Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Thanksgiving ❯ One shot ( Chapter 1 )
Sonic yawned as he walked into the kitchen with Sonia and Manic. “Why’d you make us get up at seven in the morning?”
“You usually get up at seven.” Sonia said. “Why are you complaining?”
“Manic gets up at seven.” Sonic replied.
Manic nodded.
“I usually get up at six to run, but I was gonna sleep in today.” Sonic said. “So I was gonna run at about ten.”
“I was gonna watch the Mystery Science theater Turkey day marathon.” Manic replied.
Sonia crossed her arms. “So you were gonna make me, Sally, and Surge make dinner?”
“Where’s Shadow?” Sonic asked.
“He’s not a great cook and he had to help Tails with something.” Sonia replied. “Now, get the turkey out of the fridge. I’ll look up the recipe.”
Manic and Sonic got the turkey out of the fridge and tossed it on the counter.
“He’s a big one.” Manic said, patting the turkey. “I bet he didn’t go down without a fight.”
Sonia groaned. “You have to cook it for six or eight hours?”
“It won’t be ready for dinner.” Sonic said, glancing at the clock.
Sonia started crying. “I wanted this to be perfect for Mother.”
Sally and Surge walked in.
Manic leaned against the counter. “Maybe we can microwave it.”
“Are you crazy?” Sally asked. “That thing won’t fit in there.”
Surge got herself a cup of coffee. “It’s too early to deal with this.” She muttered under her breath.
“We can cut it in pieces.” Manic said. “Have we stuffed it yet?”
“I kinda started on the stuffing last night.” Sonia replied. “You can clean it out. I’m willing to try anything to make this perfect.”
Manic looked at Surge. “Babe, you want to do that?”
Surge shook her head. “No, I don’t want to find a baby turkey in there.” She replied. “Oh, Sonia already-”
“Turkeys lay eggs, babe.” Manic said, trying to stifle his laughter. “Wh- why-”
Manic burst out laughing.
Sonic, Sonia, and Sally laughed.
Surge balled her fists up and seethed.
“Why did you think that?” Manic laughed.
Sonic wiped his eyes. “Maybe it has to do with that clip we saw on that YouTube compilation.”
Manic turned around and crouched a bit to see inside the turkey.
Surge shoved Manic’s back, forcing his head into the turkey.
“Hey!” Manic protested. “What the- get this thing off of me!”
Manic stood up, the turkey was stuck on his head.
“My turkey!” Sonia cried.
Sonic laughed again. “I wish I had a fez and sunglasses.”
Surge, smirking, and Sally took pictures of Manic.
Manic tried to pull the turkey off, his hands constantly sliding off the bird. “Eww! C’mon, help me out, you jerks!” He cried. “It stinks!”
Sonic doubled over laughing. “Aw, man, my sides!”
Shadow, carrying a roaster, and Tails walked in at that exact moment.
“I’m afraid to ask.” Tails said, wide eyed.
Shadow put the roaster on the counter. “Sonia, I hope you or your brother were switched at birth and you’re not related to this.” He said, motioning to Manic.
“Help him out, please.” Sonia said. “I have to hurry up and cook it.”
“Yes, help me out!” Manic cried. “I’m gonna puke.”
Shadow stepped over and pulled the turkey off of Manic’s head.
The turkey flew across the room and landed on the floor.
Manic just stood there, covered in slime, with a horrified look on his face.
Surge walked over to the turkey.
“Don’t worry, I made a backup turkey.” Tails said, motioning to the roaster. “I kinda figured something would happen.”
Sonia hugged Tails. “Oh, thank you so much.”
Surge walked back over with the turkey. “Alright, I can clean this off and cook it for later.”
Sonia looked at Surge. “It was on the floor.”
“Kit and I ate out of dumpsters when we were kids, this is nothing, you spoiled princess.” Surge said, dusting off the turkey.
Manic looked at Surge. “You ate out of dumpsters?”
“Only whatever was on the top.” Surge replied.
“Hovering above the rim like an angel?” Sonic asked.
Manic covered his mouth with his fist to keep from laughing.
Surge rolled her eyes. “Your brother had his head up a turkey’s butt and you’re gonna criticize me for what I did to survive as a kid?”
“Hey, I didn’t do it for fun.” Manic said, crossing his arms. “Someone shoved me. Who shoved me?”
