LOST SOULS
By Sailor DKC

It was the most incredible sights to behold. Queen Serenity
had blasted the traitors General Jadeite and Sailor Mars with her
scepter containing the Silver Imperium Crystal. They now both lay on
the ground, unconscious yet still holding hands. Picking themselves
up, the Senshi and the Generals ran over and surrounded the fallen
couple. “Amazing!” General Kunzite observed. “Taking a blast like
that, and yet they are still bound!
“What does it mean?” asked Sailor Venus. “Why do they still
hold each other?”
“My guess is that perhaps the love they share for each other
remains within them,” Sailor Mercury suggested.
“If that’s true,” General Zoisite said. “then there’s a
chance we can bring their true selves back. It’s obvious now that
they are clearly possessed.”
“Beryl!” General Nephrite seethed, as he clenched his
fists. “She’s the one who’s done this. She’s so desperate to win that
she’ll do anything, even possess those who’ll do her dirty work.”
“Well, we’ve got the advantage now!” Sailor Jupiter
exclaimed. “Let’s take our fallen comrades and see if we can reverse
this possession spell.”

Cackling, Beryl watched the whole scene through her floating
orb wand. “Yes, take them,” she sneered as the Senshi and the
Generals carried the traitors into the Moon Palace. “Take your
traitorous friends into your fortress. It would only serve my purpose
further.” Turning from the orb, she walked over to two small altars.
One altar had a jadeite stone pin lying on its surface while the
other had a ruby red Mars symbol pendant. Beryl gazed up at the two
floating apparitions above the altars- the unconscious souls of
Sailor Mars and General Jadeite, surrounded by a purplish energy
aura!
“Your bodies are merely puppets controlled by evil magic
under the influence of Queen Metallia,” Beryl said, then sighed.
Shivering excitedly, she caressed her arms. “Soon, my queen, you will
have what you want, and in return, I shall have what I want!”

In the recovery room of the Moon Palace, two beds were
placed together for Jadeite and Mars to lie on. For no matter how
many times it was tried even by force, their hands could not be
parted. Jupiter and Nephrite stood guard outside their room.
In the throne room, Queen Serenity sat on her throne as she
listened to Mercury’s report. Prince Darien and Princess Serena stood
by her side. Kunzite and Venus stood guard outside the room.
“According to my computer readings, Jadeite and Mars
are merely empty husks. Inside them are waves of purple energy, and
it’s very strong.” Mercury let out a despairing sigh. “I’m afraid to
admit this, but I fear that their souls are…gone.”
“Gone?” Serena gasped. She clutched her cheeks and shook
her head frantically. “No! No! They can’t be! Raye! Raye!”
Shocked, Darien managed to hold Serena close to him
as she buried her sobbing face in his chest. “Jedite,” he whispered.
A stunned expression also showed on the Queen’s face. Then
it turned serious, as she asked, “Are you certain of this, Sailor
Mercury?”
“I am not completely sure, my Queen,” she responded.
“Which is why I have this, your Majesty.” Zoisite held up
a slim rectangular crystal, in the color of clear purple. “During our
battles with Beryl, many of our soldiers have been captured and
brainwashed to follow her orders. I have created this crystal in
order to detect which soldiers are possessed and which are not. If
their souls are intact, the crystal will glow a pure white light.
Then we can release their possessed souls with a spell. If their
souls are not there, then the crystal will darken to pure blackness.”
“General Zoisite,” the Queen said. “I must ask: if the
crystal turns black, then what happens to the soldiers?”
Zoisite looked down to the floor, reluctant to answer.
Darien answered for him. “We bury them after we defeated them.”
Serena let out another sob as Mercury shut her eyes tightly.
Taking a deep breath, the Queen stood up. “We must know
now.”

It was impossible for Beryl to see into the Moon Palace
because of a protective barrier spell, but she knew her puppets were
inside. “Now it is time. They will accomplish their mission.” Closing
her eyes, she concentrated. Purplish waves of energy shot from her
hands into the floating orb wand. “Awaken, my puppets! Go! Seek! And
bring back!”
In the recovery room, the traitors Jadeite and Mars opened
their eyes, flashing purple.

“Are you sure this will work, your Majesty?” Kunzite asked
as he walked rapidly beside her.
Nodding, the Queen placed the Crystal onto her scepter. “It
will only if we know for certain that their souls are intact within
their bodies.”
“And if they are not?” Venus asked, on the Queen’s other
side. “What should we do then?”
Holding up her Crescent Wand, Serenity sighed. “I don’t
know.”
Darien, Serena, Mercury, and Zoisite walked behind them as
they approached the hallway leading to the recovery room. That was
when the rumbling started. Everyone stumbled, bumped into each other,
and held onto anything to keep from falling. Then they heard Nephrite
and Jupiter.
“STAR SWORD…STRIKE!”
“SUPREME…THUNDER!”

“Kunzite! Venus! Stay here! Protect her Majesty and the
Prince and Princess!” Zoisite took off with Mercury behind him. As
the two arrived at the recovery room, they met with a blast opening
the doors and a battered Nephrite and Jupiter thrown across the air!
They landed with a sickening thud. Reaching out slowly in pain,
Nephrite grasped Jupiter’s hand. “Lita,” he grunted. “You’re hurt.”
Managing to turn her head to look at him, Jupiter
whispered, “Oh, Nephlite.” She gripped his hand tightly. And they
both passed out.
“Oh, no! Jupiter! Nephrite!” Mercury yelled as she ran over
to them, knelt down, and checked their pulses. Staring ahead at the
wrecked doors, Zoisite took out his detector crystal. “They’re
alive!” Mercury gasped in relief. “I think we can-“ She stopped as
Zoisite walked past her into the room, then she quickly got up and
followed him.

