Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Sick Day ❯ Shadow and Manic ( Chapter 2 )
Shadow laid on his and Sonia’s bed, watching true crime documentaries with Sonia.
Shadow glanced at Sonia. “Do you need anything from the kitchen?”
“I was about to get up anyway.” Sonia said. “If you need anything, I’ll get you something.”
“Some more soup and crackers.” Shadow replied.
“Alright.” Sonia said, getting up.
“I could get it for you.” Shadow replied. “I need to stretch anyway.”
“Then you can get up with me.” Sonia said, walking around to Shadow’s side of the bed. She helped Shadow up. “If you start feeling bad, let me know so I can get you back to bed.”
“I will.” Shadow replied. He shuffled alongside Sonia.
“I appreciate that you’re willing to try to do things for yourself and help with Maria when both of you are sick, but you need to rest.” Sonia said. “It’s okay to have a little help sometimes.”
Shadow sighed. “I get it, Sonia.” He replied. “Thanks a lot. I appreciate your help.”
“You’re welcome, sweetie.” Sonia said.
“I need to get back to bed.” Shadow said, turning back toward the bedroom.
Sonia walked Shadow back to bed and helped him in. “Do you want to watch something else?”
“No, this is fine.” Shadow said, pulling the blankets back over himself.
Sonia kissed Shadow’s forehead. “I’ll be back with your food in a minute.” She replied. She left the room.
Shadow fell asleep.

Surge sat down on the couch.
Manic coughed. “Babe?”
Surge sighed. “Let me guess: you want something from the kitchen now.”
“Yes, please.” Manic replied.
Surge groaned. “Why didn’t you ask while I was up?”
“I’m sorry.” Manic said, sniffling. “I didn’t think about it until now.”
Surge rolled her eyes. “What do you need?”
“Some more ginger ale.” Manic said. He weakly tried to sit up. “I’ll get it myself.”
Surge got up. “No, I’ll get it.” She replied. She walked into the kitchen. “Good grief. Why can’t you ever ask me when I’m up?”
Surge got another can of ginger ale out of the fridge and brought it to Manic.
Manic took the can and opened it. “Thanks.” He said. He sipped his drink as Surge sat down again. “You know, I didn’t complain when I had to take care of you while you were pregnant. You’d even send me out late at night for food, but I didn’t whine about it.”
Surge gave Manic a dirty look. “I was carrying twins, not whining about a common cold.”
Manic sighed. “I’m not saying my cold was worse.” He said. “I know it was extremely hard for you and I hated that I couldn’t do more for you. All I was saying is that I took care of you without complaining. I’m rarely sick and all you’ve done is yell at me.”
Surge slumped a bit. “I’m sorry, Cute stuff.” She replied. “I just wish you would’ve let me know earlier. I have barely sat down for five straight minutes without you or the kids asking for something.”
“I’m sorry.” Manic said. “I didn’t think of that.”
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have lost my temper with you.” Surge replied. She picked up the remote. “Is there a movie you want to watch?”
“Inhumanwich.” Manic said.
“Again?” Surge asked. She put the movie on. “Well, it was pretty funny.”
Surge laid down beside Manic and stroked his spines as they watched the movie.
