A Curse A Blessing A Destiny

AN: Alright I'm gonna admit that this is PURELY a fluke of my imagination and my love of a certain mystical creature. So enjoy and read on with good humor. This is rated PG because a bit of language and stuff. Bad Inu Yasha and his potty mouth. Oh yeah and this is a Sess/Kag fic. I dreamt it up and i just couldn't help but want to type it out.

Chapter 1: Kagome's Wishes and Wants

Kagome sighed as she grabbed her pack and hauled it up out of the well. Normally she was rather late coming back and Inu Yasha came after her to get her, but she had actually finished everything on time. With a grunt she hauled her pack up and out of the well. Pausing to catch her breath and grin bitterly at the pack.

*Wasn't so long ago that hauling this thing around wouldn't have made me break a sweat.* Kagome sighed, *Damn you Inu Yasha! I really miss it! And its all your fault I had to QUIT!*

Even as she thought it, Kagome knew that it was a lie. She knew all to well that SHE was the one who had broken the Shikon no Tama.

"Kagome!" Shippo shrieked and launched into her arms. "Yeah your back! MAMA!"

"Huh, hi Shippo. Where's Inu Yasha?" she asked as she hugged the little kit.

"Probably with Kikyo in the woods." the kit stated, unaware of Kagome's wince.

*I know that he loves her, and i want him to be happy... but it still hurts. Oh well. Its part of loving him I guess. I just want him to be happy.* Kagome thought as she walked slowly back to camp. *Soon he'll be able to have his wish... With the Shikon complete he can become a full demon or even wish Kikyo to flesh. He can live happily with her and have a good life.*

"Kagome?" Shippo asked worriedly, "I'm sorry I didn't think..."

"Its alright Shippo," Kagome sighed and sat down on a knoll looking over the village. "I love him, I want him to be happy. It doesn't hurt me anymore. He's happy and thats all that matters to me."

"Why are you like that?" Shippo asked curiously.

"Like what?" Kagome asked bewildered.

"You forgive him and hope for his own happiness above your own. You don't care about yourself, not really, you are always busy making sure everyone else is happy." Shippo commented.

"You noticed all that?" Kagome asked eyeing the kit wearily.

"No, Sango said so." he answered making Kagome smiled and hug him close.

"I suppose its because its just ME. I have never hated anyone, though i have gotten plenty angry and mad at some. Naraku and Kikyo in particular, but i never hated either." Kagome noted thoughtfully. "I've never asked for anything from those i love. Though I have wished for stuff. I think that I simply don't tell you guys what i want or wish for."

"Oh..." Truthfully the Kitsune hadn't a clue as to what she was talking about.

"Lets head down." Kagome murmured.

"Huh, alright mom." Shippo sighed and the two headed down to the village.

Miroku and Sango greeted her from their porch and Kagome smiled. Miroku had a possessive arm wrapped around the Demon Exterminator and she was holding the gentle swell on her stomach grinning.

*My friends have all found happiness,* Kagome sighed, *All except Inu Yasha and Kikyo, but soon they will be happy as well.*

As she looked down at Shippo she couldn't help but wonder, *Shippo is happy so long as he is with me, but will I ever find happiness? What awaits me in this world and my own? What new adventure must I take to find my own happiness? I will soon have made those around me happy, but what of my happiness? Am i content with just their happiness. Yes, but do i want more? Is it wrong to want more?*

"What be on ye mind child?" Keade asked when Shippo and Kagome arrived.

"Keade am i selfish?" Kagome asked with a frown, "Soon all my friends will be happy. But i can't help but wonder about my own Happiness. Shippo has me, and Sango has Miroku, Kikyo and Inu Yasha will find happiness with the jewel, but am I selfish if I wonder if I will ever find my own happiness?"

"No, Kagome you have done everything possible to make those around you happy and content. You have sacrificed everything to make sure that others had their wishes fulfilled. Even young Shippo and Kiarara you have made happy. It is no more wrong to want for yourself then it is granting their wishes." Keade smiled, "I had wondered when you would search for your own joys and happiness."

"So I'm not a bad person?" Kagome asked as she watched Shippo and Kiara play.

"How could you be?" Inu Yasha demanded as he sat up from where he was sunning himself on the roof.

"OH! I thought you were with Kikyo," Kagome blushed, "Did you hear everything?"

"Feh! Of course!" Inu Yasha snapped.

Kagome giggled but her blush deepened. "Did you mean that?"

"Huh What?" Inu Yasha asked.

"Did you mean what you said just now, do you really think that i'm not bad?" Kagome asked quietly.

"Stupid woman! Ofcourse your not! You have helped us all in some way or another. You gave your life to me because we BROKE the Shikon No TAMA! You've given alot up Kagome. Its not wrong to want in return." Inu Yasha snapped, "You've done WAY too much GOOD for you to be BAD!"

