Lance jerked away as soon as Red's fingers made contact with his skin, and Red stared at the Dragon Master, wondering why he was so skittish. Lance's hands were trembling, visible even with his black gloves, and for some reason, those coverings struck Red as very odd indeed.

Maybe Lance was just unused to sensation, but that explanation was quite unsatisfactory. It wasn't a lie, but there was just more that Lance probably wouldn't tell him. Lance was a very private person, and Red tried to respect that, he really did, but as he caught the fear flickering in those golden eyes for a few seconds before Lance got a hold of himself once more, he knew something was really wrong.

Lance seemed almost… afraid of him.

Why?

He tried not to look too hurt when Lance pulled away, but quietly, vowed to find out the reason as soon as possible.
