Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Chronicles of Mobius ❯ Port Mobius ( Chapter 7 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

The hedgehogs arrived at the little town, by the Mobian Sea.

All of the ships at port were destroyed and the city was partially burnt down.

Manic inspected the damage to a little shack by the pier. "Looks like we just missed them."

A loud snake-like hiss echoed through the town.

The hedgehogs flinched.

"What was that?" Sonia asked.

The three drew their swords and ventured into the town.

Suddenly, a monstrous purplish-black snake slithered out of an alley.

The three hedgehogs stepped away, watching the snake's movement.

Viper hissed at them, mostly eyeing Sonia since her spines weren't as visible to her at that angle.

Sonia eased behind Manic and Sonic. "Uh… boys…?"

"I got the first monster." Manic said.

"I know, I'm up next." Sonic mumbled. He backed up a few steps to give himself a running start, then charged at Viper. He balled up and flung himself at the snake monster.

Viper caught Sonic in her mouth.

Sonia and Manic gasped.

Manic drew his sword.

Sonic jabbed the roof of Viper's mouth with his spines.

Viper immediately spit him out and violently coughed.

Sonic drew his sword as he fell to the ground. He uncurled and shoved his sword into Viper's body (through a gap in her armor) and twisted the sword.

Viper shrieked, then collapsed.

Sonic pulled the sword out of Viper and sheathed it. "I didn't want to do that, but you left me no choice."

Manic and Sonia rushed over to Sonic.

"Little tip for you two." Sonic said. "Make sure you self anoint with anything that'll irritate someone who may try to eat you."

Sonia gagged. "Eww! You seriously do that?" She asked. "That's so disgusting."

Manic looked at Sonia. "Saved his life, didn't it, princess?"

A flash of green light reflected off of a nearby window.

Sonic did a double take in the direction where he thought the light was coming from. "What's that?"

The light glowed brighter, smoke billowed out of the alley.

"Kinda glows like a Chaos emerald." Manic said.

"Stay here, I'll check it out." Sonic said. He raced over to the light to see what it was.

Sonic shielded his eyes as the light intensified.

The light finally faded away, revealing a strange, rectangular mirror with about a dozen or so Chaos emeralds inside the large glass rim surrounding the mirror.

In front of the mirror, stood… Queen Aleena.

Queen Aleena froze as soon as the smoke from the mirror cleared and she could see Sonic. "Where's Sonia?"

"Back there." Sonic said, motioning behind him. "Why are you being so secretive?"

"Because a queen is a more valuable target." Queen Aleena replied. "However, I can't sit idly by and let my daughter face the echidnas without any help."

Sonic nodded. "So how are you assisting us aside from giving notes to Sonia?"

"I haven't done much aside from that and getting you three your weapons yet." Aleena replied. "The echidnas have found out what has happened to the dragon of Tashistan and Chaos. They'll soon realize Viper is deceased. They'll create new, more powerful monsters now since they consider you three to be a threat."

Sonic shrugged as Manic and Sonia joined them. "Eh, we've been able to win battles so far."

"Pride comes before a fall, Sonic." Queen Aleena warned.

"She's right." Sonia said, touching Sonic's shoulder. "I don't want to see my friends get killed."

"I'm not arrogant, I'm stating a fact." Sonic replied.

Sonia and Manic rolled their eyes.

Queen Aleena shook her head. "I suppose you must learn the hard way," She said, looking at the scroll. "I hear Manic hadn't done his training."

"He doesn't need it." Sonic replied. "He's a great fighter."

Manic glanced at Sonic. "I'm getting the feeling that's gonna be a problem."

"Hopefully not, but it's too late for that now." Aleena replied. "The monastery was destroyed a couple of weeks ago by the echidnas."

Sonic tilted his head to the side and folded his arms. "How did all that training work for them?"

Sonia elbowed Sonic sharply in his ribs.

"Probably would've gone a little better if they had the weapons you have." Aleena said. She showed them her scepter, which looked slightly similar to the trio's swords. "Given that we're the only ones with Chaos Emerald powered weapons, I may have to fight with you three, given how dire the situation is."

Sonic grinned. "Glad to have your help, your highness."

Manic grabbed Sonic's arm. "Excuse us. He said. He pulled Sonic away and dragged him to the street and around the corner.

"What?" Sonic asked.

"I don't like this." Manic said. "I get why she's following us around, but it's making me uneasy about this whole thing. Then the training-"

"You heard her." Sonic replied. "They didn't have the weapons we have. You have some skill-"

"I hardly did anything to fight the dragon." Manic snapped.

Sonic groaned. "Then what do you want to do? Go back?" He questioned. "We need you. Mobius is counting on us to fight the echidnas. You walk away, we lose, and you'll have nowhere to go."

"Fine, I'll keep going." Manic muttered.

Sonic and Manic caught up with Sonia.

"Where's your mom?" Sonic asked.

Sonia motioned to the mirror. "Scouting ahead in Lake Valley."

"What kind of mirror is that?" Manic asked.

"It's a portal mirror, imported from the Emerald Palace as a gift to my mother." Sonia replied. "You can use it to travel to another place that has a portal mirror or not, but the latter is a little more difficult."

Manic walked right into the mirror. He yelped as he bounced off it.

Sonic helped Manic up.

"It has to be activated first, Manic." Sonia said.

"How do we use it?" Manic asked.

Sonia shrugged, palms upward. "I don't know." She replied. "Mother hasn't taught me how to do that yet."

Manic rolled his eyes. "Let me guess: she told you it was magic, huh?"

Sonia gave Manic a dirty look.

"Anyway, you don't need some fancy portal when you're the fastest thing alive." Sonic said, picking up Manic. He picked up Sonia, then raced off.
