Chapter 5: School

Renae had spent the first whole week learning routes and food stores. And compared to home, it was very… very confusing. School was a far way, and even though Yuki may have his license for both a motor bike and his mom's car, she doubted he'd take kind in offering her a ride. So she'd end up walking, though she didn't like being cooped up in a car anyway.

Renae woke up on Monday morning to the loud and obnoxious sound of the alarm clock, four- thirty in the morning. Groggily she reached from under the thick lavender covers that she had grown use to. She reached around and searched for the damn evil clock and as she picked it up, it automatically shut off, but she didn't stop there.

The door opened, Yuki coming to check on her, “Renae… you up…. YIKES!” He said as he ducked the clock she threw at the door as she buried back under the warmth of her covers.

Yuki looked at the damaged wall that the clock had hit noting that it did not leave a mark, but now the clock had a crack on the screen and would need to be reset again. Then rubbed his head, having feeling the clock barely scraping his head as it flew by. Bringing his gaze from the wall to her bad, and shook his head, walking over to it and gently grabbing the edge of the blanket and lifting it up to see her face.

Her cheeks red from the heat and pressure she applied against the lavender and white colored pillow cases. Her lips slightly parted and her breath was easy.

`I don't believe it.' He thought, `She fell right back to sleep in no time.'

He kneeled down so he was eye level with her, the bedspread still in his gentle grasp as he raised it up higher, letting in what ever light there was this early, and the cold under. She pinched her eyes and shifted but did not wake, merely slipping her hand behind the pillow and turning her face over away from him and back into the comfort of the darkness that blanket had provided, moaning loud enough for him to hear.

This was becoming fun, and he smirked, and blew upward into his bangs, moving them slightly. He ran his fingers through his hair, all the way down to his shoulders, feeling his hair fall right back into place.

Her back was bare, due to the tank top she had worn to bed. Giving him an idea. He reached out and placed his hand against her heated skin.

She shrieked at the coldness that he presented her. And she jumped out of bed tossing the covers over his head, bad idea, when she realized that only more cold hit her skin, “Damn it, Yuki!”

He was still holding the blanket in one hand and taking it off his head with the other, and was laughing, “It ain't funny. What did you do, stick ice on my back?” She asked as she rubbed the numb area. Totally unaware of her state of undress.

Yuki just held up his hand, letting her now that there was nothing there. Her jaw dropped and then clenched it.

“I should kill you, damn you.” She hissed.

He was still smirking, “Wipe that damn smirk off your face, or I'll do it for you.” She hissed again showing her claw like hand. Her nails were long and sharp, just as she always filed them. She liked it better that way, just in case off some one trying to ambush her when she was off guard.

Yuki stood up and looked away from her. Removing the large shirt he had on and extending is arm to her. She looked at it with sleepy and confused eyes, and then looked at him. He urged his head down to her body, merely dressed in a light blue baby tee tank top and a pair of red boy shorts. She gasped and took his soft black shirt slipping it on and watched him leave.

The shirt was still warm from his body and as she pulled it over her head, his scent rushed through her nose, not smelling like every other guy would, no cologne or deodorant or body spray or even after shave or something else that would irritate her senses, but his natural scent. Almost like the spring water and the summer forest. It was calming to her, and the warmth of it just intensified the smell.

But she knew she couldn't all day, she grabbed her bath materials that sat in a bucket by the door and a towel. Leaving the shirt on as she walked through the house. Since part of the house was still asleep, she really didn't mind.

The bathroom itself was nice, a lot bigger than the one that was in her room back home. The tub was big enough to fit two maybe three. Two sinks sat on the counter top, telling that this was the bathroom that was used the most.

Now the shower she loved the most. A high sprinkler on the ceiling and a bench with some nice soaps and gentle fragranced body washes that sat on one side. The painting of iris and Japanese cherry blossoms were painted on with bright exhilarant colors against the white and faded blue tiles behind the clear glass door.

Renae shredded the clothing piece by piece, till she stood naked in front of the shower. Setting the water just how she liked it, and occasionally checking the temperature, she then stepped into the steam and let the water roll over her delicate skin.

She really needed this, with life just now adjusting to her, every thing was falling into place, including the knots that had formed on her back. Renae brought up her hands and messaged what she could reach. Releasing the muscles that she hit.

~~

Yuki was always up early, but with the girl sleeping across the hall from him, and her actions through the week had confused him. She had those times when she embarrassed the hell out of him, purposely of course.