“Your crazy wife.” Sonic said, motioning to Surge.
Surge set the turkey down on a pan. “Alright, you better be glad my coffee is cold.” She replied. “Because I’d throw it-”
“Knock it off.” Sally said. “Let’s make the rest of the dinner before Aleena, Maria, and Kit come over. Surge, you can make your turkey, but none of us are gonna eat it.”
Surge grinned. “Fine with me.”
“And for the love of all that’s holy, Manic, take a shower.” Sally continued. “You look like you were just born.”
Manic walked out of the kitchen.
Sonia sighed. “Okay, let’s get started.”
*
The triplets and Tails waited anxiously for anyone to taste the turkey.
Aleena tasted the turkey. “Oh, this is really good.”
“Tails made it.” Sonia said.
“Great job, Tails.” Aleena said, looking over at him.
“Aw, thanks.” Tails replied. “It’s the first time I ever cooked one. I’m glad it’s edible.”
Kit sniffed the air. “Are you making another turkey?”
“Yeah, we wanted two birds.” Manic said. “Yep, that’s exactly what happened.”
“I didn’t put my turkey in the oven until seven.” Sonia said. “I didn’t know it took hours to bake it, so we’re eating the back up bird that Tails made.”
Surge smirked. “Manic got a great look at the other one.”
Sonic spit his drink out as he burst out laughing.
Shadow seethed as he dried himself off.
Manic elbowed Surge. “Shut up.” He said in a low tone.
“What?” Surge asked. “It’s funny.”
Surge showed Aleena the picture of Manic on her phone while Sally showed Maria and Kit the same picture on her phone.
Maria and Kit laughed.
Aleena laughed and handed the phone back to Surge. “I didn’t think you’d do that again, Manic.”
“Again?” Surge and Sonic asked.
“Uncle Chuck was watching the thanksgiving episode of Mr. Bean once when the kids were three.” Aleena said. “Manic thought it would be funny and stuck his head in the turkey, but he was so small his head went right through the top and stopped at his shoulders.”
Surge laughed. “You got pictures?”
“Yes, I’ll look for them later and send a copy to you.” Aleena replied.
Manic’s face turned red.
Sonic shrugged. “I didn’t realize Mr. Bean did that joke too.” He said. “I thought it was only used in Friends.”
Manic sighed. “Anyone watch the parade?”
Sonic snapped his fingers. “Oh, man, I forgot.” He said. “They have a balloon for me this year.”
“It hit a street light and popped.” Aleena said. “Made a lot of kids cry.”
Manic laughed.
“I guess I deserve that for laughing at him.” Sonic said, motioning to Manic.
*
The family gathered in the living room with their dessert of pumpkin pie to watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
Shadow fell asleep.
Sonic and Manic glanced at Shadow.
“If it wasn’t our couch, I’d try the warm water thing on him.” Sonic said.
“He’d kill you for that.” Manic replied.
“So who wants to go Black Friday shopping tomorrow?” Sonia asked.
“No.” Surge and Sally replied.
“It’s a scam and it’s not worth dying over.” Manic said.
Aleena nodded.
Sonia sighed. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right.”
Manic flipped the tv off as soon as the credits rolled.
Aleena, Kit, and Maria got up.
“We better head out.” Aleena said.
Tails got up. “Me too.” He added. “I have a lot of work to do tomorrow.”
After saying their goodbyes, Sonic showed Aleena, Kit, and Maria along with Tails out.
Shadow woke up. “I missed the movie?”
Sonia looked at Shadow. “I’m sorry, I thought you needed a nap.”
“It’s fine.” Shadow said, getting up. He stretched his arms. “I’ll get the tree and ornaments out of the attic for you.”
Shadow walked off toward the hallway.
“Thanks, love.” Sonia said.
“So who’s hosting the Christmas party this year?” Manic asked.
“Mom is.” Sonic replied. “And she specifically told me to tell you not to put on the Animaniacs Christmas cd.”
Manic sighed. “Oh, like her Chipmunk Christmas cd is any better?” He said. “So I’m not allowed to play the new Skillet Christmas song either?”
“I couldn’t imagine a screamy hard rock Christmas song, so you should be good.” Sonic said.
Manic smirked. “Alright.”
