiss on the
cheek and started down his own path towards the college.

Miaka went over to her bets
friend. "Yui, what's wrong?"

Yui sighed. "I'll tell you on the
way to school."

The school bus came and the two
boarded to go to high school.

"He…what? Miaka asked.

Yui nodded. "I caught him drooling over another
girl." She sighed. "I broke up with him."

Miaka pat her on the back. "Good for you. You deserve better anyway."

Yui nodded. "Yeah, maybe."

Miaka smiled. "Come on!
Let's see if the cafeteria has any more breakfast snacks!" She ran ahead and wasn't watching where she
was going…

Miaka suddenly ran into someone and
was pushed off roughly, landing on her bottom.
Yui ran up to her.

"Miaka! Are you alright?"

Miaka nodded, suppressing a
grimace.

"Watch where you're going, freshman." A sharp voice growled.

Miaka gasped and looked up. A group of girls glared at the red head as
her friend helped her to her feet.
Miaka knew of this group. They
were a bunch of seniors this year that was made up of the most popular girls in
school. No one messed with them unless
they wanted trouble for the rest of the year.

"I…um, sorry." Miaka bowed her apology.

"Better be more careful, Yuuki, or
else." Their leader, Akeen Lelana,
said. She had long black hair and
bright red eyes. Her "second in
command" had long brown hair and dark brown eyes. Her name was Yasuhiko Miyazaki, or Miya for short.

Miaka swallowed hard as they slowly
walked away.

"What's up with them?" Yui said, glaring at them as they left.

"I don't know. But we had better be careful." Miaka changed the subject. "Come on, let's get to class before we're late."

Lelana growled as they left the two
freshman right there in the middle of the courtyard. She hated that girl for all she was worth. Lelana had been the most popular girl since
her freshman year and even before then!
Then this…Miaka comes to high school and takes all that away from
her. It had spread around school that
the Miaka girl had some of the highest grades on the high school entrance
exams, the best personality of the new class, and the hottest boyfriend! No matter who Lelana went out with, it was
always with the top boy, but she'd never heard of this guy.

He supposedly went to the local
college and had grown up right here in Tokyo.
So why hadn't she heard about him before? She thought she'd know every hot and popular guy there was to be born,
but Tamahome… she hadn't heard of him.
And why in the world would he go out with a little freshman? She herself had made passes at him while he
waited for that brat to get out of school, but he would not fall for her. It was infuriating!

Do you want power?

Lelana stopped cold when she heard the voice in her
head. Miya turned to her. "What's wrong, Lelana?"

Lelana shook her head. "Nothing."
She said coldly. "Let's keep
going." She started to walk again. Must be studying too much…

Do you want to take the role of
most popular in the school?

She gasped, and faltered in step as
the voice came to her again. Who are
you?

I am a powerful deity. Will you work for me, if I promise that you
will become everything you ever wanted?

Lelana smirked. What do you want me to do?

Go to the national library and
pick up the Universe Of The Four Gods…

"You ran into her?" Tamahome asked, walking home with Miaka.

Miaka nodded. "I didn't mean
to. I was just trying to get to the
cafeteria."

Tamahome smirked knowingly. "That
explains it. Nothing comes between you
and food."

Miaka playfully hit Tamahome in the
side. "You! Nothing comes between you and money!" She teased.

Tamahome wrapped an arm around her
waist, pulled her close, and gently whispered in her ear. "That's not true. You did. You came between
me and money cause you, my sweet Miaka, are by far more precious, valuable, and
important to me than anything else, even my life."

Miaka blushed and buried her head
in his hair, inhaling his scent and completely relaxing in his warm embrace.

That is until electricity seemed to
shoot through her body, making her stiffen…

Tamahome experienced the same thing
and began hearing a familiar voice in his head.

"Tamahome! Hey!
Tamahome! Miaka! Do you hear me?"

Miaka gasped as the voice came to
her as well. "Ch-Chichiri?"