Well, she was more to her self than he expected. And while he had shown her the streets that she would be walking along, she had kept a straight face but eyes were filled with interest and curiosity. So she wasn't bored, but by the way she walked and stood, she was only uncomfortable.

They ran into Takeshi and Haruka coming out of the movies after a movie, and Renae and Haruka had bonded so quickly, becoming very good friends very fast. So the very least she won't be alone at school, and she had someone to show her around and gain more friends this way, and he really didn't have the time to baby-sit.

But he was worried about Renae running into Sam. He had no idea what to expect if the time ever came. Renae had promised him that she would do no harm and say nothing so long as Sam did the same in return. Yuki found this hard to believe, but Renae did say that she took her word very seriously, and would keep it.

So he doesn't have a choice but to do just that.

The nights were not easy to sleep, so used to hearing the sounds in the night when Hana would get up in the middle of the night and do something, whether it be getting something to eat or going to the bathroom.

He chuckled to himself when he realized that he missed his sister, remembering that she had told him that he'd miss her, one way or the other.

Well, she was right, and Renae isn't a good replacement for her. She slept soundly and peacefully, did not stir and did not snore, well that he was happy for.

So here he was, still rubbing his head, and coming down the stairs. Back bared against the cold air inside the house, and headed into the kitchen. He grabbed two bowls and cups and cooked breakfast for him self and Renae.

Two egg omelets and orange juice.

The minute he had finished, Renae came down the stair case, wearing his school uniform and she was tying her dark chocolate hair in a tight ponytail on the top of her head. At the bottom of the case, she slipped on a pair of slippers, protecting her feet from the harsh winter morning against the hard wood floor in the hall.

Renae looked into the kitchen, seeing Yuki at the stove, wearing his school uniform. His was a black shirt with a white line down the button line and matching pants. She finished tying her hair and walked over to his side. Resting her elbows on the counter top and watching him use the chopsticks to stir the eggs and set them in the frying pan. He gazed at her from the corner of his eyes, and smiled slightly, bringing his attention back to the eggs. Renae blinked in curiosity, he was missing something. She walked over to the fridge close by and rummaged through, pulling out the cheese, some potatoes and of course her favorite, ham deli meat.

She had to work fast and started chopping next to him. Starting with the ham, and crumbling up the potatoes they had for dinner just a few nights prior. Reaching over him and setting it in, he looked back at her with a quirked eyebrow, but couldn't help but smile, as he pulled her arm that stretched over him and pulled her in front of him. A small gasp coming from her lips, “You wanna take over?” He asked, as he started to walk away.

Renae scratched behind her head and shuffled her feet and blushed, “Um… he he… that may not be the best thing to do.” She mumbled.

“Why do you say that?” He asked.

“Eh he he...” She looked away and scratched her head again, “I can't cook.”

Yuki's jaw dropped. He could have sworn every girl knew how to cook, “You're kiddin' right?”

She looked down in shame and shook her skull. He sighed, “You really are hopeless.” He said as he stood behind her, “It's basically common sense.” He finished as he set a large hand over her pretty far behind sized, and showed her what to do.

Once he was behind her, Yuki realized how small she was with him. Sure she was tall, and had a full body, but to his eyes she was scrawny as hell. Sure, Sam was much smaller than Renae, but she was deathly too small which was why he didn't worry if they ever confronted each other. Much shorter than the girl in front of him, and never ate. A toothpick is what his friends described her as. But, it was the men that she hung with, which were twice even his own size.

Renae was, tall, thin but full, strong and confident. But he only knew her for a week or so, and was not going to do any thing that would endanger himself.

He showed her what was right and wrong. She seemed to catch on pretty quickly, and soon enough her short lesson was done, and their meal was ready.

Both sitting at the table, and sending a prayer for Renae's good job, and dug in.

Renae was having complications with her chopsticks and kept losing her food. One piece flicked across the table and landed in Yuki's face.

She looked and tried to suppress a giggle, but couldn't contain and broke out into a full blow laugh. As Yuki was wiping his face of the egg, he couldn't help but smile softly and chuckle.

Renae was paying no attention to him now, thinking of getting her back, he picked up his pair of chopsticks and stuck it in his eggs, and flung it at her.

Renae immediately stopped laughing and blinked through the eggs. A surprised look behind the yellow substance. Her short eyelashes doing little to remove the food. Now was his turn to weaken the defenses around his heart, and he started laughing as well from the look she gave him.

