Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Chronicles of Mobius book 2 ❯ A new threat ( Chapter 1 )
Shadow huffed as the coronation of king Knuckles and queen Sonia began and stormed out of the royal courtyard
"I don't care if that red punk wiped out his tribe, I wouldn't trust an echidna to rule the blasted country." Shadow muttered. "How can they forget what the Echidna tribe has done? I remember, even with a concussion."
Shadow walked as far as Mobodoon.
A flash of light coming from somewhere in the valley outside of Mobodoon and the Great Mobius forest caught Shadow's eye.
He raced off to see what it was the Great Mobius forest and Mobodoon.
Shadow walked around the large, tube shaped metal structure. "What is this thing?"
A door on the ship whooshed open.
Shadow flinched and raised his spines.
An egg-shaped human stepped out of the object and flinched as well. "I didn't expect to find an alien… porcupine here."
Shadow narrowed his eyes. "I'm a hedgehog."
"Ah, good, you can talk." The man said. "It'll save me some time and costly experiments."
Shadow raised his eyebrow. "Who are you?"
"How foolish of me." The man said. "I'm Dr. Ivo Robotnik, a top-level scientist from Earth, who also designed this ship, and you are?"
Shadow introduced himself.
"I suppose it fits." Robotnik said, taking a note on his smartphone. "What is the name of this planet?"
"Mobius." Shadow replied.
Robotnik opened a door on his ship. "Come, I need to ask you some questions about your home. Would you like coffee? Do you have coffee here?"
Shadow nodded. He followed Robotnik inside the ship, though he was somewhat wary of this newcomer.
Robotnik led Shadow to the cafeteria. "My butler robot will bring your coffee shortly." He said, sitting down at a small table. "Now, my ship's sensors are picking up this powerful electromagnetic radiation signal from somewhere near the mountain ranges about fifty miles from here and in the large fortress near here."
Shadow furrowed his brow, then nodded. "It could be the Master Emerald; it's in the palace at Mobotropolis." He replied. He sat down across from Robotnik as a robot brought the coffee. "There's also the Chaos Emerald mines about that far from here."
Robotnik leaned forward. "What is the Master Emerald or the Chaos emeralds?"
"Some super substance, according to Tails." Shadow replied. "He's the craftsman of Mobotropolis. You probably should speak to him, but he's allied with that vile echidna despot. I wouldn't trust him because of that."
Robotnik sipped his coffee. "I take it that you're disgruntled."
"You have no idea." Shadow replied.
"Tell me more." Robotnik said. "While you're at it, tell me the whole history of this planet to the best of your ability and if you know anyone who might be just as discontented as you are."
Shadow sipped his coffee. "Are you suggesting an alliance?"
"I am." Robotnik said. "I promise you that you will be richly rewarded."
Shadow shook Robotnik's hand. "Agreed."
He said, shaking Robotnik's hand. "Now, before we get into the important parts in Mobian history, I know a couple of bounty hunters who would be happy to join your cause for the right price…."
Meanwhile in Tashistan, a dark green male hedgehog was running down a dark alley, to a little shack hidden in an alcove.
"Ma, I'm home." The hedgehog called. He glanced around as he walked through the house. "Ma?"
Jade looked up from making dinner and sighed. "What did you steal this time, Nikós?"
Nikós shrugged. "Puts food on the table, doesn't it?"
"That's one thing I wish you hadn't gotten from your father." Jade said, setting the dinner plates on the table.
Nikós sat down in one of the chairs and dropped his full money pouch on the table.
A handful of coins slipped out of the bag and landed on the table and floor.
"Sorry." Nikós muttered.
Jade sat down across from Nikós.
Nikós took a bite of his chicken. "I thought Dad saved Tashistan from the dragon and helped defeat the echidnas."
Jade sipped her tea. "He did, but he also robbed the Chaos temple in Hamarapi among other places he robbed." She replied. "He was wanted all over the place."
Nikós picked at his dinner. "I wish I could've met him."
Jade ruffled Nikós' head spines. "I do too, sweetie."