"We've got some major trouble, ya
know! You have to come back!" He said.

Miaka nodded. "I'm on it."

She and Tamahome exchanged a single
glance… and dashed straight to Miaka's house.

"So, you heard it too?" Miaka asked over the phone.

Yui, on the other end, nodded. "Chichiri said to come back to the Universe
Of The Four Gods with you two."

"I'll meet you in the Reference
Room in one hour." Miaka proposed.

"I'll be there."

Tamahome looked at Miaka
anxiously. "Well?"

Miaka turned to him with a serious
expression. "We're going back."

Miya slightly cowered behind her
fearless friend, Lelana. "Y-you sure
we're supposed to be in here?"

"You are such a baby. I told you, this is where it is." Lelana had gone to the national library and
walked right into the open door to the reference room. "The Universe Of The Four Gods…"

"Why do we need that book?" Miya said, carefully closing the door behind
them, but leaving it slightly open so they couldn't get locked in.

"Do you really want Miaka to have a
better reputation than us?" Lelana
began looking around when suddenly a book floated off the shelf and fell to the
ground in front of her.

"Frankly, I don't care- Ahh!" Miya screamed as she saw the book had a
green-white glow to it. "W-where did
that come from?"

Lelana looked back at her friend
with an unsure expression… "I don't know…"

Miaka, Tamahome, and Yui met at the
front of the library and walked into the lobby. "What do you think has happened?" Miaka asked.

"Nothing good." Yui answered.

Tamahome took a few glances
around. "What I want to know is how
Chichiri was able to communicate with us across dimensions."

Miaka's magical senses went on
alert, just as Yui's and Tamahome's did.
She looked at the staircase that led to the Important Reference Room and
saw Green and White sparkles leading up to the room. "Look!" She started
running up to the room as fast as she could.

"Miaka! Wait!" Tamahome ran after
her, Yui right on his heels.

Miaka through open the door and
gasped as her eyes spotted two very familiar girls holding the Universe Of The
Four Gods. "L-Lelana and Miya?"

"That's Miyazaki to you,
freshman." Miya glared at the group.

"So…you came to try and stop me,
Miaka? Think again! You've been the best in everything for the
last time! As soon as I enter this
other world, I will have more power than you ever imagined!" Lelana smirked and held the book high above
her head.

Miaka gasped as Lelana was
enveloped in a bright green light, and Miya was surrounded in a white aura…then
they both disappeared.

"No!" Miaka ran forward and caught the book, right before it fell to
the ground. "Oh no…she…she went into
the book." Miaka turned to her friends.

"Is this what Chichiri meant?" Yui knelt down.

"We had better find out and
fast!" Tamahome placed his hands on the
book, followed by Yui and the three closed their eyes.

They envisioned a world described
as ancient China, with lots of trees and carriages roaming in and out of the
town. The three were surrounded in a
blue and red light, and they too disappeared…back into the book…

…Back into the Universe Of The Four
Gods…

"And how long ago did you tell them
the message, Chichiri?" The orange
haired Tasuki asked.

"I was able to send the message a
few days ago. But remember, our time
and their time and different, ya know."
Chichiri pointed out.

The two remaining warriors (minus Tama) were
presently at Mt. Taikyoku, patiently awaiting the arrival of heir priestess.

Tasuki scoffed and crossed his
arms. "Yeah, well, girls are ALWAYS
late."

"I heard that!" Came a voice from above him.

Tasuki looked up. "Huh?"

"Incoming!" Miaka shouted her warning as she and her
companions fell from the sky above Tasuki and landed on top of the bandit, cold
center.

"Get off of me!!!" Tasuki shouted pitifully, trying to get up
with the weight of three people lying on top of him.

"What was that about girls being
late?" Miaka smirked and bounced once
before getting off.

Tasuki sweated a little.
"That? Oh, it was nothing." He rubbed the back of his head.

"Didn't you make me a
promise?" Miaka put her fist on her
hips.