She narrowed her eyes at him, playfully. Something about her, made him full… comfortable. Renae stood from her spot on the table and walked over to him, slamming his face into his plate, full of eggs.

He murmured something to her, and Renae couldn't help but laugh, full heartedly, not just a simple giggle like she let escape her orifice. She ended up on the floor her arms wrapping up around her waist, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Lifting his head out of the eggs, he looked down at her. This was the happiest he had seen her so far. And that, for some reason, made him happy as well.
She looked up at him; as he extended a hand down to offer her help getting up. Which she took, with little hesitation. He pulled her close, a little too close for him. Yuki mirrored her face once the contact of bodies met. Though neither pulled away, both very unsure of what to do. Move away or allow the feeling that they both enjoyed to continue.

This way, Yuki saw emotions in her eyes, a brilliant amber colored today, soon the green will return. Both of his hands were on her back, feeling every curve she had. Which, by the clothed she had been wearing all this week, had hidden. With the uniform she had, they only showed, especially her legs.

Renae noticed that he still had egg on his face, so she leaned her head back, and grabbed a white napkin on the table, and started wiping the provisions from his easy features. His skin was smooth, free from any facial hair. The only things that seemed to interrupt the even flesh, was the scar on his neck that traveled up mid way to his cheek.

Yuki allowed her finger tips to stroke the scar. As he did the say, she froze and looked up at him. Something about him was drawing her close… and it soothed her. And Renae would admit she was scared of it.

She quickly moved away from him and looked at the door, “W… we should…. um… should be getting to class.” She said as she made her way to the door. Slipping off her slippers and putting on the Mary Jane's mama Himeno had given her, then grabbing the black handle of the brown leather handheld bag that sat by the door.

Yuki just looked at her back, and did the same, and followed her outside.

Renae stood at the top of the stair case, looking at the oncoming sunrise that could be easily seen from her place. Her hands folded in front of her grasping the handle of the bag she held. Her hair, still tied up, even when she woke up, lifted with the morning breeze. Lifting the hem of her skirt a bit, the now aqua green boy shorts she wore underneath completely visible to his eyes and the curve of her rear from under it. He tended to ignore it as he walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Wait at the bottom of the staircase; I'll give you a ride to school.” He said as he started walking down. Renae somewhat ran to his side, carefully minding the steps to the bottom, where he offered her a smirk and headed over to the garage over to the side.

He disappeared for a few minutes, and came back carrying two helmets, giving her both before returning back. Coming back another minute later with a black and red Suzuki GX 400.

She blinked, “Mom took the car, so this will have to do.” He said when he saw her confused look.

Renae had never ridden on a motor bike before, but she wasn't stupid enough that she'd fall off. Yuki got on the bike and extended his hand for his helmet. His matched the bike and the other one was black and blue. She passed him the black and red, and watched him set it over his head and strap it on under his chin. Scooting up just a bit so that there was enough room for her to sit, Renae climbed up and sat side saddle, considering she was in a very short skirt, this maybe the best way to sit. Uncomfortable, yes, but there was no way in hell that she was going to sit normally in this get up.

He waited till she was comfortable before starting up the loud motor. Renae slipped her arms around his torso and he took off, taking it slow at first. Allowing her to get used to the feeling. Coming onto the main street, he turned the blinkers on and waited to turn. Once he got his chance he took off, surprising Renae and causing her to grasp him harder than necessary.

This was her first day at school, and even through the heavy helmet she could still hear him say, “Please don't start anything today. Including with Sam. Onegai?”

”First of all, what's `Onegai'? Second, I wont start any thing but if she starts something, then I promise nothing.” She said loud enough for him to hear her over the roar of traffic.

He chuckled, “Onegai, means please.” He said and felt her nod her head in understandment.

The streets were cramped and full of people, once reaching the city limits. The sound of the trains whizzing by and the many smells made Renae's head pound between her temples.

“Lean inward.” She heard Yuki say as they came to a corner. Leaning inward just as she was told, they made it easily. A few more turns and she started feeling nauseous.

The bike slowed at pair of large iron gates. `Hokkaido High' read the sign in two lines on the side of the brick wall next to the gates in kanji above and English below. Now the school itself was huge, but the students, there were more of. Renae removed the helmet and looked around. Every one looked the same here, most looked the same, black hair and small eyes. Others had unusual colors, like blue streaks or wild other colors, that was pretty cool though.

