Slowly, very cautiously, a pair of crystal blue eyes opened to stare into nothing but green. Bubbles lifted in front of those eyes, and as they look from left to right, the young man who owned those eyes became frightened. He looked down at himself, feeling something attached to his arms, legs, neck and chest. All that covered his pale body was shorts. And there was something on his mouth that helped him breathe in the green liquid. He could barely hear a high pitch bell ringing, and people's voices.
“He's….wa….Empty!” Was all he could make out from the mouth of a woman by the tube he was being held in.
“O…ay!” Another voice yelled back, and he guessed it meant `Okay!' The next thing that his mind could recall, the green was fading from his vision, and he hung limply in the tube with his white hair sticking to his face. His body was pressed against the glass, the wires holding him firmly. Then the wires disconnected from his body and dropped him on to the cold metal below him. The mask popped off of his lips and nose and he found himself gasping for the air around him. Smoke pushed from both inside and outside of the tube, and a door opened. A tall man, his muscles showing perfectly through his lab coat. The man looked back at the woman, as if to ask to pick him up. The woman nodded.
“Okay, kid, up ya' go.” He said in a deep voice that seemed forever angry. He picked Fero up easily and carried him to a table made of metal. It hurt his eyes to look at, so he looked at the older man's face. There the young man was laid and looked over. He noticed, on the far wall, a cage and a locker. Inside the cage was his faithful friend, his familiar, Hiroku. The black panther was awake and staring at Fero.
“Well? Haven't you your senses back, Fero?” Hiroku questioned in to the mind of the young man as he growled at a third person walking in. This man was older than the other two people. He seemed roughly fifty, and a pair of glasses rested on the bridge of his nose. He used one finger to push them back in to place.
“No, not yet…Almost. Where's my scythe?” The panther's massive head motioned to the locker. Fero sighed angrily and sat up. The stronger male pushed him down.
“No you don't, kid.” He said in that strangely familiar voice. Fero tried to push his hand away, his eyes shifting to red. But the man pushed against him.
“Let me go! What are you doing? Get away!” The other two had approached him as he yelled. They tried to push his hands and legs down as he kicked and beat against them. Even the older man was strong. Hiroku was roaring in protest, his large body lunging at the bars of his cage. His left arm was pushed down against the table and strapped, and now Fero's anger grew to a dangerous amount as he lashed at the strong man. His hand gripped the man's neck tightly, making him let go of his left arm.
“Jack!” The woman yelled and ran to his side. She pulled at Fero's hand, but couldn't make him release. The older man gripped at his legs, but one got loose and wrapped around the back of his neck. He pulled down hard and hit the man's head against the table, his ears listening as he heard the loud crack as he broke the old man's skull. The woman screamed in terror as she backed off. Jack's knees buckled and he dropped to the ground. Fero noticed that Hiroku had gotten out and noticed that he was approaching the woman.
“Wait! Not yet!” Fero yelled in protest before shoving Jack back and tearing at the restraint to get it off. About a minute later he was free and examined the damage he had caused. Jack was gasping for air, his trachea broken by his hand. The old man was simply lying on the floor as blood gushed from the open wound on his head. He looked at the woman and walked over to her, his bare feet slapping against the cold floor. He was a little taller than her and he stared down at her.
“Where are my clothes and my scythe?” Fero questioned, even though he knew where his scythe was. But his clothing was another story. He watched as she raised one finger and pointed at the locker. He nodded and saw the lock on it.
“Unlock it. Now.” He saw her scramble away and turned to follow her. The keys were attached to the old man's belt, and she pulled them off quickly before running to the locker and unlocking it.
“I-It's been about ten years since you came here, so your clothes won't fit you.” Fero nodded and walked over to Jack. He knelt down by him and took his head and snapped it to the left, listening for the satisfying crack to let him know the man was dead. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the woman flinch. He undressed Jack and put his clothing on, leaving him naked on the floor. He stood and brushed himself off before walking to the locker. Hiroku gnawed at the old man's corpse lying on the floor. The scythe fit so perfectly in his hands still, only he was almost as tall as it now.
“Hello, old friend.” He whispered to the scythe before backing away from the woman and twirling it in his palm. He closed his eyes, listening to the swoosh of the scythe gliding so easily in his grasp. He stopped and set the staff end of the scythe on the ground before opening his eyes and staring at the woman in front of him.
“What's your name?” He asked carefully.
“Jessica, Jessica Simmons.” She responded with her eyes averted to the floor.
“Jessica? All right. Lead me out of this place.” The woman seemed confused. Fero repeated his order. And to add dominance, slam the staff of the scythe on the hard ground. “Now!” He snapped at the end. She nodded then and pulled a card out to unlock the door. They hastily walked through and to the end of the horrible place, the faithful panther following the Fero's left, the woman to his right. His hair had dried, and now it was visible that at the ends, it curled. His eyes had faded from red to a dull grey. This wasn't abnormal with the Vampyre.
“Jessica? Do you know what I am?” He asked after a moment of silence between the two.
“N-No. We conducted many tests and found it hard to figure out what you are exactly.” She responded, scared to loose her life.
“I'm a Vampyre. I can sense three more here. No…wait…Four! And, two humans. Tell me, why did you take us here?”
“I'll answer all of your questions later. For now, I want you to tell me what you think I am.”
“Well, the stench of dog lingers on your body…Some sort of Shapeshifter?” He looked as Jessica shook her blonde head.
“I'm a Lycan.” Jessica said to him with a grin. She looked straight ahead, though she saw Fero's reaction out of the corner of her eyes. His whole body tensed in surprise.
“A Lycan?! Amazing! I hadn't noticed before!” He smiled a very goofy smile. “How could I not have noticed it? Hiroku, did you notice?” He looked over to the panther, who shook his head. His eyebrows raised curiously as he looked back over at Jessica.
“What are the others names?” Jessica seemed surprised.
“Their names? Umma, Cornelia, Kit, short for Kitsume, Ery, Rose and Sylvie.” She said with a definite nod.
“Let's see. With my name at the beginning, that spells F…U…C….K…E…R…S…? Fuckers? Ha!” Fero couldn't help but laugh at this.
They arrived at the second lab after about twenty minutes. Jessica pulled the card out.
“Umma is in here. He isn't the most…friendly. His mood changes frequently, and his current mood is…” Jessica pushed one hand in to her right coat pocket. When it retreated, a PDA sat in her palm.
“Hmm? What is that?” Fero watched as she tapped the screen of it. Ten years…Wow, he had missed so much.
“It's a PDA. It helps me with checking on everyone here when I'm at home. Umma is currently…calm? Wow. That's a new one. Umma is one of Vampyres.” The door opened and they walked in, lights flaring up all around them.