Both Mercury and Zoisite were stunned at the sight before
them. The room was in shambles, and the beds were flung apart in
pieces all over the place. Standing in the middle of the room, Mars
and Jadeite stared at them, but this time they looked different. His
dark gray uniform with red lining has changed into a light gray with
blue lining, She was no longer wearing her senshi uniform, but a red
turtleneck sleeveless top baring her midriff and a red long skirt
with a side split that goes up her left mid-thigh.

* Staring straight ahead, Jadeite and Mars stood close to each other,
his left hand caressing her bare midriff. She leaned on his left
shoulder with her right arm, her hand holding his right hand. *

“We told you before,” Mars’ electronic voice spoke. “You
cannot defeat us!”
“Move aside,” Jadeite commanded in the same electronic
voice. “We are here for the Princess!”

Holding his crystal up, Zoisite stated, “You’ll have to get
through us!” He noticed the crystal beginning to glow, but then it
was overcome by blackness. Then the pure light appeared again, then
black. Light, black, light, black, and so on. It was as if the
crystal could not decide what reading to focus on.
“No problem!” Mars and Jadeite yelled together as they
stepped forward, holding hands. As they prepare to attack, Mercury
shouted,
“BUBBLES…SPRAY!” The room was instantly covered in bubble
fog. Mercury pulled Zoisite by the arm, and they ran out into the
hallway. “We must warn the others!” They met up with the others as
they came down the hallway.
“What happened?” Kunzite asked. “We heard explosions!”
“There’s no time! We need to get our Royal Superiors to
safety!” Zoisite urged.
“The traitors attacked Nephrite and Jupiter!” Mercury
explained. “Hurry! I don’t know how long my bubble fog will hold
them!”
“Then we must leave the Palace!” Venus said. “Before-“

“You mean before we caught up with you?” Everyone gasped
as they faced the traitors. Jadeite continued, “We are here to take
the Princess to Beryl.”
Darien placed himself in front of Serena as her mother held
her, holding up her Crescent Wand. “You will not take her as long as
I live!” he declared.
Cocking her head to one side, Mars scrutinized the Prince.
“Prince Darien, our orders also include to capture you as well,” she
spoke.
Immediately, Kunzite and Venus stood in front of their
Royal Superiors. “Our duty is to protect our Majesties at any cost,
even with our lives!” Venus stated firmly.
“And even if it means going against our comrades!” Kunzite
formed his boomerang weapon.
Still holding hands, the dangerous duo held up their
opposite hands. “So be it,” they said, electronically.
Crying out battle cries, Kunzite and Venus rushed forward,
unleashing their attacks.
“BOOMERANG…SLASH!”
“CRESCENT…BEAM!”

Waving their free hands, Jadeite and Mars flung back the
attacks. Kunzite and Venus cried out in pain as their own attacks
struck them and collapsed on the floor, unconscious. Before Zoisite
and Mercury could react, the traitors shot out electrical waves which
surrounded the Royal Superiors. They cried out in pain.
“Prince Darien!” shouted Zoisite.
“Oh, no! Princess Serena! Queen Serenity!” Mercury yelled.
They both ran to help them, but were repelled by the electric shocks
of the barrier.
“Our mission is accomplished,” Mars said, tonelessly. “We
have the Prince and the Princess.”
“And as a special bonus,” Jadeite continued, tonelessly.
“We also have the Queen and the Crystal as well.” They both started
to glow purple, along with their captives, preparing to disappear
when…
“SHINE AQUA…ILLUSION!” Waves of ice from Mercury
swept all over them, causing them to lose their concentration.
“ZOI-PETALS…PULVERIZE!” Zoisite blasted his petals which
struck at them and around the barrier holding the prisoners. The
barrier weakened for a moment, and Queen Serenity fell out, holding
her Crescent Wand. She fell to the ground, unconscious.

“Your Majesty!” Mercury ran to her and held her in her arms.
“Queen Serenity!” Zoisite lessened his attack, giving the
traitors the opportunity to disappear with their captives. “No! Damn
it!” Zoisite shouted. “They got away!”
“They took the Prince and the Princess!” Mercury cried,
hugging her Queen. “What do we do? What do we do?”
Zoisite then looked at his crystal detector which he just took out.
“Don’t worry, Mercury. I think there’s hope.”

Shaking her fists angrily, Beryl paced around the room.
The traitors Jadeite and Mars looked at her nonchalantly as she
walked back and forth. “Close! So close! We nearly had the Crystal
within our grasp!” she screamed. Then she stopped in front of the
reclining floating unconscious bodies of Darien and Serena. “At least
it wasn’t a total loss.” She looked at the Princess and made a sound
of disgust. “Take her to the dungeons.”
As the traitors took Serena away, Beryl walked over to the
small altars and looked at the lost souls of General Jadeite and
Sailor Mars. “Because of you both under my power, I was able to get
what I truly want.” Turning, she walked over to the floating Prince
and looked down at him. “Mine,” she whispered, then bent down and
laid her head on his chest and caressed his shoulders. “Oh, my
Prince, how I long for you. Now I have you.”
She did not notice the purple aura, surrounding the captive
unconscious souls of Jadeite and Mars, lessening its glow. Their
heads began to move slightly, and their eyelids started to flutter
open and close. Then, in each of their minds, a name of the one
person they truly love came into form.
‘Jedite.’
‘Raye.’
