Dare to Dream
*Kagome*
I want to draw. Draw as good as Ryo-kun. But, I freeze every time I pick up the pencil. I don’t know what I’m doing. It’s just…
I shook my head to myself.
I don’t know. I stare at the paper again. Why isn’t this working? I should have something by now. I should. I should!
“Something wrong?” I heard someone ask. I quickly turned around. Ryo-kun stood over me, looking down. My cheeks felt hot.
“Oh…” I mumbled. He sat down next to me.
“Are you okay?” he asked again. I nodded my head like a bobble head doll. He looked down at my sketchpad.
“Doing homework?” he asked. I shook my head.
“No,” I said. “Not really.”
“Then, what is it?” he asked. He tried to look, but I blocked him.
“No!” I said. Ryo-kun looked puzzled.
“Why not?” he asked. I tried to look away from him.
“It’s just…” I mumbled. Ryo-kun took my drawing pad and looked through it.
“What are all of these?” he asked. I looked down at my pictures.
“Oh,” I mumbled. “They are nothing…”
“No,” he said. “These are cute.” I gave him a puzzled look.
“Really?” I asked.
“Yeah,” he said. He held up one of my pictures. “You have a cute pig-bunny!” I laughed nervously.
“Close,” I said. “It’s a bunny.”
“Still cute,” he said. Ryo-kun paused for a moment. “Say, are you trying to study art?”
“Yeah,” I said. “No… I mean… I’m thinking about it.”
“You want to do it?” he asked.
“Yeah…” I said. I paused for a moment. “But…”
“But what?” he asked. I lowered my head as I clenched my fists.
“I’m not good, I said. He turned my face to him with a gentle smile.
“You don’t have to be like me art-wise,” he said.
“But I want to!” I said. I lowered my head again.
‘I just figured…” I mumbled. My face grew red as I shook my head. “Oh, this is so embarrassing!”
“Figured what?” Ryo-kun asked. I looked up with my fists clenched.
“Figured that this could bring us closer together if I tried!” My face turned red now.
“Is that a stupid idea?” she asked. Ryo-kun smiled as he shook his head.
“You can do it,” he said. “Just practice until you have the skills you want to be at.” I looked at him with big eyes.
“Really?” she asked. “You mean it?” He clutched my hands. My heart did a happy little flip in my chest.
“I will support you,” he said. My lips trembled in joy. I leaned into his chest. Ryo-kun chuckled at me.
“You’re welcome,” he said. “I’ll help you if you want.”
“Stop,” I whispered happily. “You don’t have to add on anything else. You don’t have to say anything else.” My heart kept doing little flips in my chest.
