Chapter 13- Regaining His Heart

 

Kagome couldn't move, she had a feeling that most of her soul was gone already, she had to think of something, and think of it quickly, if she didn't she would die, she closed her eyes, she didn't want to die, she had to get Inuyasha back, but how?

 

She hear Inuyasha cry out and she opened her eyes to see that Koga had tackled him again and she gasped as she felt her soul rush back to her. She stood up and put her hand to her shoulder and let the transformation come over her, she winced as Koga went crashing into the wall, he didn't move, Kagome carefully avoided Inuyasha's gaze as she and him began their battle.

 

She dodged his attacks and he dodged hers, then she realized, that maybe the only way to save him was to use the one way that she didn't want to think about, she cried out as his claws ripped across her arm, she stood still to long and now blood was dripping down her arm.

 

She looked at Inuyasha desperately, the boy she had loved since they had first danced together under the God Tree, the boy she had loved since he had threatened Onigumo, the boy she had loved when he first got jealous of Koga and Miroku, the boy she had loved since time had begun and beyond.

 

The boy that had grown into a man and had captured her heart, and yet hated her, she couldn't stand it; she knocked him down with a charm and held up a death charm, he stood up, pulling off the stun charm that she had blown him down with.

 

She met his eyes, but refuse to let him take her soul, she had to do this, she had to kill the man that she loved, was this what her mother had felt when she had known that she had sentenced her husband to his death by just having the jewel?

 

Would this be what Kikyo would feel one day because her sister had the jewel and was endangering her love's life, is this how they had, and would one day, feel? This incredible pain that was wrapping itself around her and choking her, this pain that was making her hand shake as she held the charm.

 

Is this what Sango had felt when her brother had been possessed one time by a demon and she had thought that she would have to kill him until, what could only be called a miracle, he had broken the demon's bonds and returned to normal.

 

Kagome let a choked sob out through her closed throat, she felt so cold, as though she was sticking a knife in her heart, but she knew that she would have to do this, if she didn't the world could die, but that didn't stop her hand from lowering and the charm floating to the ground.

 

“I can't do it….” she whispered, then she looked up into his eyes before running towards him. “NO! I won't let him take you from me!” she screamed, her aura pulsing, he gasped.

 

“Kagome?” he whispered, his arms wrapped around her as his clothes changed back to normal.

 

“Inuyasha…thank god…you need to get Koga out of here…the others are waiting…I have to finish Naraku off!” Kagome leaped up and planted her lips against his, but this time Inuyasha responded, his arms tightening and his mouth crushing against hers, she pulled away, and smiled.

 

“Go…I'll be there soon.” she whispered before running off, she put a hand to her heart as she ran through all the passageways in the odd building that Naraku lived in, a warm blush staining her cheeks.

 

`I'll always protect you.' words that he uttered almost ten years ago echoed in her head and she had to giggle as her hand moved to her mouth, still warm from his kiss, her blush grew more pronounced.

 

She had regained his heart, and now she was going to give Naraku hell for trying to take the person that meant the most to her away from her, she'd never forgive him for killing her parents, trying to make Kikyo, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha kill, nor trying to steal her soul. Naraku was a dead man.