Yuki grabbed the helmet from her and walked over to the garage that the faculty supplied for the students, coming back a minute later, “Come on, we better get to class.” He said as she walked along side him.

“I still can't believe your mom put us in the same classes.” Renae whispered, allowing her hand bag to bounce gently against her knees. Occasionally letting go with one hand to rake it through the loose tresses she felt along side her face.

Doing her best to ignore the stares that she was given by all the girls and some of the guys. She could hear some of the whispers, `He never gave Sam a ride on the bike?', `Who the hell does she think she is?', `Sam's gonna kill her, I wanna watch.' Ok that last one she heard made her laugh a bit. These people were not as bad as home was. Living close to the ghetto and all.

Yuki looked at her with one eye, carrying his bag over his shoulder, “Feh, don't matter why she did it. She just wants to make sure that you stay safe.”

”And I'm supposed to be around you?” She joked.

“Oh, ha ha, very funny.”

Stepping into the courtyard, the sound of the bell with its three different dings reminded Renae of a grandfather clock on the hour. She followed Yuki to their first class. Noting that Haruka, Sei and Takeshi were there too.

“Renae, here I saved you a seat.” Haruka said as she waved her arms up to get Renae's attention.

Renae couldn't help but smile as she moved through the people that were standing up talking to their friends that were sitting down to make her way to her reserved spot.

“Morning.” She said sleepily, a yawn present right after.

“I see you're still tired.” Haruka said as she propped her elbows on the desk and rested her chin on her folded hands.

Renae smirked as she lay on arm on the desk and shoved the other on her cheek, “Hell, I've never woke up at four- thirty in the morning before.”

Her friend laughed softly, “You'll get used to it.” She said.

“Feh, this is not what I signed up for.” She groaned as her head sunk even further onto the desk.

Her friend just smiled at her, reaching down to stroke the hair that was tied tightly on the top of Renae's head. Starting from the scalp all the way down the soft chocolate colored mane. Surprisingly, Renae started growling deeply within her throat almost like a purr. Haruka thought that was only possible for men to do it, but this girl proved her wrong. Haruka smiled at her friend, she obviously liked it.

The bell rang, scaring Haruka, but no damage, not even a flinch in Renae's expense. She fluttered her eyes open and looked up to the chalkboard, silently praying that she was far enough away from the board so that the dust would not affect her. With her having a really sensitive sense of smell, it would irritate her terribly.

The teacher came in and the entire class stood up, Renae was slightly confused, before she felt a light pressure on her shoulder. Haruka's way of telling her to get up. A young woman, practically in her late twenties stepped in. Wearing a blue skirt that was slightly longer than the school uniforms and a white dress shirt, and thick black rimmed glasses a top the bridge of her nose. Her face was kind and gentle, and as she spotted Renae next to her star pupils she smiled and deemed that was a good spot for her, for the time being.

“Good morning class.” She said as she placed her books and bag on her desk.

“Good morning, Ms. Higashi.” The whole class replied as they took their seat as she faced them.

“Well, it seems that our new student has finally arrived.” She said, happily and cheerfully.

“Hai, Higashi - sensei, she just arrived over the winter break.” Yuki said to Renae's left.

She was surrounded by people she knew. Yuki to her left, Haruka to her right, Sei in front of her and Takeshi behind her, she felt comfortable around them.

She nodded in understandment. “Please stand in front of the class and introduce yourself dear.” She said as she waved her hand to the side.

Renae was much too tired to argue, so she stood and walked to the front.

`Freak.' She heard one boy say under his breath.

“What was that?” She glared at the boy those words spewed from. The boy flinched, `She heard me?' He asked himself.

The teacher had a worried look on her, `Please don't let her be one to start fights.' She prayed.

She sighed softly when Renae walked away from the boy. Behind her thick rimmed glasses she knew very well that he was a trouble maker, and wouldn't blame the new girl for punching him in the face. She seemed to keep her cool, which was rare in Americans. Or maybe that was just the other girl.

Renae finally reached the front of the class, keeping her stern face in place as she looked to them.

“Please welcome Renae Tulsa. She is a guest with in the Himeno household as you have heard.” The teacher said, “Please show her respect as you do everyone else here.”

'Just don't expect it in return.' Renae thought, knowing better than to let her guard down. She bowed and smiled, no she smirked.

