Chapter 1

The sound of an alarm clock going off was the only sound that greeted the tan blond boy that morning as he groggily sat up in his bed. He briefly stretched and yawned as he sluggishly climbed out of bed to get ready for school. He changed into some clean clothes, having taken a shower the night before and headed to the bathroom to brush his teeth, and possibly try to tame his golden locks. Once in the bathroom, he examined himself closely in the mirror, noting that he would have to put some foundation over the vivid bruise the boy sported on his right temple, courteously of his father and one of his mother’s vodka bottles. He sighed and proceeded to get ready for the long day ahead.
Downstairs, Naruto made himself some breakfast, consisting of toast and butter. Since his family didn’t have a lot of money, they had to get by on what they could get. Naruto did help out as much as his could with his part time job at MacDonald’s, but even that wasn’t helping very much. He really hoped his parents wouldn’t wake up before he left for school. The last thing he needed was a confrontation and a possible matching bruise. His father wasn’t the only one that could hit. Although his mother usually didn’t hit him, unless she was drunk; this was pretty much a good half of the day and entirety of the night. Sometimes she would disappear for hours at a time, heading off to bars and partying her ass off. In Naruto’s opinion, she was way too old to be doing that sort of thing. She was like, what, forty seven by now? Luckily he made it out of his run down trailer home without any incident and made his way to school. He didn’t have his license yet, so he just walked; which was alright with him, because he was able to pass by his best friend’s house and walk to school with him. He had to admit he did have a bit of a crush on him, but he would never, ever admit that to anyone. Being gay and living in Birmingham Alabama was not a very good combination. He soon approached the large two story house that was his best friend’s own kind of hell and saw the said boy walk down his front steps to meet Naruto on the sidewalk. “Hey Sasuke.” Naruto waved happily as he saw his friend approach.

