It was a basic rule of time: no person should be aware of the future because the future is fluid, always changing until it
becomes the present. Also once told a specific future the person affected becomes close minded and in the end loses the ability
to choose for themselves.
As the Guardian of Time, Setsuna understood that. However, Setsuna is also human and like the rest of us prone to make mistakes.
Usagi and Mamoru should have never learned about Crystal Tokyo. Blinded by emotion Setsuna broke that rule and now at the funeral she paid
the price for her transgression.
So many things had gone wrong. Usagi and Mamoru locked themselves into a loveless relationship trapped by what ifs.The other Inner
Senshi couldn't stand the sight of each other, petty grudges and misunderstandings were left to fester and become gaping wounds. The Outer Senshi
couldn't find any common ground with the Inner Senshi and were looked upon with jealousy because of their advanced abilities and supposed superiority.
At Mamoru's funeral Setsuna watched Usagi cry for broken dreams: the child she thought she would have and already loved deeply; the man who
should have been her prince charming, who instead turned into an abuser and alcoholic. Setsuna watched as her Princess cried for lost innocence, but most
of all her Princess cried alone. The friends Usagi had cherished so much had abandoned her. Usagi was broken and it was all Setsuna's fault.
There was only one thing she could do to make things right and it required Luna's help. When Haruka and Michiru heard her plan they refused to
cooperate. They refused to abandon their sister and demanded to help. And so as the sun set after the funeral Setsuna, Haruka, Michiru, Luna and Artemis
visited each of the inner senshi starting with Usagi and locked away their memories. It was the only way Setsuna could give them a fresh start unburdened
by a future that would never be. It was the only way to return their dreams.
And in the end, Haruka and Michiru could only watch as Setsuna broke and her heart shattered with grief.
