Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ The girlfriend ❯ The next day ( Chapter 3 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Shadow, Sonia, and Sally were making pancakes and smoothies for breakfast when Sonic got out of bed.

Sonic yawned as he poured himself some coffee. “Where’s Surge and Manic?”

 Sonia shrugged. “I don’t know. I haven’t seen them.”

“I heard them talking earlier.” Shadow said, pouring strawberry smoothies into the glasses. “It was still dark.”

Sonic glanced toward the bedrooms. “Oh….”

 Shadow chuckled.

“Sonic, the more you get annoyed, the more Surge will do things to annoy you.” Sally said. “Manic really loves her, try to be happy for him.”

“I’ll bet he does.” Sonic muttered.

The front door opened and closed.

“Ah, if I knew they were making pancakes, we wouldn’t have gone out for breakfast.” Manic said as he walked Surge in.

“Where have you two been?” Sonic asked.

“We watched the sunrise, then got coffee and breakfast.” Manic asked.

 “That’s all?” Sonic asked.

Manic narrowed his eyes. “Stop being weird, bro.”

 “Breakfast is ready.” Shadow replied.

 Everyone gathered at the table.

Manic closed the curtain. “Okay, it’s raining.” He said. “Who wants to play a board game or something?”

“We didn’t bring board games.” Sonic replied.

“We could watch a movie.” Sally said.

Sonia propped her head up with her fist, resting her elbow on the arm of the couch. “We can never agree on movies.”

“Hey, Surge will watch action movies.” Manic said. “We just finished the Matrix series.”

“I’m glad you endured it.” Sonic replied. “Maybe you can explain to me just what on Mobius that movie is supposed to be about.”

“I vote for John Wick.” Shadow said.

 “We’re not voting.” Sonia replied.

 “I’m in.” Manic replied.

Surge and Sonic raised their hands.

 Sally slowly raised her hand.

Sonia sighed. “I thought you’d be on my side, Sal.”

“I’m not a fan of romantic comedies.” Sally said. “Besides, Keanu Reeves is in this and Sonic will make me watch it eventually.”

 “He is?” Sonic asked.

 “Oops.” Sally muttered.

“Four against two.” Manic said. “John Wick it is.”

“She’s got good taste in movies, I’ll give her that.” Sonic muttered.

Sonic tapped his fingers on the door panel as they waited in traffic on their way home.

Manic glanced back at Sonic. “Here you are drumming on the door, but tell me I can’t do it.”

 Sonic stopped.

Sally sighed. “Sonic… if your idea of trying to be civil is to be unnervingly quiet aside from that noise you’re making, then just run home.” She said, “I think we’d all prefer it.”

Sonic got out and ran home.

Manic slumped against the door. “I don’t know if I should be mad that he can’t even try or glad that he’s kept his mouth shut.”

Surge slid closer to Manic, leaning against him. “Well, it’s not a law that we have to like each other.”

“I know.” Manic said, playing with Surge’s spines.

As soon as everyone made it home, Manic called Sonic. He laid on his couch as he waited on Sonic to pick up.

“I’m sorry about that.” Sonic said. “If she’s that important to you, I should be more… supportive.”

“Sally’s right beside you, isn’t she?” Manic asked.

 “Yeah.” Sonic replied.

Manic laughed. “It’s okay, bro.” He said. “I forgive you. You don’t have to like Surge, but at least don’t be a jerk to her. She’s making a load of effort, trust me. She’s had some words about you.”

 “I’ll try, bro.” Sonic replied.