"Thanks Inu Yasha." Kagome murmured and gave a faint smile. "Shall we go get Kikyo?"

"YEAH!" Inu Yasha grinned, "She said she'd be waiting at the Tree."

"Well lets get going," Kagome smiled. "Shippo Kiarara!"

Inu Yasha smiled but inwardly frowned. He saw the deep sadness within Kagome's eyes. *You have done so much for me. You taught me to trust and love again. I hurt you so much and took so much from you. Yet you always forgave and stood beside me. Even after YOU destroyed Naraku and I CHOSE Kikyo. You killed him because of me, and yet you forgive all but yourself.* He thought sadly as he watched his friend get on Kiarara. *I am so sorry for ever hurting you. Should you ever need me, just call and I will be at your side to help in any way I can. You are forever more then a mere friend.*

Oblivious to Inu Yasha's thoughts Kagome was laughing and chatting with Shippo when she sensed the evil aura.

"Inu Yasha?" Kagome called over to her friend.

"Yes?" he asked.

"There's something terribly wrong close! Its not Kikyo either though I sense her as well!" Kagome explained.

Inu Yasha nodded and drew Tetsusaiga.

The group landed and slowly approached the God Tree.

"So I will be given my soul and you the Shikon no Tama," Kikyo laughed as she looked at the male Black Fae.

"Yes, and if I am right I will also get a Pheonix Heart or a Dragon." The Black Fae snickered. "She won't know what hit her."

"Kikyo?" Inu Yasha snarled when he saw the Black Fae, "What have you done?"

"Made a bargain is all, love!" Kikyo stated innocently.

Her soul stealers grabbed Inu Yasha and pinned him to the God Tree. He watched with horror as Kagome came into the clearing. He howled his rage and felt his Demon pressing against the binding that Tetsusaiga made.

Kikyo merely laughed and gestured to the Black Fae. "There Lord is your Prey!"

Kagome froze when she saw the Fae and took an uncertain step backward. The Jewel about her throat flashed with the last glitters of the sunset. The fae walked up to the frozen girl and placed a hand over the jewel as he chanted the spell. Kagome dropped Shippo and Kiara as her eyes went wide with pain and a screamed rose up from her throat. It came out in a musical tinkling like water over smooth rocks. She glowed white with her own purity.

The Fae stepped back to watch his handiwork.

Kagome glowed with a brilliant white blue silver light. She made another soft musical sound and the light flashed into such brilliance that all were blinded by the iridesent light. Kagome had collapsed in agony as her body seemed to seep with first firey lava then ice cold blades. Her blood pounded and moved slugishly as her body changed into something that should never be. Her body seemed to shatter and then flow into some new form that Kagome knew was her souls truest form. She was dimly aware of Kikyo's pathetic cry as the rest of her soul returned to her. Kagome could feel the solid beat of the Shikon no Tama within her breast. It too had changed and now pulsed within her blood. She could feel its power adding to hers and with it the knowledge of its four hundred years. Her head reeled as she found the knowledge of what she had always trully been.Though she had learned some of it before when she had defeated Naraku She had been the Shikon made flesh and nothing more. Made souly for the purpose to grant the souls within it their last wish. To rest in peace once again. She had no true form but her own soul now was granted its truest form.

Opening her blue eyes Kagome knew insintively what she had become. Standing from her crumpled heap she whinnied and reared. Her single silver pearl horn glowing brightly in the sunset. Her silver blue body rippling a deep violet as she looked upon the Black Fae and the dust that had once created Kikyo.

"A UNICORN!" the Black Fae raged, "A stupid pathetic UNICORN! You were to be A DRAGON! or a PHEONIX!"

"I am not capable of the hate that Dragons harbor within their breasts, nor am I capable of the gloried rage of a Pheonix. I have the fire and passion of both creatures but never their true natures. Nor a sphinx. Though i've its wisdom, i do not seek knowledge as it does." Kagome replied simply, "I am innocence and purity. Always giving to those i love and loving without expecting anything in return."

"Unicorns can't LOVE!" the Fae snarled.

"No, they can't but the love i hold for my friends and family id as pure and blessed as any Unicorn." Kagome stated simply. "My nature is childlike with wisdom of ages long forgotten. That is the same nature of a Unicorn."

"Mama?" Shippo asked with fear.

"Do not worry Shippo, only my form has changed, and no Black Fae can touch me so long as i hold this form." Kagome replied, "That is why he is so frustrated, he is FORBIDDEN from touching me."

"Kagome..." Inu Yasha whispered in horror.

"I will return Kikyo to you, as she was before her death. She will remember nothing of what she has done, that will always remain within me for their is no reason she should suffer. Be happy Inu Yasha, for that is what i have always wanted for you." Kagome whispered.

"Damn it all!" the Fae snarled.

"You must return from whence you came, you have done what you were called to do." Kagome pointed out angrily. "Now begone from my sight!"