Sasuke woke up to a very disturbing feeling. A wet tongue sliding its way down his neck. He tried to move away but found that he was being held in place by strong arms and he figured, since his Uncle Madara wouldn’t dare touch him, unless it was a beating, it was probably his older brother Itachi. He tried once more to remove himself from Itachi’s arms but failed once again, receiving an amused chuckle for his efforts. “Itachi, stop it, it’s too early.” He usually didn’t mind his brother having his wicket way with him once in a while, but sometimes, his morality and conscience would rear its ugly head at him and he would be overwhelmed with a sense of wrongness that left an awful taste in his mouth. “Is Madara mad at you again?” he asked, knowing that he hit the winner when his brother stiffened a bit.
Itachi finally let go of Sasuke with one more departing lick to the younger boy’s neck. He glared down at his little brother. “You know that he’s mad at me. I stopped him from beating your ass to a bloody pulp last night. You should be grateful that I’m willing to save your ass.” he said as he got off the bed and casually walked around Sasuke’s room. “So where were you anyway? You never miss curfew.”
Sasuke got out of bed himself and put a tee shirt on before heading over to the bathroom to take his shower. “I don’t need to tell you where I go.” he said defiantly as he shut the door in Itachi’s face and proceeded to take a nice long shower. He didn’t want to tell his brother where he was the other night, because frankly, he didn’t want to see the disappointed look on his Aniki’s face. His brother was everything to him; he looked up to Itachi and wanted nothing more than to have his praise and approval. Not to mention, the sex wasn’t too bad either. Sasuke had been out, on a school night at a party, doing everything imaginable that a boy of fifteen shouldn’t be doing. He drank; he did some drugs he had some awful sex. Really though, the girl he hooked up with wasn’t even good, she seemed to like it though, so he guessed that counted for something. In all honesty, he hated girls, with a passion. He was homosexual through and through, but he had to keep up appearances after all. He was the “IT” boy in his school. The one that every girl wanted and the one that every guy either wanted to be, or wanted to kill. Every boy that is, except one; the one boy that he called his best friend, and secretly called his love interest; Naruto Uzumaki. He decided to get out of the shower, before thoughts of Naruto got out of control, which usually tended to happen in the shower; go figure. He shut the water off and wrapped a towel around his slim hips, exiting the bathroom to get dressed. He was surprised to see his brother still there waiting for him. “You’re still here?”
Itachi just gave Sasuke a half hearted glare and sighed in defeat. “Just tell me where you were Sasu, I promise I won’t tell Madara. I just worry about you sometimes.” It was the truth. He knew his brother was into some crazy shit, and frankly, some of it scared Itachi more than anything else. The thought of life without Sasuke was just too scary to think about, and with the way Sasuke was doing things, he was on a quick road to self destruction.
Sasuke heaved a reluctant sigh and turned away from Itachi, getting some clothes to wear. “I went to a party…need I go on?” Itachi knew exactly what went on at a party that Sasuke attended, so he figured his brother would get it.
Itachi stood up and carefully approached his brother. “What did you take? Were you carful at least?” Sasuke was going to do what he wanted. Since it was only the two brothers and their uncle in the house, Sasuke had pretty much free reign. That is until Madara found out. Itachi had a bit of influence over his uncle, considering the fact that Madara had taken a pretty quick liking to Itachi, which consisted of having him in his bed nightly; so Itachi was pretty good at getting Sasuke out of jams.
The youngest Uchiha turned to finally look at Itachi, dreading what he would see. He was right. Right there in front of him was that disappointed look that Sasuke was dreading. “Nothing too heavy, just some weed and coke.” In his opinion, those were extremely mild for him; he had done much worse in his short life.
Itachi narrowed his eyes and then let himself relax a bit; he couldn’t fly off the handle at Sasuke. He was supposed to be the supporting older brother after all. But how could he do that when his little baby brother was ruining his life? He faintly noticed Sasuke heading out the door and quickly followed to deliver his parting words. “Just, please, try not to do anything stupid.” That was his departing phrase everyday to Sasuke, and he hoped that one day, his brother would actually listen.
Sasuke just waved dismissively and headed out the front door. Itachi really grated on his nerves sometimes, but he knew his brother was just looking out for him. He would do the same if their positions were reversed. He picked his head up as he heard the familiar sweet voice of the one boy that he held closest to him, right there next to his brother; Naruto. The beautiful blond haired boy that Sasuke adored to no end. He nonchalantly waved back to Naruto and headed down the steps to the sidewalk where his best friend was standing. He noticed, not for the first time, that they were like total opposites. Not only in their personalities, but in their looks as well. While Naruto was tall, slightly muscular, vivid blue eyes, tan and blond; Sasuke was a vivid contrast of black hair, dark, dark brown eyes, a very petite and lithe build and white almost sheer skin. Their personalities were equally as different. Sasuke was the quiet pensive, almost brooding of the two; whereas Naruto was loud, obnoxious and in Sasuke’s opinion, a complete idiot. “Hey Naruto.” Despite the attempt to hide it with makeup, Sasuke noticed right away, the bruise that marred the other boy’s face. He knew all about Naruto’s parents and home life. They had confided in each other one night at a party in their freshman year, which in consequence, happened to be the when they became actual friends. “Does it hurt?” he asked gently as he examined the bruise with his perfect vision.
Naruto winced as he realized that Sasuke saw right through his make-up. “It’s not so bad anymore. It hurt like a bitch last night. We should get going, or we’ll be late.” Naruto said as he started a fast pace walk, wanting to drop the subject of his fucked up family.
Sasuke just nodded and walked alongside the blond. “So, there’s a party this Saturday at Sakura’s, want to go?” he asked conversationally. He loved parties even more when Naruto was with him, he could be just as crazy as Sasuke sometimes.
Naruto’s face lit up at the prospect of a good time and a way to forget for a while. “Sure! What time?”
Sasuke chuckled at Naruto’s excitement. “It starts at ten, but I’m sure she won’t mind if we show up a bit early, since we are her friends and all. Besides, here parents are out of town.” They had been friends with Sakura since their freshman year in high school and she was extremely close to the two boys. The three of them were always together; always doing something. Whether it be studying, which was rare, or partying.
Naruto smiled and nodded. “Cool, we haven’t hung out in a while. You know the three of us.” He missed hanging out with Sakura. The girl had been extremely busy lately with all of her pageant preparations. Yes, Sakura was a pageant girl. Her mother was one of those scary chicks that could make you turn tail and run form a mile away.
Sasuke nodded in agreement. They reached the gates of their school just in time and headed in the direction of their first class. Seeing Naruto had really lifted Sasuke’s spirits and he was in a better mood. Hopefully it would stay that way.
Naruto sat down in his seat in between Sasuke and Sakura. He smiled at the pink haired girl who waved at the two boys and dutifully took out her notebook. Naruto sighed and opened his textbook as the teacher walked in. The day had started out like shit, but it was already looking up for the blond.

Alright!!! I was wanting to start this story for a while. I thought of this plot from a conversation me and my friend were having on “What if Naruto was a redneck?” Well, for lack of a better word. I actually had another word in mind, but I don’t want to offend anyone. So yeah…Let me know what you think!!