Tasuki shook a finger. "I said I wouldn't say I hate girls…I never
said anything about stating facts about them."
He let out a laugh.

"It's a good thing you guys are
here, ya know." Chichiri said, breaking
into the conversation.

"This is Mt. Taikyoku, right?" Yui asked.

"Then where's Taiisukun?" Tamahome wondered.

Tasuki's smile faded and he turned
to Chichiri. Chichiri sighed in
dismay. "Taiisukun has fallen ill. Her powers are weak, ya know. That's why we called you here. She won't last much longer."

Miaka gasped. "C-can we see her?"

Chichiri nodded and led the group
down the corroded hallways of Taiisukun's dwelling. When they came to a large door, it opened and the sight that
befell them was one that would be etched in their memories forever.

A handful of Nyan Nyan surrounded
the small form of Taiisukun, lying in her bed.

"T-Taiisukun." Miaka ran to the bed and knelt before the
creator. "What happened?"

Taiisukun coughed and looked up
with fallen eyes. "I, Taiisukun, am the
creator of this world…just as God, is the creator of your world. And just like your world has a demon to
serve as the devil, so does this world.
His name is Ladon, and he has recently grown very powerful, sealing away
my powers and therefore sealing away the power to maintain this world's
existence." The old woman explained.

"What can we do to help?" Yui asked.

Chichiri stepped forward. "That's where we come in." He said.
"We have to once again, seek out the beast gods power to break the seal
and
seal away Ladon. You two
priestess must work together this time, and bring forth both gods."

"And we will be there to help
you." Said another voice.

The group turned around and saw the
spirits of Suboshi, Soi, and Nuriko standing besides them. Amiboshi was also there with a smile on his
face.

Miaka blinked. It was almost too much for her to take in.

Tasuki explained. "Taiisukun gave Amiboshi back his memory and
brought him here. The Nyan Nyan will
give the use of their bodies for the others to use."

Yui felt tears come to her eyes.
"Suboshi…"

The Nyan Nyan giggled and took that
as their cue and ran forward to the spirits.
Their forms became solid and Suboshi was the first to run up to Yui and
bring her into a hug. Miaka ran up to
Nuriko and the two hugged.

Tamahome crossed his arms. "And we
have to work with them?" His voice was
full of the disgust he felt.

Soi glared at him. "You got a problem with that?"

"Stop it! Cease this pointless bickering!"
Taiisukun managed to shout. "We
must learn to work together in order to fight Ladon. He is most power than anything you have faced before.

"Then we will get stronger we will
beat him." Miaka said with full determination
in their abilities.

Taiisukun nodded. "Then I will assist you in any way I
can. Warriors of Seiryu step
forward." Soi, Suboshi, and Amiboshi
moved forward as told. "I will grant
you more power in the faith that you will use them against this new enemy and
not at each other."

Chichiri caught on. "No, that will diminish your powers too
low! You won't be able to survive…"

"I know what I am doing! Do not question me!" Taiisukun silenced her student.

Tasuki looked at Taiisukun. "Do you really think that's a good idea to
increase their powers?"

Soi glared at him. "Are you questioning our loyalty?" She growled.

Tasuki turned to her. "To yourselves? Not in the slightest."

Soi formed a fist with her
hand. "Why you little bandit wanna be…"

"Silence!" Taiisukun shouted. She closed her eyes and a blue glow formed in front of each
Seiryu warrior.

To Amiboshi, a new, stronger silver
flute. It's notes now ten times more
powerful and deadly.

To Suboshi, his headband formed a
dark blue Seiryu marking on it, giving him better control over his ryuseisui.

To Soi, a tall gold and blue staff,
for which to control the lighting and her other powers better.

Taiisukun coughed a bit and the
group saw her form begin to fade.

"No! Taiisukun!" Miaka ran to
her.

The building began to collapse and
a large boulder fell from the sky, heading for Miaka.

"Look out!" Tamahome rushed forward and grabbed Miaka
just in time to roll out of the way, as Nuriko came and punched the boulder,
making it crumble to the ground.

