Ballad

Numbers roll around in her head
As the clock reads early hour sleeplessness
Listen as the Ballad of Death plays through the room

Look at all of her achievements she's made
Hanging on the walls and sitting on wooden shelves
Bookcases lined with false happiness
Tales of fulfillment from A to Z
Trying to escape her reality

Three years past, her fate set in stone
She listens as the violin plays one last solo
Before her soul is taken down in grief and guilt
A trumpet wails in triumph, then tragedy

There, her life has been found
Stained on the sheets and pooling on the floor
Darkness takes her as she is

With one last breath she faces her match
The final battle has begun
Now listen as the symphony cries out loud
Its conductor fading away in the darkness
As the Ballad of Death still plays
