Epilogue

 

“Kitsune! Dinner's ready! Tokeru made rolls and white rice!”

 

I looked back to the tavern, ears twitching and ran in, eager to eat something. I went inside to see Suki and Jen sitting at the table and Kiyoshi and Kuni in high chairs. I ruffled the hair on their heads with my hands, smiling. Jen was looking as beautiful as ever without her baby belly. Suki smiled at us, happy for us. Tokeru was still taking care of things in the kitchen.

“Hey, Tokeru! I hope you made a meal for yourself because there's an extra seat!” I called after him. He came from behind the counter, sitting at the table with us. I raised my cup of sake and got up from my seat.

“I would like to dedicate this drink to my wife, who has been with me all this time, and my two beloved children, who are most important to me, as well as my cook Tokeru, who created this delicious meal for us, and to Suki, who is a valuable part of my team. To everyone who sits at this table now, I raise my cup.”
