Chapter 11: Trap Set
"This is outrageous! I want my lawyer!" Dekim said, placing a file in the rack and turning back to the detectives. "I'm not saying a word till I get a lawyer."
Noin looked at the man and rolled her eyes.
"All right, Dekim, that's an option," Zechs said.
"And frankly," Noin followed, "a reasonable one."
"So you call your lawyer, Dekim. You tell him you've been arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto. We indict you."
"He'll bail you out."
"And we move on to trial," Zechs finished, his cold blue eyes serious and deadly.
"Okay, okay," Dekim said, cornered. "A kid came to me, said he'd pay $500 a key. So I put the order forms through, and he picked'em up a couple days later."
"What's the kid's name?"
"We kept it anonymous," Dekim replied, spreading his arms. "He was a well-built kid. Uh, looks like a boxer." When Zechs looks doubtful, he said, "What do you want me to do?"
"When he comes back, you call us."
"What says he comes back?"
"A hunch."
