Under the new moon,
looking at the world through eyes
violet, shadow-filled,
As his human heart beat swift
Touch was somehow more easy.
Her eyes would swallow
The words that he longed to say
His tongue tripping flat
In the glory of her smile,
So wordlessly he would talk.
Sometimes he let slip
The truth laying on his heart
Hidden under pride,
Warming himself in her fire,
This secret time between them.