The fae sighed and bowed before he vanished.

Kagome walked over to the pile of ash.

"DON'T!!!!" Inu Yasha barked.

Kagome blinked and raised her delicate head to eye him with her clear blue eyes which were filled with sadness.

"Don't, she is where she is supposed to be, I do not wish to bring her back. It wouldn't be the same. I love her but she... just don't. I'm happy just knowing that she is at peace." he stated sadly.

"She is... what walked this world was the animation of her hate, not Kikyo. Simply the memories of herself just before she died." Kagome stated. "Remeber her not as she was dead but how she was alive."

"Your leaving aren't you?" Inu Yasha stated.

"MAMA!?" Shippo cried, "Your leaving me?"

"No Shippo, I am not leaving you, I would love for you to come with me. Yes Inu Yasha, I am leaving but not before I say goodbye to the others. I have already told my family that i had intended to stay here with Shippo. They agreed and gave their blessings. In this form i can travel as I wished to." Kagome smiled, "Come lets say goodbye to the others and explain my new appearance."

"Kagome you were once human, do you think...." Inu Yasha wondered.

"Perhaps, lets see..." Kagome closed her eyes and concentrated on what she had looked like as a human. She felt a brief moment of warmness before opening her eyes. "well?"

"It worked, but not quite..." Inu Yasha sighed. "Don't you have a Mirror in your pack?"

"Yeah," Kagome looked through her pack before comming up with the mirror. She was shocked by the change. Her skin was now the color of a pearl and her hair a strange silver blue mixture. Her ears were pointy though hidden by her now long flowing hair. her lips were a pale pink and her eyes a clear midnight blue framed by thick blue lashes. On her forhead there was a cresent moon also the blue and barely visible violet star burst in its center where her hown would have been. She was now a beautiful pale creature resembling a human but looking and feeling nothing like a human. She held an unatural beauty and an unwaverying grace. "Oh my god!"

"I think it would be better if you waited here while we bring the others to you." Inu Yasha murmured, "And i would suggest that no matter what form you stay away from the humans. They as well as some demons would covette capturing and keeping you as their 'pet'. Though no creature could ever hold a Unicorn."

Kagome nodded and sat on a rock to wait.

"Oh My GOD! KAGOME!?" Sango cried when she spotted the younger girl, "What did that bitch do!?"

"She called a black fairy and he changed me into my souls truest form." Kagome replied, "A Unicorn, this is just my humanoid form. I don't think REAL unicorns can change like me though."

"Oh you poor child!" Keade murmured. "A Unicorn? It is said they are void of all emotion except happiness and sadness. They can supposedly feel nothing else. Which is why they seek out innocent souls, so they may feel the innocence of others and the love they feel."

"That is true, but not for me it seems." Kagome murmured, "I was not a Unicorn by birth, I was created into one. I know my feeling that i felt as a human. I still feel them."

"You poor poor child!" Keade murmured.

"You have to go, but you will visit won't you?" Sango asked.

"Yes," Kagome smiled.

"May budda bless," Miroku murmured.

"Take Kiarara, she has become more yours then mine, especially since you are Midoriko's Reincarnation of sorts." Sango murmured, "after all you are the Shikon made flesh, and Midoriko's soul was what made the Shikon."

"Very well," Kagome murmured, "I Will miss you all!"

"As we will miss you," Miroko stated, "stay away from humans, even the innocents that are destined to draw you. Human greed is an aweful thing, even more so for a new Unicorn."

"The other's of your kind will reject you, because your not natural and you can FEEL as they cannot, I hate to say this child, but you are now more alone in this world then ever before. Trust only those you know." Keade murmured, "May the gods bless you."

"Goodbye Kagome," Inu Yasha murmured and hugged her, "Your a true friend. Seek out my brother, he knows those with great knowledge. Even he himself knows much, he will help you, at a price, but most likely the price is the chellenge of helping you. Go to him, Rin probably misses you too."

"Those are words i never in my life thought i would here you say!" Kagome laughed.

"Fey!" he snorted but his eyes showed his worry.

"I will, perhaps I will return to my human form, though i doubt it. Good bye Inu Yasha, till we meet again!" Kagome smiled and hugged him. She kissed him lightly on the cheek and felt a tear streak its lone path down her cheak. *I'm sorry it did not turn out for you my dearest friend! I hope you find your happiness soon!*

"I have Kagome, I found my happiness and peace long ago, when you became my friend." he murmured for her ears alone. "Take care of yourself, and if Sesshomaru won't help tell me i'll beat him to a bloody pulp!"

Giggling Kagome nodded. Returning to her Unicorn form she bowed her head to her friends before Kirara and Shippo and she ran off in a flicker of silver.

"She's beautiful! Her soul trully realized..." Sango murmured, "She was always beautiful, inside out, but now...."

Her companions all agreed as they watched creature fade away like stardust and moonbeams.
