Prologue: A new Life

Somewhere in my wounded heart, I wanted to cry, but doing so in front of the people in the room would only make things worse. As the two women carried out the terms for the adoption in the small room, I eyed the woman whom I was going to be living with. She seemed kind and such with her short brown hair and warm chocolaty eyes, but I didn't know what to expect anymore. I wouldn't stay long, that I knew for sure.

I looked away from the woman and got lost in thought. After, what seemed like forever, the woman and the advisor both stood up and shook hands. Slowly the woman turned towards me and smiled warmly. My chest grew tight suddenly, and I recognized this feeling. I struggled for a breath of air and was able to stop the oncoming tears. Not now, I told myself, later, when I am all alone. This thought alone could not comfort me, for I repeatedly wished for comfort and understanding from the people around me, but it was never to be, or so I thought…

It was very awkward in the car as the new stranger brought me yet, to another home. The woman seemed lost in thought as she drove, leaving me to my thoughts alone as well. I dreaded what I would find in my `new home', yet a constant tugging of hope was always in me. Maybe this family is different, I would consistently tell myself, in the hopes that it could be true. I always wanted a warm, loving family who would accept me with loving arms, but it was a dream, never to come true. Just then the woman spoke, interrupting my thoughts.

“I hope you like it here. I have a daughter, whom I know you will be good friends with who is around your age, and a son who is 7 years old. When we get there, we will have to climb a long staircase to get there. Just to warn you, you will be exhausted and it will take time to get used to…” she trailed off. I couldn't shake the warm feeling I was getting. She seemed genuinely nice, and I struggled again to keep my emotions in check.

“That is nice,” was all I could simply say and the woman said nothing more. We finally arrived and I couldn't help but groan at what I saw. She was right. This was going to be long, I could tell. I didn't have much possession, in fact I was surprised I had any at all, but none-the-less, she parked the car and we headed up the stairs.

I couldn't help but curse once in a while as we walked up the stairs. I never liked them. Who was the idiot that invented stairs?

I seemed to make it in one piece and I couldn't help noticing how many times I tripped on the way up. I always was clumsy for some reason. It was probably genetic, seeming how I my mother was also clumsy…

“Well, we made it,” the woman sighed before continuing, “and this is our house. Follow me.” I hesitated before following. I couldn't help but notice the trees that surrounded us, making me feel trapped for some reason. It was beautiful, in it's own way, and as I observed the trees, I saw a hut, or a shrine as you can say, and a girl coming out. She was carrying this huge tan backpack and wearing a school uniform. She didn't seem to notice us at first, but when she did, she froze. The woman finally noticed her as well, and froze. Quickly she signaled the girl to come to her. The girl hastily did. I was sure she would have been able to reach us sooner if it weren't for that backpack, which I was sure would explode any minute now.

“H-Hello,” the girl stuttered, out of breathe. I couldn't help but admire how pretty she was. She had long dark hair with the same warm chocolaty eyes as her mother, yet hers were more brighter. She had a round, more narrow face than her mothers and a nervous smile was on her face.

“Kagome, this is Sanayo, the sweet girl whom I was telling you about,” her mother introduced. Kagome smiled brightly and dropped her bag on the ground, which made a loud thunk.

“My name is Kagome, as you know, and it is nice to finally meet you at last,” she said warmly, though I couldn't help but feel how uncomfortable it was for her to meet me. I ignored this and gave one of my fake smiles.

“This is my daughter, Kagome,” her mother clarified. I faked a smile again before answering.

“Nice to meet you Kagome.” The woman smiled before ushering us both into the house. Kagome and I both hesitated before moving. As we went in, I couldn't help but notice how homely it was and how happy it felt here. I couldn't help feeling something else, something different and powerful, but I pushed this aside as the woman led me up the stairs.

“This here will be your room Sayano and it is next to Kagome's. I already made your bed for you. You can drop your stuff anywhere you want. I will give you some time to be by yourself.” she spoke softly before leaving me alone. I closed the door and just stood there in the middle of the room. As soon as I knew I was alone, I cried softly to myself…

Whew! Prologue FINALLY finished. Well, I hope you liked it. I will be updating chapter 1 soon ( I hope) but for now I want you to know a little about me.

This will be my second story I will have posted here. Sadly, I had another account, but I couldn't remember my password, and my dad took away my email, so I can never be able to log in there ever again… -sniff-

Oh well, none the less, I just want to say that you can put whatever review down that you want, whether it is sweet or down right nasty (but for petes sake, don't cuss or say anything crude). Other than that, I am happy to take any advice.
As you are probably wondering, Sesshoumaru will somewhat appear in the next chapter but I am pretty sure that he will appear in Chapter 2, so do not fear, he will come soon my sesshoumaru fans! =)
