Don't own them.

Mirror

Second born son of the Great Spirit beast

Pity the child, father's love known least.

Tormented and banished for tainted blood.

Driven forth from the ones who should have held true

Hatred and anger their only due.

Flip the mirror; know the pain

Beloved child of a daimyo's blood

Human mother, untainted love.

The only person to accept him thus.

Cast out at her death to survive or fall

Spirit unbroken, he'd show them all.

Flip the mirror; a childhood slain

Full blood brother in disdain seeks

To rid the world of the hanyou's reek

With malice unquenchable, he hunts

Where love should flourish, find only hate

With poison claw, brother's life to take.

Flip the mirror; survive the fight

Jewel of power, a lofty goal;

To steal its power and in strength grow.

Priestess, protectress, would you slay him, too?

A cat and mouse game, a cold heart thawing

Closer and closer to destiny drawing.

Flip the mirror, steal the light

An evil unrealized, a greed uncontained,

A perfect disguise be the hanyou's bane.

A fine line crossed to hatred from love,

Fair maiden who could not fully trust

Lost to a thief given into lust.

Flip the mirror; a heart betrayed

Swift steps in a forest; anguished lover's cry

Twang of holy arrows and, pinned thus, he dies.

With him dies the maiden, her heart in shadow.

A life hard lived with animosity's stain

Last loved one's arrow sees him slain.

Flip the mirror; in memory fade

Fifty year slumber, an unknowing sleep

For destiny's pawn no one will weep.

Awakened with hatred and death in his eyes

To a life or death fight

And a maiden's dire plight.

Crack the mirror; set it right

From future far distant the woman-child came

A lost jewel of power unknowingly claimed.

Waken the demon and set him free - "I choose to live! I will not die!"

Dissolve the arrow, take the risk

Heal the hearts that love has missed.

Shatter the mirror; embrace the light.

A/N: It's been a long time since I wrote poetry of any kind. I hope I haven't lost my touch. Hope this appeases until my other story behaves itself.

Until we meet again,
