InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Kagome's Trip ❯ Rags To Riches! ( Chapter 2 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

The bus stopped at a loud “screech” and Kagome stood up out of her seat. Rain dropped from the sky as she hauled her suitcase of the bus. By now, her hair was already wet. The storm grew bigger and bigger until a loud boom of thunder was heard in the distance. Kagome stared as her jaw dropped instantly. She stared at the large house before her. Trees swung uncontrollably in the wind. They kept going back and forth, back and forth. Suddenly a woman all bundled up in a rain coat and an umbrella over her head came rushing out the door to greet Kagome. “Nice to meet you, Kagome!” The woman grumbled, “Come inside.” “Excuse me, do I know you?” Kagome rang out softly, “I thought I was going to see my relatives but I see that this is the wrong house.” Kagome spun around and looked down the street for a bus. The rain continued to drop but Kagome still remained to stand, shivering. “Well this is where they live.” The woman mentioned, “I am one of their many servants and maids.” “You mean… They're rich!” Kagome said. The maid nodded and led Kagome inside. The tall designed door opened, with another servant there to greet everyone. He wore a black tuxedo with a bow and tie. As he held out his hand which was wearing a pair of white gloves, Kagome smiled and shook hands. Suddenly a woman walked down the hallway, wearing a fancy red dress. Kagome squinted, “Aunt?” When she arrived far enough down the hallway to talk to Kagome she answered, “Yes. It's me.” Kagome could hardly tell it was her aunt because her relatives were always very poor and needy. But it looks like that Kagome was gone long enough that things really changed. The walls were painted dark green and fancy lights stuck out the wall. “I like your house, really!” Kagome brought up. “Yeah, yeah. Thanks but it gets REALLY annoying when people comment on our house, dear.” Kagome rolled her eyes and followed the maid down the hall to her room. A couple 100 rooms later the maid stopped. The biggest door stood in front of her. The maid breathed deeply and opened the door, “This will have to do.” She said as she opened the door. Kagome stepped in, amazed in the room's details. A crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling and a queen-sized bed was topped with frilly-edged pillows. “This will DO?” Kagome said, “This is perfect!” The maid nodded and left her current position in the doorway. Kagome dragged her suitcase over to the wooden dresser with golden rings playing as handles to open them. Kagome zipped open her red suitcase and glanced at all her belongings. One by one she took out all her shirts, folded and stuffed them in the top drawer, took her skirts and neatly fit them into the middle drawer and put her undergarments and socks at the bottom. Then a framed picture of her and her family stood in the way. She picked it up and made it stand up on the very top of the dresser.
“I couldn't be that long, can I?” Kagome asked herself with a blank look on her face. She was really tired from the bus ride, and she jumped on the bed. She cuddled up with one of the pillows and soon, she was fast asleep.
