Sonic Series ❯ Trip to Universal Studios ❯ The Next day/medieval times ( Chapter 12 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Manic and Surge snuggled on the outdoor chair in the enclosed porch and drank their coffee as they watched the sunrise.

“This is nice.” Manic said. “I know it’s not a proper honeymoon, but this is great, right?”

Surge sipped her coffee. “We went to Jurassic World, what’s to complain about?”

Manic grinned. “That’s my girl.” He said, rubbing her arm.

“So what’s on the schedule today?” Surge asked.

“Hanging out before dinner, then we head home tomorrow.” Manic said.

“Great, gives us plenty of time to relax.” Surge replied.

Manic glanced at the glass door. “Everyone’s up.” He said. “Might as well see what we’re having for breakfast or help out.”

Manic and Surge got up and headed back inside.

Tails looked at Manic. “Oh, wow, we didn’t hear you two get up.”

“We didn’t want to disturb you.” Manic said.

Surge sat at the counter. “What’s for breakfast?”

“Well, Mother and I thought it would be great to go out for breakfast.” Sonia said. “Shadow and Sally thought it would be better to eat breakfast here.”

“We’re already eating out tonight.” Shadow replied. “I don’t mind cooking for everyone. It won’t take long to make pancakes for everyone.”

“I’ll make scrambled eggs.” Sonic said. “I’d rather hang out by the pool today anyway.”

Surge shrugged. “I’d rather have breakfast here.”

“Alright, it’s settled.” Sonic said. “The guys can cook, the girls can get the plates and whatnot.”

 *

After a morning and afternoon of relaxing, everyone got ready to go out for dinner.

Sonic tapped his foot as they waited for Sonia, Aleena, and Maria. “Come on, I’m-”

 “Don’t say it.” Shadow said.

“Starving.” Sonic replied. He chuckled. “Thought I was gonna say something else, huh?”

Shadow rolled his eyes. “We’re not getting in the black section if they don’t hurry up.”

“Yeah, I really don’t want the yellow section.” Manic replied.

Surge shrugged. “Meh, I kinda like yellow, but I want the black section too.”

Maria came downstairs. “Sorry, I lost feeling in my arm and I had to have Aleena brush my hair.”

 “It’s fine, Maria.” Shadow said.

Aleena and Sonia finally headed downstairs.

“Sorry, it took longer to wash our fur.” Sonia said.

“It’s… whatever, let’s go.” Shadow said, opening the door.

Everyone followed Shadow out the door.

“I hope we do get the black section.” Sonia said.

 *

Everyone made their way through the line at the Medieval Times entrance.

Manic looked at the drawbridge walkway and small castle architecture. “You can’t say this doesn’t look cool, Babe.”

 Surge shrugged. “Yeah, it’s cool.”

They finally made their way into the restaurant and walked over to the hostess desk.

The female Mobian opossum handed Aleena her pass and paper crown.

Shadow glared at Sonia “Blue? We get the stupid blue section?”

“I’m so sorry, Shadow.” Sonia said, rubbing Shadow’s shoulder. “I’ll make it up to you.”

 Shadow sighed. “It’s fine.”

 *

Everyone gathered at the line table.

Manic looked at Shadow’s mug designed to look like a barrel. “Nice, you get that at the shop?

“Yeah, figured it would add to the experience and make a nice coffee mug.” Shadow replied. “I’m really hoping blue will be the bad guy if I have to sit in this section.”

“Yeah, that’d be cool.” Manic said.

 *

 Finally, the show began.

Manic and Sonic mostly tuned out the announcements and introductions.

Sonia ducked as a falcon flew over the audience. “No one said this was part of it.”

Surge leaned closer to Manic. “What happens if it has to poop?”

Manic sighed. “Pray it doesn’t use you as its toilet.”

After the falconry show and a dancing horse, the jousting match began.

“Aw, man.” Manic said, leaning on the table. “Green is the bad guy.”

“Now, this is a sport I can understand.” Sonic said, motioning to the show. “Some danger, you get a meal. We’re not sitting on our butts for four hours.”

“Eh… did you ever think someone might get hurt?” Kit asked.

Surge looked at Kit. “Yeah, but everything can be dangerous.” She replied. “I’d think they like their job.”

 Kit nodded. “I suppose so.”

 Shadow smirked. “Green won.”

“I’m a little unnerved that you’re happy the bad guy won.” Sonia said.

“It makes for a better show.” Shadow replied.

Everyone got up and filed out of the arena.

 *

Sonic and Shadow led everyone inside the house.

“I admit, I’m impressed.” Surge said. “It was pretty cool.”

“Food wasn’t worth it though.” Manic said, shrugged. “Just chicken, potatoes, and soup. Oh, I mean Dragon’s blood and roast dragon.”

 Shadow chuckled.

“You’re mostly paying for the show.” Tails replied. “You charge more for your concert tickets.”

 “True.” Manic said.

Sonic stretched his arms. “Ah, I think I’m gonna grab a shower, then get my bags packed so I don’t have to worry about it in the morning.”

“Put your towels in the washing machine so I can get the laundry started.” Aleena said over her shoulder as she headed to the kitchen.

“I guess I’ll help her clean the kitchen.” Sonia said.

“I’ll get most of my stuff packed.” Tails said, heading upstairs.

 Kit followed them.

Everyone else went to shower or pack most of their things before bedtime.