Nuriko cracked her knuckles. (Which
I really hate to hear when people do that >_<) "It feels so good to be solid again."

Yui saw Taiisukun disappear
completely. "Miaka! Look!"

Miaka watched in horror as the
creator…disappeared. "No!"

More rocks feel and Suboshi covered
Yui's body with his own. "We have to
get out of here!"

Tasuki turned to Chichiri. "Do that carpet thing!"

"You got it, ya know!" Chichiri took off his cape and threw it onto
the floor. Everyone on! Now!"
The Suzaku Seven and Amiboshi got on immediately, but Soi and Suboshi
were reluctant.

"Brother, get on!" Amiboshi pleaded with his twin.

"Hurry!" Yui urged.

Soi and Suboshi exchanged glances,
before running onto the carpet.

"We are out of here!" Chichiri hit the ground with his staff and
the group fell through the ground and out of Mt. Taikyoku.

Miaka and the others made it safely
back to the forest that led to Mt. Taikyoku, but Miaka wished that Taiisukun
wasn't gone. Did she have to live
through loosing friends all over again?
Would history repeat itself?

"Don't worry." Nuriko said behind her.

Miaka turned around. "Oh, Nuriko. I hated to leave her like that."

Nuriko nodded. "Yeah, well we
couldn't do anything just yet. We have
to do as she said as summon the beast gods once more. That way we can take care of this Ladon guy and get Taiisukun
back."

Miaka nodded. "It's the least we can do for her."

"That's the spirit! Now, how about some dinner?" Nuriko said, but blinked in astonishment as
Miaka was already gone, upon hearing the mention of food. She smirked. "Some things never change."

A little bit farther down was Yui,
also going through her own problems.
Why had the Seiryu Seven come back?
Was she going to be a better priestess this time around? Or would she not be worthy?

"Lady Yui?"

Yui turned around and saw Suboshi
standing there. "Hi. I didn't hear you come up."

"May I join you?" He asked carefully, still shy around her.

Yui smiled. "Anytime, come on."

He took a seat besides her. There was a moment of silence before Suboshi
found the courage to speak. "So…how was
life back in your world?"

Yui winced. "It's okay…I just broke up with my
boyfriend. I really thought he was
different."

Suboshi looked at Yui's hurt
face. He hated to see her so sad. "Don't feel bad. I'm sure you'll find the
one made for you someday." He comforted
her. Not sure of what to do
next…Suboshi tried to put an arm around Yui.

Yui gasped at feeling his touch,
but soon leaned into it. "Oh, Suboshi.
What if I'm not fit to be priestess?
You died because of me…"

"And we came back to life because
of you too." Suboshi pointed out.

Yui looked up confused and Suboshi
smiled at her childish expression.
"How?" She asked.

"The Celestial Warriors live for
their priestess. When you come back…so
do we. Our sole purpose for living is
to protect you at all costs." He
smiled. "I got that from Tamahome."

Yui frowned. "Are you two getting along?"

Suboshi shrugged. "If it's what we need to get through this
mission and protect you, then I'm willing to work with that hothead. Plus, he's shown me unearthly kindness by
sparing my life after I…" He choked back a sob.

Yui sat up and pat Suboshi on the
back. "Hey, come on. That was a long time ago. You can even say a past life." That got Suboshi to laugh. "We'll get through this, but only if you
promise to stay strong by my side."

Suboshi nodded. "I swear on my parents grave, I will protect
you at all costs."

Yui nodded and stood up with a
smile. "Let's get back to the others."

Lelana and Miya stayed close by
each other as the dark figure walked up to them. "You two come from the other world…that makes you the two new
priestesses." He pointed to Lelana. "The Priestess of Genbu." He pointed to Miya. "The Priestess of Byakko."

A dozen shadows came up behind
him. "And these…are your celestial
warriors."

The two girls exchanged
glances. What had they gotten
themselves into…
