Soldier's Life
The tears of yesterday
are the rivers of today
flowing fast and swift
without a drop of mercy
created by the pain
of a thousand souls
endless and endless
they are the heart and soul
of the tormented ones
Why must I be the one?
Why can't I be selfish
and wallow is self pity
and shrug everything off?
but I can't
because it is my mission
to bear and stand
the unbearable
to be able to survive
the night through
until my mission is complete
I will sit in silence
unable to cry my pain
unable to relieve my heart
I will sit until I am able
to pass my pain
to the next,
to let my torch burn out
Then I will be free
I will be able to pass
on to the next realm
there hopefully
I will be able to rest
let myself lie down
to rest my weary heart,
close my eyes
of course, until my next mission.
