Liquid Drops

April showers,
They bring May flowers
Mountains hide again today

Streets shine back black

Watch the dirt turn red
But bring no new flowers
Another year in drought
Adds to suffering of the low millions

Brake-lights glow a warning red

Thunder rolls too early in the year
And lightning cracks
Illuminating once non existent mountains
Black storms fade grey

Skid marks left on wet pavement

What's left to lose?
When flowers fall
To only rest next to a headstone

Liquid red runs on black

Mountains forever remain
In a haze of black and grey
Reminders of what happened
When April showers came

Never say goodbye

As liquid drops fall
