"Wandering souls of the dead...
Forest spirits...
Even the ancient gods...
There are people who can communicate freely with these beings...
And evoke into this world powers beyond humanity.
They are called...
Shamans."

Chapter 1:
A Strange Day
Alex Ochoa was a free-spirited 13-year-old who lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA with his aunt, uncle, and two cousins.  He had short black hair and brown eyes.  He liked to hang out with his friends, play video games, listen to music, and watch the stars at night, also, Alex was concerned about the enviroment.  He was pretty much a normal teenager, except for one thing, he belonged to a family of shamans: people who can see ghosts, spirits and interact with them.  Since little, he had been trained, in secrecy, to increase his shamanic skills.  He had told none of his human friends about that ability because he thought they wouldn't understand.  It was the last day of school and the beginning of spring break, while walking home from school he said to himself:
"I wish there was a way I could do something for the Earth..."
"Is that so?" Responded tall a man with long black hair selling what appeared to be Native American charms, and ornaments, he was wearing some strange rings in all the fingers of his right hand.
"Who are you?!" Exclamated Alex.
"That is not important right now.  If you really want to help this planet, young shaman, you better train hard and get yourself a guardian ghost."
"How do you know I'm a shaman?! And what are you talking about?!"
"That is also not important and I'm talking about the Shaman Fight."
"Ok.  Then, what is the Shaman Fight?"
"It is the ultimate shaman tournament where the winner meets and joins with the Great Spirit, whom many people call God, and makes the world however he or she wants."
"That sounds really cool!  But one last question, how do I get a Guardian Ghost?"
"Hey, I can't tell you all the answers, kid!," the man said looking frustrated, "if you want to participate in the Shaman Fight, just get yourself a Guardian Ghost and I will meet you when the time comes, got it?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Goodbye for now.  We shall meet again!"
"Sure!  See ya!"
With that, the stranger took his merchandise and departed.  Alex walked home with excitement, completely forgetting he and his relatives would depart the next day for Mexico, to visit his family and friends for most of spring break.