One student raised his hand, “So what state you from?” He asked.

“A small town, along the border of California and Arizona.” She replied, setting a hand on her hip.

“What's up with the scars?” A girl said. Keeping a steady gaze on Renae from behind her thin glasses.

Renae flinched inward, and did not answer, “I refuse to answer that question.” She said as she lowered her head and looked out the window to her left, beyond the teacher.

“Let's all ask question relating not to her appearance please.” Ms. Higashi had asked, bringing her hands in front of her face in a prayer like way.

“So Hana is taking your place right?” Another girl asked.

“Yes she is.”

The class had fallen silent now, all questions answered. The teacher spoke up once more, “Well, now that we have cleared the air, you may go ahead and take your seat. Class I will now take attendance.”

She read off the roster that she held in a blue folder in her hand and a pencil in the other, reading off the names by first last name then first.

“Ritsuma, Hitomi.”

“Here.”

“Tainion, Kyo.”
“Here.”

“Tamashi, Emi.”

“Here.”

“Tulsa, Renae, yes I know you're here.”

“Vernice, Samantha.”

Silence.

“Vernice, Samantha.” She called again. Silence.

Ms. Higashi sighed and scribbled on the clip board in her hand, “What a surprise, she's late even on the first day of the new term.”

”How does she know that she just isn't coming?” Renae whispered over to Haruka.

“Samantha was always late, in fact, if I'm right she should be here… right… about… now.”

At that the door slammed open reveling a girl with large blonde hair and a large set of breasts. Her school uniform was the same as everyone else's, but her's was slightly altered. Her skirt was shorter and her top was a lower cut, showing as much cleavage as she could. Her face was smothered with make up. Red lipstick, really solid green eye shadow and a deep red blush color on her cheeks.

Ms. Higashi shook her head but never lifted her head to know that it was Samantha who had walked in, “Samantha, late.”

”I'm here aren't I?” She said with a snotty attitude as she placed a delicate hand on her hip, pushing it out adding more of a figure, not only that but doing very little in hiding the black thong she wore underneath her skirt.

`Slut.' Was the first thing that slipped into Renae's mind. She had dealt with them back home, but very rarely.

Ms. Higashi just went on with her roll calling.

`If this was his ex, how the hell did Yuki put up with her when they were together? She's practically begging to be taken here and now, in front of him no less.' Renae thought as Samantha made her way across the room.

Samantha stepped with bounce in her step, Renae watched from the corner of her eye as she slowed by every guy in her path, as they reached down and under her already short skirt and would either rub her ass, or further between her legs. A slow low moan would escape her deep rose colored lips. So imagine her look when she walked over to Renae's desk.

“Umm, excuse me… who the hell are you?” Samantha looked down at her with her head cocked and eyes with a stupid expression. Her purse dangling from under her arm.

“Renae.” She replied as she straightened her poster.

“Well, what ever your name is, you can move from my seat now. Thanks for warming it up for me.”

”And what the hell makes you think I'm gonna move for the likes of you?” Renae kept her expression straight.

The flaxen bimbo scoffed, “Do you know who I am?”

”Um, an annoying pain in the ass?” Renae lifted her hand and stuck it under her chin again as she said this. The class and Ms, Higashi went silent. Haruka and Yuki as well as Takeshi and Sei, jaws dropped.

She scoffed again and started to whine, “Ms. Higashi, make her move.”
“She was there first.” Ms. Higashi said as she folded her arms and leaned against her desk.

“But, Ms. Higashi.” She whined, “My boyfriend…” She pointed to Yuki accentuating her point, before Ms. Higashi interrupted.

Ms. Higashi looked at Yuki, but he merely folded his arms, scoffed and looked away. She sighed and dragged her eyes back to the stubborn girl.

”I don't care. It is none of my concern whether you sit next to him or not. She was here and you were not.” She practically yelled, “Now find another seat.”

Samantha gave Renae a snotty look, but she just smiled with victory and waved her good bye as she walked her way to the other side of the room.

Ms. Higashi sighed and turned to the board, starting the day's lesson.

Haruka leaned over and whispered, “No one has ever stood up to her like that. “She said, “I think I love you.”

Renae chuckled as she looked over to her friend, but quickly stopped as she looked over her shoulder slightly, `Eye's. But who's?'

She could feel someone's eyes digging into her head. She looked over and Samantha was throwing dirty looks at her. Not like she cared, she knew who had won and who had lost.
