Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha.

I've Been Waiting For You

From the first time he hit Inuyasha over his head for making her cry, her heart had been his. And so she waited; confident that it would only be a matter of time before his heart would be hers as well.

Through elementary school she waited; knowing that because girls matured faster than boys, he just didn't realize his own feelings…yet.

Through high school she waited. While he dated countless other girls knowing that they were all totally wrong for him of course. Scheming gold diggers, popularity seekers, and just plain sluts! He had to experience the bad so that when he was hers he would know just how good he had it.

Through college she waited. Wild frat parties, girls with even more questionable morals than the ones he dated in high school and guys that were just as bad. These were the years for sowing wild oats. After college was when life really began and she would begin it with him.

She waited. Under the cherry blossom tree in the park she waited, and he came. He came and told her he was getting married and left.

She waited. She waited until she could reach her apartment to cry.

She cried.

She screamed.

She cursed.

She cried…again.

She broke.

That was many years ago.

Here now, on her wedding day it was he that was waiting for her. He waited for her to come down the aisle. He waited with bated breath for anyone to disapprove of their union. He waited for her to say “I Do”. He waited for the exchange of rings. He waited for the kiss. He waited for everything.

She was his. He was safe.

She waited. On her wedding night in the lovely bridal suite, she waited. In her chemise she bought specifically for this night, specifically for this person; she waited.

She waited for him to make her his.

She waited for the realization of her dreams.

She waited but he did not come.

She cried.

She screamed.

She cursed.

She cried…again.

She did not break.

She was done waiting.
