Prologue



Blackstar's ears twitched as he heard a kitten mewling in the nursery. He purred happily, knowing
his mate Moonpelt had just had her first kitten. Blackstar stepped into the nursery and Moonpelt purred
at him, nosing the little bundle of fur that was nursing. "What shall her name be Blackstar?" she asked
him. Blackstar looked at the kit and meowed," I think her name shall be Shadowkit." Moonpelt purred.
"It's perfect." Suddenly they could hear the Clan fill with shrieks and yowls along with snarling. "FOX!"
they heard Dogclaw screech. Blackstar hissed. "Stay here," he told Moonpelt and raced out.

Moonpelt waited awhile, hearing yowling, screeching and hissing. Her ears pricked, hear snarling
by the nursery entrance. Her fur stood on end and she put Shadowkit behind her as the fox came in, it's
jaws slathered with saliva as it glared at her. Moonpelt hissed and launched herself at the fox, needle-sharp
claws digging into it's muzzle. The fox let out a howl of pain, trying to shake her off. It growled, throwing her off
it's muzzle. She landed hard on her side, dazed. The fox walkd towards her, muzzle bleeding where the claws
dug in. It lunged towards her, snarling with blood lust. Moonpelt let out a yowl of pain and then all was silent. The
fox had dragged her off, leaving Shadowkit motherless....
