Chapter 1: The mission
It was half past eleven, Gaara was walking down the dark, dusty streets of the hidden sand village, wondering why he received
a call from the kazekage.
'What could those fools want from me now', Gaara wondered thinking of when he was still at home.
-flashback-
"Gaara are you in here?", asked a female voice
"I'm in here Temari.", answered Gaara trying to control his anger. He was on the roof of their house stargazing and Temari had
just interrupted Gaara's train of thought.
"Here I thought some coffee might help ward off the fatigue of not being able to sleep."Temari said as she joined Gaara and
handed him a mug of hot coffee.
"Thanks Temari" Gaara said his anger replaced by gratitude. His view of life gradually started to change after the battle in
konoha and after facing "Uzumaki Naruto".
"No prob" said Temari smiling noticing the change in her brother's change in attitude and she noted that the ominous
atmosphere her brother gave of had lightened.
"Kankuro is still working on karasu I suppose?", asked Gaara though he knew the answer.
"Yeah, he said he needs some improvement since he lost to that bug guy in konoha", Temaricanswered.
"Hey Gaara you got call from the kazekage!" shouted a voice which clearly belonged to Kankuro.
-flashback end-
"Must be some plan to assassinate me", Gaara muttered to himself
He was nearing the kazekage's home when 4 sand jounins appeared
"Thank you God", said one of the jounin to himself
Gaara heard him and asked, "hm? Why are you so relieved?"
"I-it's n-n-nothing", said the jounin
"It's just that you didn't kill us on sight is all", said another jounin whom the other jounins thought brave for answering
in a rude and straight manner.
"you're not worth my effort", answered Gaara monotonously
They had reached the kazekage's home though dirty and ragged it was still considered the most luxurious in all of the village.
They were greeted by another sand jounin
"Come in! The kazekage has been waiting", said the sand-nin ushering them in
They entered the kazekage's personal chambers and as usual the kazekage himself was veiled
"What do you want?", demanded Gaara folding his arms.
"I'll ignore your insolence for now. Anyway I did not call you for idle chitchat I called you because I want to give you a
mission. I want you to investigate the mysteriuos disappearances of 21 jounins in the desert", said the kazekage.
"My team will get right on it", said Gaara turning his back to the kazekage
"You must be mistaken this mission is for you only I cannot send anyone else for our ranks have weakened after the siege on
konoha", explained the kazekage
"So? its my team.", said Gaara coldly his eyes narrowing in annoyance
"No I will not allow you to take anyone from this village with you", shouted the kazekage in anger
Gaara thought for a moment then finally spoke,"Fine"
"Glad you saw it our way", answered the kazekage
"but I will have to ask you to get in touch konoha since my country men won't help me I want the one person in konoha whom I
can trust and that person is Uzumaki Naruto."
