Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ House Guests ❯ New situation ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Sonic sat on the deck of his little shack by Mobius beach, just minutes away from Mobotropolis.

Tails was showing off his new robot lawn mower.

“Well, it’s impressive, Tails.” Sonic said. “But I haven’t seen it in action.”

“It just came back from mowing Mom’s yard.” Tails replied. “She thought it did a great job.”

 Tails’ and Sonic’s communicators chimed.

“Ah, who could that be?” Tails asked. He flinched; his eyes widened. “Oh, Amy said there’s a fire in Manic and Surge’s neighborhood. I wouldn’t worry. It doesn’t mean it’s their house.”

“Doesn’t mean it isn’t.” Sonic said, getting up. “See you later, lil bro.”

 “See you.” Tails replied.

 Sonic raced off to Mobotropolis.

*

Sonic skidded to a stop at Manic’s house.

The place was completely engulfed in flames.

Sonic stared at the burning house. He was getting ready to rush in when a fireman, a Mobian cat, pulled him back.

“No one’s home.” The fireman said. “The neighbor said that the owners left an hour ago and their car is gone.”

“Are they sure?” Sonic asked. “This is my brother and sister in law’s house.”

 “My house!” Manic yelled.

Sonic and the fireman turned to see Manic and Surge, standing beside their car and staring in shock at the house.

 “Manic?” Sonic called.

Manic led Surge over to Sonic.

Sonic immediately hugged his brother. “Oh, man, I thought you two were trapped in there.”

 “I’m okay, bro.” Manic said.

“Nothing we can’t replace.” Surge said, staring at the house.

Manic rubbed Surge’s shoulder. “Right, babe.”

 Kit ran over. “Surge!”

Surge flinched as Kit hugged her. “I’m fine, Drippy.”

Kit drew a shaky breath. “Good.” He said. He looked at the house. “Where are you gonna stay?”

“Hadn’t thought of that yet.” Manic replied.

“I’d let you stay at my place, but it’s too small.” Kit said, frowning.

“So’s Ma’s place.” Manic replied. “Especially since Unc moved in.”

“You’re welcome at my place, bro.” Sonic said.

Manic hugged Sonic. “Thank you, bro.” He replied. “It’ll only be temporary. Just until we can get a place.”

“Take as long as you need.” Sonic said. “You’re family.”

 “Thanks.” Manic replied.

*

Sonic led Manic and Surge inside his shack. “Alright, you know where everything is, get settled into the guest room.” He said. “You can pick a movie for dinner.”

 “Thanks.” Manic said.

Manic and Surge headed to the guest room.

 Sonic’s phone rang.

Sonic answered his phone as he walked into the kitchen. “Hey, I-”

“Sonic, where’s Manic?” Aleena asked. “Sonia and I saw the news.”

“He’s fine, Mom.” Sonic replied. “He and Surge are staying with me. They weren’t home when it happened.”

Aleena sighed in relief. “Oh, thank God.”

“He said his phone died, so it’s charging as soon as he plugs it in.” Sonic said. “I can tell him to call you later. I’m about to make dinner.”

“Okay, sweetie.” Aleena said. “I’ll talk to you later. Love you.”

“Love you too; bye.” Sonic replied. He hung up. He pulled a frozen pizza out of the freezer, then turned the oven on.

Manic, in his pajamas, walked in. “Oh, dude, I hope you’re not making all of that for us.” He said. “We’re still full from dinner.”

“Then I guess you can have some tomorrow.” Sonic replied.

“That’s fine with me.” Manic said.

“Oh, and make sure to call Mom or text her later.” Sonic said. “She and sis saw the news and it worried her when she couldn’t reach you.”

“Already done it.” Manic replied. “Texted her from Surge’s phone. She was probably talking to you when it was sent out.”

Surge, in her pajamas and texting, walked in. “I put it on that movie you wanted to watch last night, Cute stuff.”

Sonic sighed. “Is it as bad as that Sasquatch movie he had us watch at Mom’s?”

“Maybe.” Surge said, shrugging. “It’s the worst movie that Rifftrax ever watched according to the description.”

“Oh, then this will be brutal.” Sonic muttered.

“Nah, it’s an alien bug movie.” Manic said. “It’s gotta be at least as good as Feeders or Fungicide.”

“At least we have pizza for it.” Sonic replied.

*

Sonic stared dumbfounded at the tv.

“Wow, this one’s really bad.” Manic said. “Why don’t they leave the house?”

“Wait, I thought that guy was dead.” Surge said, motioning to the tv. “Didn’t he get violently sucked into a rat hole?”

“I thought so too, but I don’t know anymore.” Manic replied. “I don’t get why they didn’t just leave and I’m still trying to figure out why that lady gave birth to all the bug aliens. I know it’s a mad scientist experiment, but how does this help that couple have a baby?”

“Wait, maybe she didn’t give birth and they popped out chestburster style.” Surge said. “It’s hard to tell.”

Manic cringed. “Eww; either way, it’s weird.”

“Why are we watching this?” Sonic snapped.

“We didn’t take the warning seriously.” Surge replied. “Now we gotta see it through.”

Manic and Surge burst out laughing.

“How is that guy talking?!” Sonic yelled. “He’s a disgusting skeleton!”

“Yeah, I don’t think a hospital is gonna help you, skeleton guy.” Surge said, trying to stop laughing.

“Man, that was the best part.” Manic said, wiping his eyes. “Almost makes it worth it.”

Sonic rolled his eyes. “I’m going to bed.”

“Alright, we’ll keep it down, bro.” Manic said. Sonic got up and headed to his bedroom. “Have fun.”

*

Sonic laid in his bed, staring at the ceiling. He glanced at the clock.

 It was now eleven thirty.

Sonic sighed as he heard the TV and Surge and Manic’s laughter. “They could at least keep the volume down.” He muttered.

 The tv finally shut off.

Manic and Surge headed to their room and shut the door.

“Finally.” Sonic said softly. He finally drifted off to sleep.
